Lovely traditional feel to the room whilst still very comfortable
I can't say I enjoyed walking up and down the hills and steps to get to our room - it became arduous and by the last night I was really glad I didn't have to do it again! But it's worth it for the lovely sunrises and views. If you can't handle steep steps and hills for whatever reason, don't stay here!
Railay Great View Spending 3 nights here at the beginning of our adventure in Thailand was a real joy. Rooms were cleaned every day, very spacious and the aircon worked really well. I was a bit hesitant beforehand as some of the reviews here had been quite negative but all in all the hotel was great - quiet, out of the way and just a short walk to Railay West (there is a designated path, just follow it). The restaurant here is really great, polite staff and the food was delicious. No the beach isn't as nice as Railay West but it's 15 minute walk max to that beach and hotel kindly provide beach mat, towels and a beach bag for all your tanning needs! The pool is pretty nice at the hotel if you really can't bear to walk far. I would definitely stay here again although I would probably ask for a room that isn't so high up in the hills despite how great the workout was for my glutes!
Wonderful resort outside the troubling parts of Railay. So a nice refugium to relax.
Most members of staff were nice, but there was lady who was really rude, she looked like the owner or something (or maybe it was just her bossy attitude). You do have to walk quite a bit to get there, and walk up the hill if your room is one of the higher numbers (we were in room 20 which was waaay up), but it pays off for the views. Wi-fi takes quite a bit of "engineering" to make it work in the room.
Views from the room; amazing setting in the middle of the "jungle"
the restaurant of the resort - you will see - is most of the time empty ... and now you can think of the reason. it looks really nice, but the food was not really good and way too expensive - you can get it way cheaper and better at railay east.
It is true as you can read that you really need to be in kind of a good shape cause it's a little hike up to the bungalows - but it's worth it! the view was great and they have all you need. Staff was really helpful and even if this resort is the last one you can talk to - it really didn't matter to us cause it was a nice walk along the coast and at night the lights - it was beautiful!
The stairs up to our bungalow were steep and far, but that's why the view is so great! Desk staff gave me the wrong time for the ferry, twice and show a great disinterest in helping guests.
Spectacled langurs descending at night to feed, gorgeous views from room, great pool! Cleaning staff helped me when I was sick- great place.
Restaurant a little slow and overpriced
Really beautiful location and rooms were well equipped
wonderful view from the balcony, room lightnening, breakfast facing the see, bungalows not too close to each other, room and bathroom very spacious, they also provide with beach bag and math
arrival information that is on the website isn't correct. If you get the boat from Ao Nang beach they wont take to the resort. Resulting is a very long walk. Also if your older, have trouble walking or really unfit this is not the resort for you. Its very hilly
views and watching the monkeys from your balcony
I would never stay there again no hot water after asking over and over was ment to stay 10 nights stayed 6 and move on 40 rooms and 6 sun beds at the pool not good enough wast of my money and would never go again I live here in thialand and have stayed in better 2 star hotels no drink in the hotel not on the web site musli hotel not on the wed sit bad alround hotel
Pool area is a bit neglected, very few sunbeds, some are broken, no umbrellas. Service People lack Motivation ( ?? due to Management??). Very difficult to reach - no help with suitcases. Laundry Service: one Piece was lost, one totally spoilt by bleach. Restaurant: lack of Motivation and of atmosphere. Poor choice for vegetarians. Especially we did not like the Service of reception - not friendly, annoied, with disinterest. We will not return.
The view is beautiful, the Resort is located in the jungle, you can watch monkeys from the terrace. The staff, who cleans the rooms works very well !
The views were amazing!
- The noise from the longtail boots destroys the whole idyll - we stayed there 3 nights and it was never quiet, from 7am till 10pm or even 2am in the morning you will have to deal with noises between the sound of a mower and one of a helicoper all of the time, it is unbearable! - The hotel staff at the check in and the restaurant speak really little english, they forgot our papaya salad and wanted to charge more since they don't even know which meals they offer in their menu - On weekends when more guests were arriving there is more variety at breakfast and the prizes for ice cream at the mini mart suddenly were higher (from 40 to 50 baht) - The pool is not the prettiest and they only have 10 sun beds for all the guests - there is a shuttle that takes and picks you up from ao nammao pier for free though the times were not very useful: at 5:30 pm and at 8:30 pm they will pick you up from the pier - so if you have a late check in wait for the Great View resort boat at the long bridge (noone told us that even though I've written a few emails ahead)
+ Beautiful bungalow, I loved the fresh smell of lemon, comfortable bed, rain shower, lots of light-lovely, they offer you a flashlight, a bag with flip flops, 2 beach towels and even a huge bamboo mat for the beach + The hotel itself is clean and you'll find yourself in the middle of exotic flowers and really nice arranged pathways, you can see the monkeys jumping from tree to tree right in front of the bungalow, squirrels, birds, it would be paradise if there wouldn't be the longtail boats + Its quiet but quite a walk from everything: 7mins to last bar, 30 min to Railay West, 50min to Tonsai (go there it's the only quiet beach that's left of Railey), 25min to Phranang beach + free wifi that works in all aeras of the hotel
I had to walk a bit to other spots. Manageable though.
The chalet is mind-blowing
My suggestion would be that there are clearer instructions when you book on how to get there. If you get the wrong pier you must walk a very long way to get there!
The view, the room the pool
- we had few different animals visiting our small house: lizard, cockroachs & monkeys but when you live inside the forest I assume it is acceptable and quite normal - loudly boats around - believe it is something that you need to accept in case you want to live by the sea, so that was not a problem for us
All in all it was dreamed place to be: - location - in the quite area far away from everything - staff - very helpful and friendly - comfort & cleanliness - room was cleaned everyday and it was pretty new - views - shower with sea view, balcony with sea view! Just perfect - breakfast - tasty with great sea view
The room had mice, the last 2 nights we didn't sleep at all.
The location is great, the view is amazing. The rooms are very nice and comfortable.
Very poor experience & very expensive! Was expecting something special but was really let down
Far from from Railay East(15-20 mins walk), and for 2 people in good shape it was quite a climb to get to our rooms
Insects like cockroaches and other bugs were easy to find in our "delux" accomodation. no working internet
because is far away from everything is a silent place.
The beach is not the best.
The wi fi connection was poor and working only in the rooms close to the reception. The free boat from/to Railay West and the resort was not so frequent, it hasn't been easy to reach the Resort. Our comfort was disturbed by the noisy boats passing close to the Resort during day and night.
The cottage was really nice and clean. The natural environment was great and emotional. The staff was friendly and efficient.
Breakfasts were not good-everyday the same food and hard to eat anything apart from fruits or cereal. Restaurant is not good for eating dinners either. Lack of a beach-only when the tide goes out you can go to not very sandy beach by the hotel.
Localization-this is the last hotel of the bay so there are not so many turists going there. If you want to have peace and quiet holidays this is a good place. Close to restaurants and shops.
Restaurant food was below average in most cases, but breakfast was fine. For dinner, I would definitely recommend eating outside, we often ate at the restaurant of another hotel about 15 minute walk away.
Nice pool, and being a 10 to 15 min walk away from the main shops and cafes, created a more isolated and very relaxing atmosphere.
The staff didn't seem very eager to help and didn't appear to understand customer service. We asked for a late checkout as we didn't fly until very late that day but they were very unwilling to provide this and only did so after a bit of an argument. Saying that the restaurant staff were nice but the reception did put a but of a dampener in our stay. The resort is very hilly and not suitable for anyone elderly or with walking disabilities and this isn't made clear before booking. It's absolutely fine if you don't mind a short walk uphill and the views certainly make up for it.
The rooms are clean and a good size and have a nice rural feel to them. The pool is very nice and there are some amazing views from here and the restaurant. The resort is a little out the way from the main part of Railay but as long as you don't mind a ten minute walk uphill this isn't a problem. Breakfast is pretty standard for what you expect across Thailand, mixture between some thai and some continental.
