Great staff, delicious breakfast, excellent location if you want to stay in Sultanahmet, there is a school across the street with a very loud PA system and bell that rings a lot. Didn't bother us at first as the prayer call is very audible so that already had us awake, but it reached the point where the ice cream truck sounding bell was going off 4-5 times per hour, that was excessive. And it was happening outside of school hours too.
Nothing really not to like. We had made a decision to stay in Sultanahmet and went in knowing that we would be woken with Prayercalls, just the school noises were unexpected.
Just located behind the Blue Mosque, so location is wonderful. Very quite in the evening, out of our expectation. Breakfast is simple but good enough. Staff are very polite and friendly.
nothing to complain
Close Proximity to all the major attractions in the Sultanahmet area. Hotel staff friendly, helpful and charming.
Very good location just behind the blue mosque, very friendly and helpful staff, nice and spacious room and bathroom
Poor breakfast, frequent power cuts, higher charge for transfer from/to the airport from adjacent hotels. Also prayers from the blue mosque could annoy some people (we were fine with it).
The main draw of this hotel has to be the location, but also I found the decor to be really good. Interesting historical artefacts and fine woodwork. Many other hotels of similar price looked cheap and trashy, so couldn't have asked for more. Helpful staff sorted things out for us during our trip. Thanks!
The mattress was a little on the firm side on account of its being new... but I'd be unfair to complain about that! :D No complaints really :)
Beautiful, cosy hotel tucked away behind the Blue Mosque. Location couldn't have been better. The staff were all brilliant, very helpful, full of information and very good with my 2 year old son!
Can't fault it !
- staff - service level - interior - location
Cafer, the attendant at the front desk was amazing. He was helpful in many ways.
This Anatolian styled Boutique hotel is nestled in the heart of the Sutanahmet area behind the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome and is within walking distance to the major sites and surrounding by cosy restaurants.Finding your way back to the hotel is easy by foot.Upon arrival I was greeted by friendly faces who throughout my stay went out of their way to ensure that I had a pleasant stay in Istanbul. The staff were ever ready to provide advice on excursions and even went as far as calling a tour operator to confirm my pick up for a day excursion. The room itself had all the comforts of home and was super super clean- in all teh facilities were excellent. The warmth and charm of this Hotel coupled with excellent staff made for a truly memorable exoerience in Istanbul. On next return to Istanbul I will be staying at Hotel Gem...meant Hotel Djem
Staff is great (especially Omer Bas) Location is wonderful
Very poor bed comfort Sound isolation poor (other rooms, outside noise) Rooms too small Breakfast is limited
Weather Hotel Siteseeing
Crowded Noise Prices
Almost everything including free drinks and chocolates in room fridge and variety of teas in room. We reached there at 1:00am and someone was there at reception(actually 2-persons and they came out to pick up our loguage as our taxi reached there) to welcome us
Room was a bit small but comfortable. It had just one blanket and a thin quilt.
We both like with my wife the staff, so kind and qualified. The room we stayed was marvelous cause the view was Blue Mosque. Not only english spoken also italian spoken by the staff very well. İ have been many times to İstanbul and stayed many hotels but Hotel DJEM is the best about location, ambiance and staff. İf you want to feel as in time warp i definitely recommend...
- location couldn't be better - the staff is amazing and always ready to help - the room was spacious and the decoration was unique of a boutique hotel - the breakfast had a nice selection Overall this hotel had everything I wished for
While I was there the wifi tended to stop working for an hour or so every day but the staff fixed it when advised
Excellent location next to the Blue Mosque and within walking distance to most of the most popular tourist sites. Extremely helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble ! Organsiation of airport transfers at a reasonable price, tea and coffee when you want it , advice on where to go and what to see. We had an early morning start at 3 30 AM and the night porter had prepared an excellent breakfast for us...... Major chains could really learn something from the service offered by this small Boutique Hotel
Absoultely nothing to say 5 star in all senses of the word
This hotel is really worth it's mark on Booking.com. Small, sweet and nice place to stay. Staff is good and helpful. Of course the pray is really loud but when you are in Istanbul it is normal.
We had booking for en-suit room but were checked in standard double. We were so tired that did not even notice the difference at first. Then the manager returned the difference in prices. We had only one night so it was not a problem but it could be.
Location - close to the popular sightseeing spots and tram stations Courteousness and friendliness of staff Heritage property with tastefully done rooms
Sharing the boundary wall with the Blue Mosque meant being woken up by the call for prayers at about 5:15 am every morning No Elevator - may not be good for elderly persons
really good staff cosy entrance hall giving you a nice atmosphere
wifi very slow
Located in a quiet street in the heart of the tourist area. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was cleaned daily and of good size. Decor of room and hotel in general is of high standard and breakfast was very good.
Room felt cold once the weather had turned. There was only one staff member at any one time and for some reason it felt like a stay at an apartment as opposed to a hotel.
Perfect location. Very clean and cosy.
It was noisy, because of some reconstructions near!
Very good location. Very near to tourists attractions eg. Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia etc.(Walking distance) Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean
nice traditional interior kind staff good location
Fantastic location in the old city, less than five minutes from the Blue Mosque. Boutique style hotel over 2 stories (it doesn't need an elevator!). Fabulous décor! Courteous staff with good English and helpful tourist advice. Good breakfast with Turkish goodies.
The location is ideal for exploring the heart of historic Istanbul. It was possible to walk to absolutely everything. The staff is extremely accommodating and extend a wonderful welcome. They are also very helpful with airport transfers, and restaurant recommendations. Guest rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are adequate - do not expect luxury of comfort or space. Breakfast offered is a nice, self service buffet. We will definitely recommend. It is a great location and value.
Room configurations vary from long and narrow to square. Wish they made use of the julliette balconies as these would be an added bonus for a few of the rooms. Not a criticism but, just a heads up - all the rooms in the main building are up a narrow, steep circular stair-recommend packing light. And photos posted on booking.com did not seem to adequately represent the hotel. The pictures led us to believe it would be more elegant.
