Silom City Hotel (formerly Silom City Inn)  

The hotel provides very good value for the price. My room was on the 9th floor, on a corner so I had windows on two sides. I really liked that; had very nice views of the city in two directions. I would call my room (and the hotel in general) quite luxurious considering the relatively low price. The room was very clean and comfortable and the bed was very comfortable! The air conditioner worked well. The electric hot water pitcher was quite handy. The room had blackout curtains (plus semi-sheer curtains), so I was able to get a lot of sleep the day after my long flight from the U.S. The restaurant was good, and their breakfast buffet (not included in room price) was great. Thai massage in my room. Staff very friendly and helpful, and mostly spoke good English. I exchanged some U.S. dollars at the hotel, and a couple of days later the desk clerk handed me an envelope with some cash in it, apologizing that I had been given the wrong rate in the exchange. It was really nice that they discovered this and refunded the money! I thought the location was fine, one block off the busy Silom Road. I could walk a ways north to the Sala Dueng Skytrain station, about the same distance south to the Chao Phraya river taxi dock.

The wireless Internet was a bit flaky, went in and out, and the signal was weak in my room. It's a good thing I have an external high-gain wireless adapter, or I might not have been able to use the Internet at all in my room. They do have a router on every floor at least, but the signal varied a lot. I often had to switch between Floor 9 (my floor) and Floor 8 or Floor 10. Having said all that, I was still able to accomplish what I needed on the Internet, but the flakiness was a bit frustrating at times.

It was just a perfect quiet place for a weekend in Bangkok. No bells or whistles, just a comfortable bed and great service for a reasonable price.

Good value for price.

Breakfast buffet a bit moderate, not too much choice. Safety box a bit old-fashioned and hard to operate, a lot of fuzz to close.

I stayed thare for 3 nights (actually I booked 4 nitghs, but flight from India was canceled and I got the hotel just morning next day). The location is good, not too far from wherever you go. The staff was very hospitality and really freindly. Breakfast was not too rich but good enough for start the day. Internet worked well.

The rooms should have reconstruction. Ac was noisy a bit.

A good hotel.

Good location within walking distance 10 minutes to river - we took the orange ferry to the royal palace. Also about 7-10 mins to Patpong rd with all the nightlife. Metered taxi to Kaoh San road only about 75 baht (so about $2.50).

Reception staff not friendly - the least friendly of all the hotels we have stayed in. Not one smile in 2 days. The only person who seemed happy to see us was the doorman who was always cheerful and pleasant. Also, we gave some clothes for laundry with the hotel, as we didn't have time to go out looking for another place, and it was RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE! 700 baht for 5 shirts, 2 blouses and some socks/undies. Not dry cleaning, just laundry and it cost over $23!!! What a rip off. Our fault for not checking the prices but we were in a hurry and expected to pay a bit more than on the street but not 5 times more.

The proximity of Patpong, good base for exploring the city.

Please watch for the contents of the fridge (it comes to beverages, spirits and peanuts). When checking out I learned that I must pay the amount of 1,500 baht per drink I drank not. Every day I put their drinks and were mixed with those of a hotel. Best to write the contents of the fridge and before the visit cleaners to make the content was not a surprise.

Nice, large,comfortable room! Friendly, sincerely helpful staff! Very good breakfast! Great wi-fi signal, however voip calls were not working.

The room could use new carpet. It was quite a long walk to the bts, however that could be viewed as free exercise.
