Good location. The owner is helpful and kind.clean.the garden is really beautiful,we enjoy the time with everyone drinking in the garden :)
Room size Location Private bathroom
Window to shared bathroom Thin walls
The host is very cute and helpful. The garden, though small, is gorgeous and we hanged out there all the time. The bike rental is also for free, which made our staying in Chiang Mai extremely convenient.
The bed was a bit too hard. I had to put the blanket beneath me.
Staff very nice and helpfull. Big bethroom and good location
Bathroom of the private double room quite old
Free bikes, water, tea, coffee, kitchen use, washing machine and cookies.
beds are very hard. but with airco and fan and everything else perfect. what is there to complain about!
The housekeeper is amazing, she is the most active house keeper I've ever met! I was really surprised at what we got for what we paid! Pleasantly surprised!
The mattress... like it was horrible. I'm pretty sure it was just stacked cardboard.
Young owner with good knowledge of English, always willing to help you. Free water and bikes to borrow.
Bed(s) were too hard, but it looks all beds in Thailand are like that...
Location, decor, wifi signal all great.
Staff communication lacking, but helpful to guests in other respects.
the staff and Bale in particular, were fantastic. Organised scooters for us delivered to the guesthouse. Cleaned daily, and properly! Use of washing machine. Peaceful garden/ common area. I stayed in the dorm, ned was made for me each day, cleaned room, I met plenty of great people I travelled on with. Free bikes to use & tea/ coffee and bottles of water. I stayed twice after coming back from Pai, shuttles to Pai were organised by Bale.
The mattress was traditional Thai and was very hard. You can ask for a soft cover though so no real problem!
Small but nice place in front of the house, well decorated by Baan (the boss). Possibility to cook or use dishes. Free bikes. Excellent free wifi. Laundry service for 20 baths. Coffee and tea available freely and you can also take bottle of water whenever and as many you want!! Taste the cakes on the table...there are excellent! I had a fan room with shared batheroom. This was clean and i never met somebody at the same time. Soap at disposal. Room very functional. Towel given. The bed is hard but i actually slept very well. For breakfast there is Fai Bakery (3min.from guesthouse) or other places on Prah Singh road. For cheap dinner there is a place on Thanon Arak (5min.walk - eat there or take away - noodle soup for 30-40baths).
Rooms are not good isolated. So if your neighbours speak too loud you hear it. I only had problem once with chinese girls without respect.
The location was quite good although it was hide in the small alley and difficult to find. Staffs were friendly.
There has so many bed bugs on the bed. I was fighting with them at midnight and dare not to sleep. I told the staff but he still can't fix it (surely). The bed was very hard that like to sleep at the floor. The price was good if you don't mind to contribute your blood to the bed bugs every night :)
Infinity free cold water
I kill bed bugs with my blood inside it Everynight!!!!
It is a very nice place to stay. The position is perfect to go in the center because it is very close to the main temple of the city. Perfect place to stay in chiang mai! You can take bikes at free when you want. Very nice and always kind belo, the guy if the hostel!!
This hostel is in a quieter location inside the moat. Walking distance but I recommend making use of the free bicycles they provide. Staff are very very nice, it's just a young guy and girl who hang out in the common room. They have a kitchen you can make use of, free bottled water, coffee, tea, etc. I stayed in the fan single room, there is also a big dorm room downstairs and a few aircon doubles. Rooms are cleaned daily, towels are nice. The garden area is cute and quiet and gives somewhere to relax outdoors like a common area. Not really a backpacker vibe here, many couples, but I like this place a lot.
Pricy for shared bathroom, and this was a bit of a problem since there is only one toilet and shower, and I had to wait a long time on several occasions. My room has no hooks or hangers or anywhere to put clothes. Floor? There is no soundproofing so I hear people coming in at all hours of th night, and the neighbor cat has been in heat for the last day... Not the hostel's fault.
good staff，free bicycle，big room
The staff at tara were amazing!!! They help us book everythin and adivised us where to go during the day. The hostel was very relaxed and comfortabe. They also have free wifi and bikes.
The beds were traditional bamboo matresses which was a bit uncomfortable for a eutopean back. But they did offer extra blankets to help with this
We’ve been in Chiang Mai from the 21st till the 24th October and we stayed at Tara Guesthouse. It’s been an excellent choice under every aspects: the place is well-kept, the rooms are spacious and clean, the area is well connected with every points of interest in the city. The manager, Bale, is amazing, lovely and always helpful. He knows how to put the guests at ease, making them feel at home. We had useful information by him, he speaks fluent english and he helped us for a lot of different purposes, from booking tours and flights to advices to live the city at its best for a few days, always with an uncommon kindness and in an environment of mutual respect. Coffee, tea, and cookies are kindly offered by the house and it’s also possible using the kitchen and the other common spaces. One more interesting utility are the bikes, available for free and very suitable for sightseeing. The value for money is great. We recommend Tara Guesthouse to everybody for a pleasant, cheap but also rich stay.
staffs are really nice, location is perfect
It's very simple but clean. The young man that runs the guesthouse is very friendly and he is always smiling! You can get free bottles of water, as many as you need, even cold ones. There was also a Lonely Planet in our room, which is great for traveler to read. Good value for money
There is not much going on around that area.. Although you can borrow the bikes from the guesthouse or walk about 15 to 20 min to get to the main area.
The owner, Bale, has created such a wonderful environment for his guests. Located near the west gate of old Chiang Mai, this guesthouse is an absolute gem. The place is absolutely immaculate, as it has only been in operation for 9 months. The staff is unbelievably friendly and they provide a number of free services. For example, there are three bicycles that they will lend you for no charge, they provide guests with unlimited bottles of water, there are always delicious snacks in the main area, there is a washing machine and full kitchen. If you are going to be staying in Chiang Mai, I highly recommend this charming guesthouse.
That I had to leave.
very cosy and clean place, extremely helpful and welcoming host, I felt myself at home
nothing to complain about
staff were very helpful. free rent bicycle. easy access to sunday walking street. room kept clean. quiet location.
I was bit annoyed by the noise from gas or water heater kind of things all the time. it might be from next door house....
- staff was very helpful - free bike rental - super clean - great location
The hostel is in the city square close to all touristic places but in a quiet corner. The entrance is kind off hiden, difficult to find even for the local people, make sure you take a map with the location. The hostel is simple but you have everything you need. Clean, air condition, very nice and helpful staff. We could use the washing machine without any problem. I would definitely recommend it.
