we stayed for 5 nights there. Metin, the owner, was quite helpful and he did everything by himself. Even cleaning and prepare the breakfast. We feel very "Turkish" while we stayed there as the house is decorated with Turkish carpets and cushion covers. Breakfast is the same the whole stay so it is best if he could possible make other variations. Istanbul a little bit costy to us (more than we expected) but we had a great time at Chora guest house. He provides transport transfer from and to the airport. Really helpful.
the bathroom a little bit smelly after we used it. Maybe from the water/pipe? But very clean though. Same breakfast everyday.
Very nice and helpful owner. Upgraded our room so we would have less noise in the morning.
Nothing. Rooms are small but clean. Clearly states room size on the internet so no surprises.
1)Very very rude staff (owner) 2)Individual toilet outside room(it is like public toilet). 3) towels refreshed after a day or two and has to be hanged in the toilet. 4) small sized rooms, not worth the money.
The owner is an extremely rude person, he wants the payment in Euros whereas it is clearly written on the booking.com that local currency (liras) will be the mode of payment. The room is extremely bad and it is next to breakfast room and one can easily hear the noise of rats in the night and one cannot sleep after 7 am as the owner comes in the breakfast room. The steps in the property are extremely steep, it is easy to fall on them. Lastly, the owner is an extremely greedy fellow, he wants money in every form as I paid 20 Euros for late check out as an extra payment. I will never suggest anybody to go for this property.
Breakfast and view from the breakfast room excellent. Wifi good. Close to all major sights in a quiet street. Owner helpful and friendly.
Treacherous stairs to get to the top rooms. Be careful with big bags. Owner could give more info on nearby sights and tours.
friendly and helpfull staff; room had all basic facilities; breakfast was different but nice; view of breakfast room;
stairs to reach the room were high and narrow. A bit complicated to get upstairs with lugagge;
The location was great, less than 5 min walk to the sights of Old City Istanbul Breakfast was included, with unlimited tea. It was your standard Turkish breakfast, with cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, spreads, a hardboiled egg, & bread, but I love this style, so for me it was great. There were 3 of us staying there in one room, so I figure breakfast in a restaurant would've cost 15 TL per person, so this was an excellent added value. The wi-fi connection was great. The view from our room was great. The owner was super friendly & helpful. My friend's bag was late arriving from Canada & he kept giving us updates on whether it had arrived yet or not. When it finally did, we were out, so he delivered it to our room for us. There's a market beneath the guesthouse that's owned by the same people. They have any snacks or drinks you might want. Next door is a rooftop bar, & when we were there they were passing around free shisha. They have a huge menu of Turkish & international cuisine (my boyfriend had schnitzel, I had curry, & our friend had Turkish food, & it was all good). It was a nice place for a low-key evening after the hustle & bustle of the day. Free parking (the owner even offered to let us keep our car there the whole next day while we went sightseeing) So, I would sum up our experience by saying don't expect too much. If you want the Four Seasons, it's down the street. But obviously you're talking huge money for that. The rooms & bathrooms weren't huge, but it was exactly what we needed: a place to keep our luggage & sleep. The friendly owner & location made it a winner for us. We live on the Asian side of Istanbul, & often when we have visitors, we stay one or two nights in the middle of Sultanahmet. Would I stay here again if the opportunity arose? For the price we got, yes I would!
Like I said, you can't expect too much, & then you won't be disappointed. It's a small guesthouse with no lobby (you check in at the market below the guesthouse) but for us, that was totally fine. We were thirsty anyway! The bathroom was small, but as we were only there one night, we didn't use it much anyway. These are budget accommodations, so remember that! If you are expecting a Marriott or Hilton, you'll be disappointed. As an American, I think that's what we often expect, hence the bad reviews of foreign hotels. People have written that it's hard to find, but I disagree. The streets are small, but as long as you have the adress, you should be fine.
The views from the room and breakfast place. THE owners is friendly to children .
Taxitransfert of 30€ is expansieve to wat a normale taxi Costa 50 TL.
Good place and price
The breakfast contains just the local food
It is really close to the sight-seeing places of the Istanbul.
Bed was small. And breakfast is little bit late. It starts from 8:30. Hard to find where the guest house is since it is not on the place where google map and GPS says.
Perfect spot to look around the highlights of Istanbul, good Wi-Fi
Unfriendly staff, it was very difficult to communicate using English. They just wanted to controll the customers. We use triple bed room it was almost no space, super tiny bathroom. The floor of the room was leaned. I've already read some bad reviews about the attitude of staff and thought it would be fine when we would have good mood but no way. Unfortunately, something happened and it was terrible to bare it. Additionally, before you look at your room or whatever, you must pay when you arrive. No exception.
Localization is just marvelous, and a breakfast view.... breathtaking.
The room could have been a bit bigger...
Nice view from breakfast room.
A bit expensive for what we got. Moved to a better, cheaper and well located hotel the next day.
We found the staff there was rude and not friendly. We wouldn't stay there again
Quiet area Internet breakfast close to the Sultan Ahmet mosque
1-Very very small room (especially the single room, or can say small box not room). Recommend to not have the single never 2- the behave & way of chatting of the owner lack of respect 3- difficult to find the place at first 4- expensive 5-all rooms merged together so u can hear each other. لأ انصح به
Great location, but a bit hard to find at first. Breakfast was good: Nice bread, cheese, jam, boiled egg, juices, hot coffee and tea. The owner/manager is very hospitable and helpful. He will hold your luggage before and after check in/check out. Price is reasonable, given the area. Excellent WIFI. connection.
The single room is rather small and does not have a TV, but has excellent air conditioning. The other rooms seem large enough for 2-3 persons. The location, breakfast, price, water views from breakfast room, and personality of the owner/manager make up for any deficiencies.
Nice room, very clean and good breakfast. The owner is helpful and kind. The inside is much better than the outside of the house.
In the middle of Sultanahmet, next to a restaurant street Akbiyik, but in a calm side street. From the breakfast room fantastic view of Bosporus
I took the single basic room without bath room (that is just outside the room). The room is big enough to lie down
It was tucked away in a quiet street not too far from the important sites.
I was in a single room listed as 10 sq m. It would have been a bare 5sq m, and even if the (separate, across the hall and up a high step) bathroom is included it is still way under quoted size. And only window opened to hall, not the outside. The stairs up to the breakfast area are very steep and were a challenge, I'm over 70 and struggled a bit with them.
Dont stay in a Single room!!
Dont stay in a Single room!!
Very friendly staff! we've been there for 2 days, and every morning after we get out the room, the room become clean after we come back. so we can have more comfortable stay.
A little bit narrow walking areas.
location is the only thing worthy in this hotel
The owner of the hotel is really very cold... making us very uncomfortable, not patient...
Great location, with great view from the breakfast room. And great Turkish breakfast as well.
We didn't get along with the staff very well... But maybe we were just unlucky. The guy seemed a bit moody.
Only the location is perfect but for the first time is very difficult to find it. Have to take tram T1 and get off at sultanameth/blue mosque tram station and walk ~8-10 mins.
There is no lift/elevator, the stairway is extremly thin, the breakfast is poor (one boild egg, one piece of tomatoe, ham, and bread) every day and nothing else!! The room with a single bed is only 3 m2 not 10 m2 as in the advertisement and there is no window!! (capsule room). If I go back to Turkey i will chose another hotel. For this price a littlebit expensive. There is no soundproofing beetween the rooms........
