Stayed here with my two daugthers and the list of disapionments is very long; - I have asked for an extra bed, but what I got was a small and very hard one. - The gym didn't work, then I told them about it, I was asked to go to their other hotel, but there the gym was broken too. (After trying to explain to them serval times that I wasn't happy about it, they where first saying there was nothing they could do about to it, and after talking to the management back and forth the gave me a voucher of 1 hour massage /500 bhat) - The breakfast was not what I expected, the fruit and wasn't fresh there was so loud noise from the drilling and construction and upstairs you couldn't talk. - The wifi was unstable and weak sometimes. - The staff didn't speak enough English so the would understand when you tried to explain something, for example the I was ordered from the restaurant they didn't make the order so we had to go on excursion without lunch. - The cleaning wasn't good, they forgot to fill water, beer, cola as supposed to included. Then the cleaning lady "mistook" my daughters 1000 bhat bill as tip even though we where not checking out. (We got it back after calling a few times to reception) - There was lots of ants a the didn't clean after room service - We discovered that there was piles of wood dust under the futon from insect literally eating the wood of the futon. - The AC was noisy and the electricity switch only worked for one of the key cards. - Then there was the other guest, they where talking loudly at 2 o'clock in the morning, having loud sex, smoking in the room, as the was just a thin door to the other room you where disturb by everything. This happened serval nights and I both called down to the reception and talked to them in morning after but nothing happen.

The staff were very friendly, the location was great and very accessible to all needs such as the beach, shops and eateries.

The rooms at first appear great, clean and contemporary. But my bed sheets had sand in them on the first night but no longer an issue after that. My toilet seat was broken but still useable. my friends room however was infested with mosquitos which bothered him his whole stay despite efforts from staff to spray the room. he should have asked for another room but didn't think to do so. he brought it to my attention on our last night and as the paying guest I took it up with management as I dont think this is acceptable standard for the amount we were paying. they offered to wave the cost of our late check out and a free lunch which I refused as the price of 4 nights far outweighs the value of their proposal to me and lets face it, it costs them almost nothing to accomodate a late checkout. the manager told me a refund is not straight forward as they had to request it from booking.com which is false as it was the resort that charged me account not the web site. anyway we were supposed to discuss the matter further at cehckout but the manager was not available. hence we left for the airport and did not pay for the late checkout. I still expect a refund for the room, even though a week has passed and I haven't heard a thing about it. oh to add insult to injury the elevator was out of service for 2 whole days and still not working when we left. we were on the 4th floor. not a big deal if your reasonably fit but terrible if your not or elderly. and dangerous when carrying bulky luggage or inebriated. I wasnt going to post an unfavorable review as I was waiting for them to do the right thing but they have opted for the cowardly way out so this is my little way of getting even. I dont want to deter guests from staying here as overall it was quite pleasant but I didn't appreciate the manager avoiding me to discuss a reasonable claim or lying to me about having to discuss it with booking.

This place was the worst place we have ever been to. Be very careful as the photos are nothing like the place in real life. We arrived to a run down place with rude service and a room that was dirty, smelt like wee and had bugs and mould in the bathrooms. The safe didnt work so a guy came up and proceeded to use a hammer drill as we were sitting in our room as concrete dust went everywhere.After we complained they moved us to another room which was exactly the same. We decided we could not stay here. They problem is they make you pay in full before you arrive and would not give us a refund which is disgraceful. This is not 5star. Don't stay here...

Short walk to the beach.

Tired, worn out facilities. Chipping paint, concrete block-style place. Noise of late-night partying carried up through the outdoor, concrete hallways. Transportation to/from airport a bit expensive. Rock-hard beds and pillows, even for Thailand. We were told to avoid the food, so we went out for all breakfasts and dinners, and the breakfast looked kind of sad when we walked by in the morning.

The location of this property is excellent, 250 yards from beautiful Kata Yai beach and close to restaurants, shops etc.

This hotel is in some need of renovation but you get what you pay for.

Proximity to beach, shops and restaurants is excellent, and the off-season room rate was very good value.

On my arrival day,the room safe was faulty and the air-conditioner was not working, which required changing to another room, but the reception staff gave me an upgrade with a pool view which was appreciated. However, the pool is relatively small and was often crowded with noisy children.

Nothing at all ... I would never stay there again

Shabby rooms and generally run down hotel ... I booked for three nights and checked out after one despite the fact that i had prepayed for the whole stay ... birds were all over the bread and cakes at breakfast which the staff were indiferent to ... Its one of the worst hotels that I have had the misfortune to stay at.

Very basic and rooms were not like pictured,the swimming pool always had waste paper or something floating in it.The sun loungers are made from metal and you could get a serious burn from the arm rests when they are heated up by the sun.The room door was badly fitted and gave the impression was not secure.

It's far away from chaos which happened in Patong Beach. It's kind of relax hotel where there is a good massage center just right in front of the hotel.

There is strange smell in the room but did not happen to other room. Guess the wood furniture in the hotel is always humid and causing the odd odor.

Hotel has a great location for its price. It's hidden in the insides of kata beach, and around 3 minutes walk to the beach. Beach where the hotel is located has amazing pristine water and soft sand. Exterior of hotel was as pictured, in comparison to others it has a more chic feel to it.

Service staff, especially the porter was not fantastic. My booking was messed up, gave me the wrong type of room and wrong type of bed even though the hotel has confirmed my booking with beds and rooms. They hurriedly did up the two single beds into 1 bed, but what resulted was that the bed was pushed right next to the balcony as there was a fixed wooden stand in the middle of the room. It clearly was not meant to be a double-bedded room. Also, sound travels everywhere in the hotel. We were awoken every morning by either neighbours with slightly louder than usual tv or by the furniture being moved around in the upstairs rooms. Imagine the loud echoing travelling in and around the room at 7am when you are trying to sleep.

the facilitys are very tired,in need of a major makeover, pool area, reception ,breakfast restaurant.More like a well used city backpackers than luxury resort. we where suppose to have 2 weeks here but moved to a much nicer hotel next door.

Obviously the price but the location was a big bonus walking distance to beach, shops, restaurants and transport to any where you wanted to go.Also excellent breakfast rooms clean and good pool. Noise factor was good rooms very much insulated. All staff excellent and very helpful will stay again and highly recommend to anyone travelling to Phuket.

I enjoyed the location of the resort and room with pond view balcony was nice. Breakfast was very good too.

the gymnasium equipment is not good. Need everything in working order and no treadmill..

Hotel was clean, location was good near some nice restaurants. Close to beach, nice pool area, would recommend!

While pool is lovely, there is not much room for sun loungers. You have to get up early to get your place!

location is great, buffet is nice, good view from 5th floor. clean room and compliments as soft drinks and beer is a good thing.

We stayed at Sugar Palm because friends were also staying there. The hotel staff were friendly and were very attentive. The hotel is located in a very small soi off the main road and close to the beach. Rooms were nice.

The pool area was not very attractive. There was a small area for sun bathing and the pool while clean had a black liner which was a bit unusual from the standard blue or blue-green. This is a small point nd would not prevent me from recommending this hotel.

Sugar Palm is the greatest hotel which I've ever stayed! Everything was perfect! We lived in pool access room...it was amazing really. Many thanks for staff and for everybody. I can say exactly I will come back to Sugar Palm Kata Resort! Miss Thai very much! I advice this hotel to everybody, you will not disappointed! Really! I promise!

The late check out fee is a little expensive

Loved the location, just 3 minutes away from Kata Beach and loved the smooth bed linen. Very nice bathroom with separate shower/bathtub, good size balcony, big screen tv.

The only thing I didn't like is the fact that when we asked for a taxi we were not offered one with a meter but one with a fixed price (1000 Baht to the airport!!). It's a pity that a such a nice hotel tries to rip-off his clients, or is it just some "business" of the concierge? I booked this hotel because an airport shuttle was mentioned but we received no information about this from the staff, when we asked the concierge he pretended not to understand and he just asked "Taxi?"...
