The front office staff are helpfull, in whatever you need.
The location was central although the container terminal opposite the hotel blocks any view of the water. The traditional East Timorese decor in the foyer and throughout the hotel was lovely. There is also a very nice gift shop in the hotel although it was not open when we were there.
There was no hot water in the shower of both rooms we stayed in despite the receptionist assuring that there was. Even though this is a hot country, the internal airconditioning is cold and not conducive to a cold shower. We also did not have a hair dryer in one of the rooms (120) - just a piece of cardboard over the wires where it should have been. The staff were also not forthcoming with information regarding good restaurants, travelling locally (taxis are almost impossible to hail down and cannot be booked - beware if going out for a meal at night to somewhere not within walking distance as you are unlikely to be able to get back to the hotel) or airport transfers. We only discovered that there were free airport transfers when we tried to organise a taxi for our early morning flight. Given the room rate, this hotel was not good value for money.
Special thanks to booking.com, we got a Junior Suite room for only $18 a night. The room was nicely decorated. Breakfast was alright. We could park our car across the street.
I forgot my trousers on a chair in the room. I figured this out when we were in Tutuala Beach so I had to wait til we got back to Dili. We went to the hotel as soon as we arrived back which was around 10pm. They said to come the next day because the housekeeper already left. We went back to the hotel the next morning and found out that that housekeeper didn't work that day. They tried to call her but she didn't pick up her phone. I don't understand why there isn't a place where housekeepers keep lost items they find from the guestrooms? I still haven't heard back from them about this, maybe they thought trousers are worthless? The WIFI was quite expensive and worked slow.
comfort, location, lack of mosquitoes
Internet was slow. Bit pricey.
Everything was perfect, the nice coffee, growned in the country, the helpful staff, the complimentary airport shuttle on departure and muc more.
There is really nothing to complain. Maybe the water in the swimming-pool is a littlebit too much hot :-)
Curtesy email of goods left behind - much appreciated.
Large room, clean, friendly staff, reasonable prices in the bar/coffee shop area ($3.50 per beer). Good doormen. Only $3 to $5 taxi fare to town centre. No mosquitos at all.
Food was adequate but not to the standard that some of the group wanted. However, I was happy enough with it. Reception could be a little more efficient. No lift. A musty, stale soapy smell in corridor of Level One.
Complimentary pick-up and return to the airport. You don't have to hassel with taxi's. Complimentary breakfast.
A travel desk or arrangement with a few 'good' local taxis to rent by the hour.
Location Free Airport Shuttle
Dirty Windows Dirty & Stained Sheets Poor WiFi connection + you have to pay extra for same. No lift Reception speaks poor Portuguese and English. Breakfast - not so great Café pastries were disgusting
coffee & tea bags but no kettle in room.
Clean and comfortable
Not much shade re swimming pool consequently water very warm Staff not too good in speaking English
The space to move around inside the room and the cleanliness. The pool was clean with plenty of lounges and towels - lovely green setting with healthy plants to encourage birds. It was easy to get a taxi being on a main road. Also close to the beach for walking.
Location Value for money
Breakfast was very ordinary
I have stayed here so many times. The rooms are clean now than they were before. Atmosphere looks good.
The breakfast items have been reduced, they should put back the same way as before. The restaurant menu has to be changed, I am seeing the same menu for the past 5 years.
Cleanliness Modern bathrooms Comfortable beds Good quality food and drinks Friendly staff
Safe didn't work Bar area could do with a little more atmosphere Restaurant was a little like eating in a barn
We stayed for five nights in hotel Timor. The position of the hotel is excellent, near the harbour. We took deluxe rooms, which were newly renovated. The hotel is clean and the staff was helpful. The breakfast is average but the evening dinner buffet is very good. Internet access is expensive, but if you take on weekly basis it is cheaper-we took one week access for 25 USD. Very good value for money.
airport hotel pick-up transport. Bidet spray
no toilet bidet spray
Rooms were kept neat regularly
No elevator in the hotel so had to make our way up and down 4 flights of stairs everytime leaving or returning to the room. No smoking balconies available, again with the stairs to go outside for a smoke. No outside seating area. Extra cost of $25 for wifi for 5 days which could only be used on one device at a time. No power point outlets in the bathroom. Small old tv in room and most channels had such poor reception they were unwatchable. Pool area very bare and uninviting. No steps/seating area in pool. Restaurant food was not very good. No sauce to go with dry savoury foods. Hamburger meat patties were completely raw. Not within walking distance of popular evening dining areas or daytime bars. Cafe never had change in the til to process cash transactions for drinks. Staff responses were rude after having to make a request like asking for milk in an iced coffee. This place didn't suit us as first time tourists rather than business as usual.
The hotel has a nice atmosphere, with an understated, tasteful decoration. It is a haven in Dili, in a very central location. Good, large, clean and well equipped rooms and a nice pool. The large restaurant is excellent, with superb food and good value, considering Dili's inflated prices . The staff are quiet and courteous. There is a surprisingly good handicraft shop, with a stylish selection at good prices.
Internet is not free, which is disappointing. $10 for /24h is pricey, but I realized later that the 24h may be non-consecutive (timed effective usage). There are no elevators in the building, a major shortcoming. It is better to avoid the upper floors.
Clean, reasonable price
If you don't book via Booking.com you fell cheated.
Friendly staff. Good food. Great location.
Internet not working well on second floor.
Quality of the motel.Spacious rooms well serviced clean with all facilities. Great staff all over the Hotel. Central lication. Gerat & cheap resturant & coffee shop. Big clean and secure/private pool with a bar etc.Close to the waterfront and shops around the corner. Taxies pass by all the time. Chemist 50mtrs up the road. We checked another Hotel where we usually stay more espensive and not nearly as good as the Hotel Timor. Popular with forein and local people. We will return.
All good NO COMPLAINTS.
Location Staff Clean Rooms Aircon and TV working great
Internet not working very well in the 2nd level rooms where I stayed.
Reception Staff, Location and Special Price
That the Hotel staff member who was supposed to meet me at the airport and take me to the hotel did not show up!!! And I was stranded at Dili airport with no tl phone and was set upon by all the pushy taxi drivers. And the pool and restaurant were closed because of the Portuguese Delegation.. But the only big disappointment was all the trouble it caused me to get to the hotel, with all my baggage, when the hotel did not provide the Courtesy Pick-up Service that they promised.
The staff were friendly, the pool was clean.
The breakfast was cold and limited, coffee was in pots and cold, had to pay for an extra expresso. Too much scamming with doorman and taxi drivers.
