All Staff were best friendly
Deco is really beautiful!
Very very poor internet connection.
Quite and luxury large room to chill in.
No windows but we knew that before we booked.
Shanghai Mansion is undoubtly the best hotel we've stayed in Thailand.
Absolutely no parking...
Great food and service, staff were happy to help with any organisation of day trips/transportation and a stunning hotel.
Some small insects in the room and the shower lacked any sort of power.
Some little bugs in the room and bed
The decoration is kitschy of course, but not bad: Even though I lived in Shanghai for 10+ years, I have never seen a place so devoted to the memory of "Old Shanghai". The staff is friendly. The breakfast is good.
The hotel has used "stage design", that is: a number of creative means to conceal the fact that the hotel (at least our room) has no windows. The room had a musky smell which would be dispelled only after an hour of A/C with a big fan speed.
Outside bar and coffee shop are lovely
The rooms have no outside windows and are very dark and claustrophobic. You have to either keep the air on on full pelt or leave the bathroom extractor fan on to circulate any air. There is incessant building noise at one end of the hotel.
Loved it all
Although only staying overnight in Bangkok as flight following day I booked to stay here due to previous very good experience of this hotel despite it being on the opposite side of town. I also booked one of the suites set along the fish pond as always curious to know whet they are like. Wish I had said all that money and stayed at airport. Loud constant grinding sound in our suite meant sleep impossible When I reported anger and porter both tried to deny there was a problem so I had to insist they came to room. They then said yes there is a problem in plant room but could only offer to move us to room next door. Here you had same sound but not as loud but also sound of air con pipes for while hotel. In the end had to wear ear plugs. Had food delivers by room service and ended up with sick tummy for a week. Staff in restaurant at breakfast were a disgrace with tables left uncleared. One of the wandered around with his backpack on obviously keen to leave. Due to sick tummy I could only have tea but watched many guests wandering around trying to find cutlery and drinks. In the end one of the chefs had to get cutlery and looked very embarrassed. I will now have to find a new place to stay in Bangkok!!! What a disappointment I will not be back!!!!!
Sloppy sloppy sloppy service!!! This was my fourth visit to this hotel should have been a joy and should have recieved better treatment as a loyal customer instead I was treated to a buch of lies no sleep and a sick tummy!!! One week on I still very upset by the yreatment I recoved here!
When we first arrived we were shocked just how busy the street this hotel is on. However, the hotel transports you away from the hustle and bustle where you can kick back and relax. The aircon is brilliant and was much needed first week of February. The breakfast is amazing with the sheer variety of food on offer as a buffet option. Staff helpful and location great to walk to the river to access the temples. Thoroughly enjoyed 3 nights here, but 3 nights is enough.
Extremely busy street.
Location Staff Room Bath
Got charges extra for checking in early which made the overall one night stay expensive.
From the minute we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Lovely staff, amazing features, and great location.
Having to leave :-(
Everything was good staff location
Everything was good just the Doorman ..i ask him a taxi for the airport i sad for 500bath but the taxi driver charge to me 100bath be careful about
Chinese decoration is exactly what you see in the pictures. Very comfortable.
Chinatown is interesting, nice to visit, but street food is much better in Thong Lo, for example.
Location, street side bar, bed and hot water shower all fantastic. Nice decor too.
An outside window would have made it perfect
Lovely staff and great room
Our room was massive. I have never seen a bed so big! A real shame we were only there one night. The breakfast included was top notch! The staff are very helpful. They even have a guy on the door that will help you plan your day, give you travel advice and flag you down a cab..
The food in the hotel was amazing , bed real comfy and just very attentive staff
the room was glorious and edpecially comfortable bed. thecstaff went out of thier way to be helpful!
Amazing decor, very tastefully done, great rooms, excellent value for money, very good location for China Town - next to 'Seafood Street'!
No windows. You can't have it all I suppose...
Loved this hotel only stayed for one night but loved it from start to finish. Staff were brilliant, great selection for breakfast, the interior of the hotel and rooms were amazing. Always a benefit when you get a free mini bar. Great location in the middle of Chinatown
Ambiance Decoration Schinatown
The Hotel has had a refurb since I last visited & I was worried that it might have lost its unique style. However, it's just got better!! A homage to The Shanghai Ladies of the 1930's era. Beautiful decor, furnicture & fittings , a wonderful restaurant with live jazz where we had a delish meal!! Staff are friendly, efficient & helpful. At check in there was a bit of a delay as the staff were dealing with an elderly American gentleman who was being very demanding !! The receptionist Tui came to our room to opologise in person for the delay & offered us a free breakfast. She continued to take extremely good care of us for our stay. The room was beautiful & we were made to feel very at home. If you love the Art Deco period & like to feel at home in your hotel I would strongly recommend you visit. Location wise it's in the heart of ChinaTown . The sea food at the restaurant on the pavement to the right (evenings) of the entrance of the hotel is famous with all the Thai people & is cheap & delicious. The shopping is fun Too!
