Surprisingly charming small hotel in a scarily colorful neighborhood, actually well-served, a 5-10 minutes walk from Sultanhamet Square (Blue Mosque, Ayasofia, tramway stop). Really, really cute at a low price, and the staff proved - more than kind - genuinely helpful! Shower tends to flood bathroom (have rubber slippers). The Turkish bath they suggested us (a business partner) was a disappointment. Also, nightlife in the immediate neighborhood is limited to kitsch tourist- only venues. Remember you've got to pay in cash (Euros ok)!

A very warm and personal welcome. All the rooms were clean and comfortable. Everyone was outstandingly friendly and helpful throughout our stay and really put themselves out with practical advice, including new year's eve restaurant and taxi bookings at short notice.

The hotel has a great location as it is just around ten minutes walking distance to the most historical places and also the tram station. Its simple rooms were so clean and that is what I liked more in this hotel. The variety of the breakfast could be better improved. Be aware that the hotel policy stated that families with children younger than four years old are not welcomed at this hotel.

The hotel has a very good position, not more than 5 minutes walking to Sultanahmet. It is very comfortable, the rooms are very clean. The hotel has a very good position, not more than 5 minutes walking to Sultanahmet. It is very comfortable and the rooms are very clean; towels are changed every day. What is very important is that the staff is great and they speak very well English. When you arrive they will present you a little bit the city and where it is ok to go and you can ask them for help whenever you need. The breakfast is basic, the same every day but you can find something to eat.I Can say that you will feel like in a family. The hotel is very nice decorated and even the smell will introduce you in the atmosphere of Istanbul.I Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The bathroom is very small and if you want to take a shower the entire floor will be full of water because the shower cabin it's closed only with a curtain.

The staff was really decent and generous. I felt at home very much. The room was completely clean. The location was within a 5-10 minutes walk distance from the blue mosque and a train station. The circumstance was quiet because few tourists were walking around. I could not use the wireless LAN at the 2nd floor (European "2nd" floor).

Lovely and helpful proprietors, excellent location, tasty breakfast. They also arrange a reasonably priced shuttle to the airport (10 euro). Rooms are very bare-bones, yet clean. The rave reviews posted by others are deserved. BUT, potential guests should be forewarned that: (a) the wireless does not work; (b) the rate is quite high given the minimal level of amenities. I think 80e per night is excessive; (c) the breakfast is served quite late in the morning (8:30) so people with early flights or those hoping to get on line at major tourist attractions at 9 a.m. will have to do without breakfast. Finally, they take cash only. I did not see this listed on the website. Luckily, the city has many ATMs that dispense both TL and euros.

This is a lovely little boutique hotel at a really great price. The staff is small and therefore a really personal service. We arrived after a hellish overnight bus experience, and were given a family room with two double beds instead of the twin we booked out of sympathy! Was very kind. Breakfast was lovely, one of the best buffets we had in Turkey. The hotel was faultless really and both my friend and I will be recommending it to friends and family.

The Hotel staff are extremely nice and friendly. Yes it is subjective but be assured they will be trying to help you in any way they can. The hotel itself is a nice, out of the hustle of Istanbul, you can peacefully relax after long day of sightseeing walks Nothing, however perhaps the hotel reception can have a dedicated and manned security at night time. In most case, it may not be needed if you need not to step out after midnight.

The hotel exceeded all my expectations. Very hospitable management and personnel. Very good and interesting location, providing you the real atmosphere of old Istanbul. Very close to all sightseeings. Very nice and clean room. Hotel provides customers with Istanbul guide-books that is very helpful (I have seen such service for the first time in my not very short life). Nice buffet. And the highest possible quality/value proportion. Special gratitude to Mehde, the general manager, who does his best for providing comfort and information to the guests. .

People who run Ahmet Efendi Evi are very friendly and always ready to help. Excellent localisation. Wouldn't hesitate to book again. It is not a big thing but after a couple of days you might get bored with breakfast menu.
