Located in Istanbul’s historic district, Sultanahmet, Star Holiday Hotel offers rooms with satellite TV. Its rooftop breakfast room overlooks the Marmara Sea and the Blue Mosque.
Score from 135 reviews Good
This converted Ottoman Mansion is along the banks of the Bosphorus Strait, 325 ft from the Blue Mosque. Its breakfast restaurant features panoramic views of the Marmara Sea.

In a 19th-century building which was completely renovated in 2013, Boutique Saint Sophia has views of the Hagia Sophia courtyard and offers luxurious rooms decorated with marble and teak wood.
Score from 365 reviews Wonderful
Other reviewers have already pointed out that the hotel is in an excellent location. We couldn't agree more. An elderly gent, with walking stick, was able to visit on foot all the major sights in Sultanamet . Added to this the hotel is above a narrow, traffic free street, filled with lively restaurants and cafes. The hotel rooms are small, and the wifi rather iffy, but these minor negatives were easily outweighed by the accommodating staff, especially Ayhan who, in English, helped sort out various tourist details for us.
Location is excellent for a quick tourist visit and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Good price as well compared to others I was looking at.
The breakfast was not great and the room is definitely small and well worn. But totally acceptable for the price.
- breakfast - friendly staff - you are right there in front of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia - a lot of restaurants around
Everything was perfect!!!
Comfortable hotel, friendly helpful staff. Great view while having a drink on roof terrace!
Friendly staff - nothing too much trouble. Laundry changed daily. Our air conditioned room was compact (typical of old city centre hotels) but spotlessly clean. Fluent English speaking reception staff. Try lunch or dinner in the rooftop restaurant - excellent views of the Hagia Sofia museum and the city.
breakfast staff location the street of the hotel
size of the room Wi Fi service
Excellent location near the main sights of Instambul, in an area also restricted to the main stream of traffic, with a convenient tram stop. Ask the staff to have dinner on the terrace to enjoy a spectacular view on Aya Sofia.
The bathroom was very small; the room wasn't clean at first.
I couldn't stay in Ares Hotel because my boyfriend got sick and we had to cancel our trip to Istanbul, but the staff was very kind and allowed us to reschedule it!
Very attentive personnel, beautiful location, lots of restaurants, 2-minute walk to the Blue Mosque, Sophia.
Tiny washrooms, internet is not so fast
Best place, near to every thing. Tram ,Hagia sophia, resturants
There's nothing i really liked about this hotel
The room was very small, and very noisy at night, even though i closed all the windows it was impossible to sleep. Breakfast was very poor, the worst i had in all Turkey. I don't recommend this hotel at all for the price they charge you
Excellent Location. Street environment. Owners Hospitality.
unregular Wi-fi connection.
Excellent location and friendly staff.
Very small room and same menu in breakfast everyday.
location is excellent staff are friendly service is nice value for money manager (eyup) is a brother
Comfortable place at very reasonable price within a couple of minutes walk of most of the sights of Istanbul yet off the MBB ain street so quiet once the restaurants closed.. The most impressive thing about Ares was the staff who really did go out of their way to help.
location and helpful staff. We didn't like our room because the window was looking at a wall. After 3 days we asked to change it and thankfully some others have departed and gave us a better one(minimally better one). It's a hotel to stay for only a couple of days and not for a week
Unfortunately, the hotel was way below my minimal (trust me!) expectations. The toilet did not flush properly (its button was held by glue). Breakfast was moderate to poor serving the Same things again and again. Rooms were exceptionally small and smelled of dew. Wi-fi didn't work all the time. But the worst bit was that the room was looking up at next house's wall. Shades of light were coming in. Sheets were torn and with holes. I'm sorry guys, but when i read Booking's reviews I would have thought they would be more trustworthy
Location Staff Breakfast
Bathroom smell lake of some facilities
Staff was helpful, location was superb, the view from hotel terrace is magnificent. Yusuf offered us his Istanbulkart that we used during the stay and gave us instructions about the traffic, and he did make us feel comfortable during breakfasts.
Upon arrival we didn't get the rooms that we reserved (triple room), though we were separated in 2 double rooms. The next day while we were in the city, the management decided to put us in other triple room (much smaller than in our reservation), however that was done without either our consent or prior notification. My wife was quite shocked having found out that all her personal belongings and our child medicine was put in other room, as we always need to be alter due to son's illness. The manager apologized sincerely several times and took entire responsibility though, and offered us a better room that would be available next day. He did try to make amends for this failure during our stay.
Excellent location for tourists Friendly staff
Airco setup above bed (easy to get sick) Slow wifi speed Disturbing noises when you are at the first floor Not possible to use the roof for breakfast while it was clear mentioned with pictures and text
Loved the location of the hotel it was situated in Sultanahmet center. Amazing terrace overlooking the city which was priceless. Close to all the famous old sites and very good shopping. Staff was so friendly and always willing to help which made our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was always pleasant and they gave you water and tea in the lobby. Rooms were clean and they have a lift and wifi plus A/C!
The only main things were the rooms were small for 3 people especially with luggage. Also I wish they could give us more than one room key, but the staff tried to help us around the situation.
Location is perfect!!! Just two steps to Cistern and Sultanahmet Square, nice friendly Staff!
Bugs in the room, our room was small, no any variety in breakfast
Fantastic Location Breakfast was good
Rooms are tiny and dark. There was a mildew/mold smell in the room. Had to go into the stairwell to get decent wifi reception.
I chose this hotel for his location. Aya Sophia was the main aim. But the staff was very kindly. Good meal is there too. I received the possibility to print my boarding pass with help of the staff.
The owner and the manager is very very friendly and helpfull. The breakfest is very delicious .The location is perfect.I recommend the Ares hotel to all my friends.
