Score from 724 reviews Excellent
Autenticity of hotel, art exhibition at the basement, Restaurant at the top of the hotel, ambiance at breakfast
Too much noise and foodsteps coming from upstairs at the 4th floor
location is great, you feel that you are staying in a special place, beautifully renovated building, big superior room, big bathroom, art pieces throughout the building was excellent
avoid normal rooms whose windows look into the inner courtyard and which are dark. after seeing my first normal room, i paid the difference for a superior room and it was worth it. breakfast is served in top floor cafe which could be bettered. view and idea and art pieces are perfect, but for these room prices, a higher level of selection and service would be appreciated.
a retrofit of a historical building in a centre location, with the walls filled with art works (which I can recognise a few, real gems). The furnitures, materials and colour they used bring warm comfort and subtlety. Very eco-friendly. Plus there's an underground gallery space. It's perfect for artistic guests like architects or writers alike.
Tranquility of the place. View out over Istanbul from the rooftop restaurant. Homemade/natural ingredients in the meals served.
Can be noisy if you have a room overlooking the bars on the main street. Pricy when compared to what you can get near by e.g. 50% more expensive than the Radisson Blu (which is nice).
If you prefer authentic hotels rather than chain hotels, this is the place to be. Adahan has a rooftop restaurant that serves good food and delicious breakfast. It also has a little souvenir shop selling divers items from local artists. Staff is very helpfull.
1 - good location and neighborhood 2 - breakfast view 3 - decoration 4 - attention well for body towel for girls
1 - bad smell in spaces 2 - poor breakfast
rooms are understated, yet sophisticated; great breakfast buffet; nice rooftop terrace
for such a lovely hotel, the front desk area could use an upgrade - it feels a bit like a youth hostel upon entry; not great at making espresso drinks at the restaurant
This hotel is an old townhouse and it has been renovated beautifully by the owners. The rooms are bright and airy and the bed really comfortable. The staff and owners are so friendly, plus the restaurant/bar area at the top of the building is a real winner. Spectacular views over Istanbul. Location is close to some really good restaurants too.
There really wasn't anything we didn't like, and we'd definitely stay here again.
The location, as well as the formidable terrace overlooking Sultan Ahmed and its mosques, and further the very kind staff. Which took its time again and again to explain things, even while a telephone was ringing. Very committed, excellent people!
Beautiful view from the open terrasse over Golden Horn. Restaurant was like to be home. Sofas, books, relaxing areas and lots of arts. Very delicious breakfast.
We got a standardroom, and it was okay, except that windows was to atrium, so no daylights in our room.
The hotel reminds me of my grandmother's house it's got that feel of authenticity and warmth like an old house. Breakfast on the terrace is great and all food is organic. No chemicals used in the rooms and its very environmentally friendly. Location js excellent and there is a metro station just around the corner.
We loved the style of this hotel, bright, clean and stylish rooms. Breakfast was the best we had in Turkey and the views from the terrace were beautiful.
The roof top terrace and dining area are really great! Like chilling out in a friends livingroom.
Rooms are sparse - no frills and a bit small.
Beautiful rooftop terrace with views across the Golden Horn. The perfect place to relax with a drink or a meal all day long. The owners and staff made every effort to make us comfortable and meet our requirements.
Nothing of note.
This hotel is full of charms that it is hard to be bitter while staying there. The room was perfectly cleaned and spacious enough for my needs. The breakfast was something I looked forward to every morning up on the top floor with a stunning view of the city. The staff were great very friendly and helpful giving me directions and great advise.
I got in peak summer so always took a while for the room to cool down. I really didn't enjoy any other room among my travels across Turkey after this place.
location, architecture of bldg
broken chain in room, stuff I have asked for in reservation were not prepared in advance in room
Restaurant and rooftop bar and boutique are the cherry of this hotel. If only the service were a bit better and more attentive throughout. Beautiful building, spacious rooms and bathrooms. You can't expect everything from this place if you book the cheapest rooms. I found the upgraded midtier rooms to be airy and quiet and quite lovely.
Service in the restaurant was not so good. But it's too nice up there to care. Housekeeping service was just ok. There could be shelving in the shower to put soap and shampoo.
The Adahan isn't for everyone, but for those who appreciate a lovingly restored building with a great staff and a fantastic rooftop view, it's a wonderful place to stay
The shower drain didn't work well.
Location and comfort
We stayed at this Hotel with family (Three Rooms) for 5 nights.. I booked on basis of New York Times and Conde Nast reviews. Nevertheless, we were quit disappointed, distressed and disillusioned with overall experience. It has Excellent location, painstakingly & gracefully restored building & rooms, beautiful Rooftop eatery with local organic food with nice view.
However the hotel is practically devoid of any service, with spartan, uninvolved, untrained & indifferent staff .. The list of minor service annoyances are exceedingly long, especially considering the kind of tariff being charged. As such few of which was attended, when informed the owners, and others I reckon is brand's "Ostensible" USP. Subsequently one just have to give up, considering does wish to spoil the holidays getting hassled. Moreover the management attitude seemed impassive & blank, in as much as they wish to dissuade certain strata of customers. Essentially they were unlikely to give a damn. In the end the place simple does not become more then sum of it parts.
Breakfast was nice, terrace fabulous. I enjoyed the small boutique upstairs, and we in fact purchased one of the lovely pen and ink pieces that were being exhibited. Location is IDEAL -- not far from the Galata Tower and bridge, but tucked amid all the coolest evening spots.
Be sure you have another point of reference to communicate to cabbies. Even using the hotel's card, we were once dropped off (late at night) at Taksim Square, which is quite a walk after dinner.
The rooftop terrace is amazing. The location is perfect and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
Only minor criticism: breakfast buffet wasn't filled up very well at a later time. Some rooms are slightly dark (Next time I would probably not book the cheapest rate at this hotel). Nothing major.
The view for breakfast, the service, the room was quiet
Very close to the Istiqlal st., but from the other end. Hence about 30-40 min walk to Taqsim square. Breakfast ws tasty and plenty.
Very unpleasant stairs, so we had to carry the luggage as soon as we entered the building! We then checked in with a little English speaking staff! So we couldn't get enough info about t the neighbourhood and surrounding attractions. The room toilet and shower were not clean , smelly, with poor fittings and furniture. Our stay was regretfully our worst experiece in Istanbul, as we stayed in other 2 hotels in istanbul,, at Sultan Ahmed and Taksim square. I wouldn't recommend it to other visitors, cheers.
Likes: - Good initial point for leisure travelers to discover the city. - Quality of the breakfast and the location (rooftop-terrace) is very good. - Good WiFi in rooms. - Owners are very kind and helpful (they should spend more time at the reception desk, because the receptionists would need some improvement in customer orientation and kindness).
Don't likes: - The hotel deserves max. 3*, not 4*. - Very spartanic (not minimalistic) rooms and also a little bit run-down. Whole hotel would need some refurbishing. - For the double bed there was only one bedside table, although there would have been space for another one. - Thin walls, so we even could hear the sighs of our room-neighbors. - Restaurant recommendations of the receptions were not the best. They sent us to standard "mass-touristic" places. - Hotel has no classical lobby, it has rather a "guest house" feeling. - In the minibar there were only a few bottles of mineral water. - Hotel is not worth the money.
