Ambience, Rooms, Feel of the place, Hotel Theme, Staff was extremely helpful and courteous!
Wonderful, friendly staff. Went out of their way to help us with last minute planning. Great food, good location.
Can definitely improve on their choice of inland tour operators as well as their flooring (very creaky!)
wifi could have been better
Super large room! Clean and wonderful facilities. I like the swimming pool, sauna and Turkish bath very much. They are clean and wonderful. The spa they offered was relaxing. Good location, not very far from town centre. The staff was very helpful and helped us a lot. Good view from the balcony.
Wifi is not very good in room, this might because we lived in a cave room
Goreme Kaya Otel (GKO) was modern, quiet, and clean. A 5 minute walk from town center away from the noisy busses and motorcycles. Rooms were cave-like but dust-free and clean, with all the modern conveniences like very large bath/shower, toilet (no smells), lighting, and the best shelf space for personal items I have seen anywhere. Real air conditioning not 'natural AC' (meaning a window) advertised by other hotels. Septembers days are hot and evenings do cool down, but can be too humid for a comfortable nights's sleep without AC. Our room has a private veranda, but access was through a 4' tall window meaning a bump on the head and bending over. No bugs in the hotel, but there was a faint smell of insecticide. Towels were changed every day. Included breakfast offered a great view and attentive staff. Elevator made room accessible but with a few steps to navigate. Desk staff were knowledgable and helpful in non-hotel communications for tours and transportation.
Elevators land between floors making a short set of stairs necessary to ascend/descend to your room's hallway. Steps in room also a barrier. I guess building on a hillside is partly to blame. Breakfast offerings were limited, scrambled eggs had olive oil mixed in, insufficient serving utensils forced guests to take food with their hands, and staff could be seen "sneaking" food from the buffet also using their hands. Like most places in Turkey, the smokers get the outdoors seating with the view, while non-smokers are relegated to the indoors, and stuffy areas. (IMO it should be the other way around.) Internet was impossible from our room - we would get a strong wifi signal but the connection from their hub to the internet was, at times, non-existent. Even 5-bars wifi connection was intermittent indicating a hub that was overworked and in need of replacement. (This is common with low cost wifi hubs that are running 24/7 and which begin to die every 2 years.) Beds were hard (better than too soft, though) and there was only ONE electric outlet in the room available for guest use. While I know we are in Cappadocia to relax and enjoy, the choice to go online and work should still be feasible. For many of us, internet access is essential to earning a living without which we can not afford holidays. Lobby computer had no printer, and guests were recommended to email their files to the front desk for printing. This requires an internet email account (gmail, etc.) which not everyone prefers. Also, lobby computer did not erase cookies so prior users' information would show up when clicking some information fields (such as airline checkin).
As well as being in a stunning location this hotel had the most helpful and friendly staff . This was also one of the most relaxing hotels to stay in. I would recommend it to anyone.
