Small hotel with interesting historical atmosphere. Taxi drive had trouble locating it but rang reception for assistance. Tell taxi driver it is in the Citadel.
No other guest staying at hotel while we were there, making it feel a bit impersonal. Our bed was not made each morning during our stay.
The whole property was beautifully and comfortably furnished with old style furniture. Breakfast was lovely Everything was just perfect - our favourite hotel on a recent 5-stop hop in Turkey
•Super helpful staff (or owner?) who woke up at 3am to get me a taxi to the airport •Beautifully restored historic building •Excellent location for visiting museum, restaurants and shops
Very convenient for the Citadel and the Museum of Ancient Civilisations. Very nice hotel.
The Angora House Hotel is in a restored traditional house near the castle. It is very clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The position is deal for visiting the historic sites of Ankara.
Although there was plenty of hanging space there were no shelves or drawers for clothes.
Everything was excellent. The owner Mesut was the best host ever. The hotel is very clean. The location is super!!! We highly recommend this hotel.
THE BEST PLACE FOR A TOURIST TO STAY IN ISTANBUL!
We enjoyed our big, comfortable corner room with views over the street and beyond. The staff were wonderfully helpful with anything asked, and very polite. Lots of nearby interesting places to visit & eat. Really good breakfasts.
There was nothing at all that we didn't like about Angora House Hotel.
Beautiful rooms, best bathroom in Turkey! A lot of windows in the room, so lovely natural light & breeze if you want them open (air con also). Beautiful breakfast. Super friendly & helpful staff - helped with our train bookings, taxi bookings, food recommendations and any request we could think of.
Cannot fault the hotel at all. The location is literally within the castle, which seems to be having a bit of work done to it.
the little courtyard, wonderful place to relax. excellent breakfest (had been said before) very friendly staff the atmospere in old downtown Ankara
room was rather dark no desk in the room (but you can go in the courtyard instead)
The perfect location for exploring the Citadel and the Museum of Anatolian civilizations. The staff were friendly, helpful and made extra efforts to make sure or stay was great!
I would recommend phoning ahead if you are driving because the parking arrangements will be easier if you know ahead of time what to expect. Its easy finding the castle and walking into the castle first may be a good idea as well.
I was especially impressed with the wonderful hospitality extended to me. The manager, Mesut Tikiz was very kind and helpful. He was always available for questions and directions. The hotel is lovely.I especially enjoyed staying in such an historic building with all the antiques. The breakfasts were substantial and delicious. The location is just a few minutes from the Anatolian Civilizations Museum. Taxies are easily available and inexpesive, so it's easy to go anywhere in the city. I would highly recommend Angora House Hotel
Location, the mixture of the new buildings/bussiness's & the original population& bussiness's.
Atmospheric and charming hotel in a great location
Charming, friendly hotel with courtyard in historic section of Ankara. The room was large, comfortable and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was exceptional. Excellent restaurant right next door. Minutes from Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and Citadel.
The house and location
It is more like a business concept than 4 years ago, - but OK
The staff were very helpful and friendly. As a hotel guest you have the feeling of visiting a home of your friends. The hotel building is a very interesting classical house - a unique adventure.
Nothing to mention
Gorgeous little hotel right inside the castle. Decor is very Turkish and staff are friendly and helpful. It is seconds away from the Museum of Anatalolian Civilisations which is splendid and worth a few days.
The only thing was that the heating wasn't turned on and it took ages for the room to warm up.
proximity to the main places of interest ie the castle itself (the hotel is actually inside the citadel) and closeness to views around.
Late start each day for breakfast.
The hotel is small, so it is like staying in a friends beautiful house . The restoration of this Ottoman building is excellent and one gets a great feeling of comfort and relaxation being there. I enjoyed my time staying there last year that we came again a year later and I would not bother to stay anywhere else in Ankara. You are made to feel at home at Angora House Hotel
The problem with the area if you stay in the late summer or autumn is food. Turkey,( and certainly not the Citadel area of Ankara) is not a late night place in general There is a good restaurant next door to the hotel but they close very early, however we found good food in a cafe on the street that runs down just outside the Citadel Gate , even then it is wise to go early.
We stopped here for one night and found the hotel to be fine enough. They do not provide bottled water in the rooms so bring your own.
While it was "good enough" we felt that Ankara in general was the least welcoming of the places we visited during our month in Turkey
The service is really beyond any praise, ready to help with everything you need: reserving tickets for bus, giving practical recommendations about trip organization, very friendly and helpfull. Original design of rooms makes you feel like in Turkey of Osmanli time.
Breakfast was quite scanty.
The proximity to the Anatolian Civilizations Museum and the citadel markets.
The staff are superb. They couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. I had s problem booking a train ticket and they went out of their way to assist us. We will definitely return.
