The location is perfect: 5 mins walk to all the nightlife of Beyoglu but not crammed in a side street. The rooms are very nicely decorated even if a bit on the kitch side which makes it more interesting for me. Good quality real wood furnishings. Very clean. Very nice bedding. We were upgraded by the polite reception staff and overall the staff was very good. The little spa is very enjoyable and clean too - we enjoyed a good massage. Overall we left very happy.
Although the AC worked perfectly it did not warm the bathroom, but keep in mind that we were there during a snow storm. The bathroom does have a glass wall but it is painted so not see through, however it is true that it lacks soundproofing.
the room, the lobby
Location, room with the nice view, personnel, breakfast was good, view from terrace.
I feel cheated, as I had booked the grand deluxe room but it was not like how they mentioned it to be in description. Food is just okay. Spa is closed on Sunday. Staff is not mature enough, they themselves don't know what they are doing or saying.
The room decoration
Staff told us the spa was closed on Sunday. Would have we known that before, we could have gone on the Saturday, but they should inform the visitors. The hotel doesn't have a sea view but a view on a river. The breakfast is always the same and not as rich as in other hotels of Istanbul. I wouldn't recommend the place to my friends.
Ottoman palace decor was beautifully done - big wow factor. Excellent location, next to Sishane metro station. Breakfast ok, served in stunning rooftop restaurant with wide time window (up to 10:30am). (Transport info: Sishane metro station has several exits. Important to make the right choice (as you get off the train, on the platform, go towards the exit that begins with K (I forget its full name). Also be aware that this metro line no longer ends at Sishane, but continues to Yenikapi - many on-line maps and Booking.com's 'free guide' are out of date in this respect. Taxi fare from Ataturk Airport was 45-50 TL on the meter.)
We loved our room at Daru Sultan. Albeit a bit small with a smaller bathroom, it was decorated in a lavish gold and aqua green theme giving the room a very royal look. As a matter of fact, each room was named after a historical figure and had a detailed life story of the person in a magnificently bound book. We had a clear view of the galata tower from our room which added to the romance of the place. Each morning we could wake up to see a bit of past right in front of us and be mesmerized. The biggest pro of the hotel was that it was right next to the sishane metro station ( barely ten metres) and very near to the karakoy tram station (easily walkable within 5 minutes). Being in beyoglu, we could walk down to any of the famous eateries and spend our evenings being taken to a different land via food. I must mention the Big Chefs restaurant which was in the next building and had delectable food on its menu. Our hotel on the other hand had a very limited room service menu. But whatever we did order wad fairly good. We were too lazy to go and enjoy a meal at our rooftop restaurant, but thr view from there is one of the best. You can see most beautifully lit mosques, ferries making their to and fro journeys and the active nightlife which was a few metres away at the other end of istiklal street. Staff was ever helpful, even making our teas and meal complimentary when the service took longer than normal. Very comfortable stay for us all in all
The restaurant staff did not speak much english. I just couldnt explain to them that i wanted a chicken sausage omelette. I had to settle for a cheese omelette eventually
The room The view The manager that take care of guests in the beakfast room.
The commission exchange money was too high.I taked an airport transfert that was supposed to cost 35 euros but finally it costed me 41 euros for an old dirty car and i had to wait more than 30 min this car, better take a taxi! Spa bath didint worked but they changed our room. The cheese and bacon meat was dry pieces non fresh and i found a short hair stucked on it Bath not clean, found hairs still stucked in the bath.
Location Staff Bed Television set
Hotel management Wardrobe, to narrow for two Shower door not accessible Room Cleaning Breakfast assortment Payment issue
Staff food and spa Excellent Position and general furnishings very good indeed.we would use the hotel again
Maintenance needs to be improved in the bedroom Washbasin, general plumbing etc
The hotel is walking distance to Istiklar and Taksim. The metro is in front of the entrance and the tram is not very far either. The bed was large, the restaurant has a great view over Halic. Wi-Fi worked without any problem throughout our stay. The staff is very friendly.
Various "techical problems" : in our first room impossible to close the window completely, the TV did not work. In the second room they gave us impossible to close the fridge door, no light above the work desk. The elevator is a very small and takes a long time to start moving.
The hotel lived up to it's website photos! We choose the hotel because it did not look like the standard hotel found around the world and it did not disappoint. We had the best night sleep we have ever had away from home. The staff were excellent!!
location, view from the window,
Location, cleanliness. Breakfast. Room was very nice with great views. Its really a 3 star hotel. People are friendly. Expensive inside compared to restaurants being on your doorstep. They could make more use of the bar and the roof top by putting some events on
Coffee was not refilled each day and some times cups taken. Tv worked they came and fixed it , then it did not work a, fixed it again but loss bbc. Some light bulbs did not work in poor places, the hall, the loo, which made things difficult. The toilet and shower are partioned by a glass door which is reasonably transparent , so limited privacy.
The reception stuff was very helpful.
The breakfast was very poor. The service in the breakfast room was horrible.
- Excellent location - Great view - Fancy rooms and decoration - Friendly and helpful staff
- Some rooms should have more attention and maintenance (Blocked and loose sink, broken window frame...etc) - Bathroom's glass walls should be darkened and door to have a lock - Breakfast buffet needs to have more varieties
nice location, it is quite near the metro station Sishane，but make sure you go out from the exit of kapasges,；nice view of sea for some rooms. I guess room 505，506 are with good view.
simple breakfast but with good view. only one bottle of water for free.
The room is pretty
The distance to the pier or trams
Beautiful rooms, great view, friendly staff and close to istiklal street.
The room is beautiful decorated. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is good. The location EXCELLENT! I would recommend this hotel.
I would suggest the reception to be a little more kind/nicer and smile a little. They are professional though.
Unfriendly staff - the ladies on the reception were most unfriendly! Spa was not open and the reception staff were not sure when it would be open. Service was terrible - we ordered coffee and 45 minutes later it had not come - there was only us in the restaurant! I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again!
The hotel is in gr8 location . center of Istanbul main attraction , istaklal street is the 10 minutes walk and if you want to go my metro sishane station is just outside hotel ..the room was one of the best ive seen , Ottoman style,a gr8 hotel and breakfast was very lavish and nice,,,manager Afşar İlker was a gr8 help and helped us a lot during our trip ..breakfast at hotels rooftop restaurant is gave wonderful views of istanbul a gr8 hotel to stay at
excellent value for the "discounted rate" 134 Euiros...art and decor kind of amazing and staff very helpful
I experienced a strange occurrence in which, at 12:00 (midnight) when I guess a new shift arrived, suddenly they were calling repeatedly, and then came up to knock on the door and announce that a receipt (acquired earlier from the desk) was urgently needed...no explanaion and I was unhappy about being awakened. I'm sure an usual occurrence.
They let me stay until 3:00 pm without paying extra on the check out date.
Very poor service. I had to call them a few times for room service. The fridge didn't work at all. You have to call them every day to get the clean cups and tea and coffee in your room.
