This was our second stay at the And Hotel, which we originally chose because of its location, close to many of the places of interest and the panoramic view from the hotel's breakfast terrace and restaurant. Returning after two years, it was obvious that the hotel has undergone an extensive renovation and redecoration, whilst retaining some of the original charm. We were very pleased with our spacious, comfortable room, but it could have been improved with the addition of two chairs for use when watching television. Breakfast is no longer served in the sixth floor restaurant, with panoramic view over the Sultan Ahmed quarter, but in a location at ground floor level which overlooks a site cleared, prior to building development. The shower cabin, with sit-down feature, is difficult to use. In order to use the shower, guests have to step up directly from the bathroom floor (a height of more than half a metre) with nothing to hold on to. Stepping down again when the shower cabin is wet, is even more difficult. The hotel ought to install a handrail (and possibly two steps as well) to enable guests to climb in and out of the shower cabin, without risk of injury.

The And Hotel offers a friendly and safe, as well as a quiet respite in the center of the tourist district of Istanbul. The view of The Blue Mosque was lovely, even from my 1st Floor window. The people at the front dest were kind and helpful. As a single, female, elderly traveler I was very pleased. Yet, I also noticed a number of families staying there, enjoying the extensive breakfast possibilities. Although the building directly across from the hotel was gone, the resulting dusty vacant lot may soon become a construction site. The resulting, unobstructed view of The Blue Mosque Skyline was excellent, yet future construction may not be so pleasant. Call or e-mail ahead of time, as construction may not take place for quite some time.

The room was very clean and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and service-oriented. The ongoing construction next door that doesn't stop until 10:00pm really isn't a plus. The room was very comfortable but also very small.

Friendly and efficient, perfect for people who prefer smaller hotels with character to large chains. Our room was modern and spotlessly clean, and the location is excellent, with marvellous views straight across to the Aya Sofia. (Apparently the building opposite that was demolished earlier this year is to be replaced with a green area, so the view will stay.) The tramstop is only a few minutes walk away, but the hotel itself is on a wide, well-lit but virtually traffic-free street and the rooms are lovely and quiet. Really enjoyed our stay.

Our booking was not communicated to the hotel by your office. We were very lucky to be able to stay as we were given the last room and the city was very busy. We were disappointed with your service.

My sister and I were very impressed by the prompt, friendly, courteous service received from Aydin Savrik, information officer at the And’s reception desk. Nothing was too much trouble for Aydin, who cheerfully exchanged our Euros for Turkish Lira, provided reliable directions and suggestions for excursions and helped us find a local guide. As two 'directionally challenged' sisters travelling on our own, we really appreciated his help and sense of humour. As well, Aydin responded very promptly to questions e-mailed to the hotel prior to our departure. Our 3rd floor room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the Aga Sophia, especially at night. The 5th floor rooftop restaurant offered incredible views of the Sophia, Blue Mosque, Bosphorus Strait and the city of Istanbul. The And is well situated in the old part of the city, being a 5-minute walk to the Blue Mosque and close to the Grand Bazaar and Egyptian Spice Market. The food served in the 5th floor restaurant was excellent, as was the service. I highly recommend The And for its friendly, knowledgeable staff, cleanliness, decor, location, restaurant and amenities, including a room safe and comfortable, spacious reception area.

The reception staff are excellent, quick in checking us in, kept their word - they gave us a good room with a view the moment a room was available, very attentive and ever ready to please and assist! Clean hotel, great location to the various touristy spots - Blue Mosque, Tokapi, Aryan Sophia and proximity to various restaurants that served good food and reasonably priced. No complaints but full of praise for this hotel.

Our rooms on Level 5 had fantastic views of the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sophia! It was great! The location of the hotel was also a great plus! We found it was so close to all the major attractions!! Fabulous hotel! The hotel staff also made our stay wonderful as they were courteous, helpful and friendly! Our room was a little small but we were told it was because of the balcony we had. It wasn't much of a problem as were are not big people but if we were any taller, I think the space would have been a challenge.

If you want to stay at sultanahmet, best possible location. Amazing view at night from the roof top restaurant. Rooms and hotel facilities much nicer than the current homepage lets expecting. Very clean rooms, good beds, Standard much higher for this price than in other big citites (I.E. Barcelona, London, Amsterdam).Very friendly staff, breakfast terrace outside. Being under 30, we felt the youngest, but we definitely enjoyed this very calm and quiet hotel. I can definitely recommend the And hotel. The internet webpage is (so far) poor, don't understand why the Hotel doesn't change it? Turkish coffee we asked for was great, but the breakfast coffee and tea were disappointing. However, no other points to complain about at all and the breakfast as such was really ok!

The location is right next to Aya Sofia and Cistern Basilica. We requested the room with balcony and the room was absolutely tiny! I had never been in such a small room in my life. The hotel were helpful though and changed our room for one without a balcony and the room was much bigger. So it's better to do without the balcony.

Superb location in the old city of Istanbul, very close to all the main sites of interest. The hotel is also beautifully situated with stunning views from the rooms and 360 degrees from the top-floor restaurant. Located next to the Hagia Sophia, TopKapi Palace, Blue Mosque, etc. A new charming community park is being constructed right in front of the renovated hotel right on top of the underground Basilica which will greatly add to the charm and location of the hotel. It will make the breakfast on the hotel's pleasant ground floor terrace unforgettable. The hotel has a superb opportunity to make more business if it manages to improve the kitchen of the top floor restaurant. The stunning views and the pleasantly decorated restaurant are not balanced with good cuisine. I'd advice the management to simplify the menu to just a few choices, but choices that are top-quality and that distinguish themselves from the offering of the surrounding restaurants. A smaller menu of a few excellent choices will guarantee success, spread the fame and name of the hotel, yet reduce the kitchen management. The breakfast menu should ideally be geared a bit more to the international tourist.

“The hotel was clean and food was really good, sightseeing was within easy reach from the hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, and they booked our restaurants/ taxis / transport to places we wished to visit outside the area. One member of staff who deserves recognition and went far beyond the call of duty was a young man called Fikret. We are so thankful for his honesty & support with a problem we had (self inflicted) and cannot praise him enough.” |carol, Uzumlu Fethiye |
