Four nights here during Ramadan, we are a 40's something well travelled couple.
Firstly I have to say that the staff here are faultless, they cannot do enough to make your stay comfortable.
All of the faults lie in the premises itself, I have spent my life in hotels (I am a chef, worked in many countries, lived in every type of accom) so I do know a thing or two about the next few sentences, We live in Izmir and know a thing or two about Turkey, my wife is Turkish and tells me that in this country we just have to accept things as they are, this is still a developing country and most of the people her are not well travelled (that's what travellers are looking for right?) so they suffer from lack of experience in hospitality.
I once said that "Izmir overlooks the sea amongst other things" Gocek is not like that, Yes it overlooks the sea, it is clean and has a beautiful harbour, great shops (for my wife) and some good places to eat if you avoid the seafront and look for the homestyle places in the backstreets (always cheaper and better value) you have to go to Gocek Island but don't take a picnic, the sign forbids it on the destination jetty.
I can only agree with the other poor review on the basis of my own knowledge, having said that this is Turkey and I have stayed in some terrible places, filthy dirty hovels that bill themselves as four star and Arion is not like that, on the contrary it is very clean, has a great pool, the food is immaculate as are the outdoor area's, Yes the location is close to town right next to the Highway and the lorry noise from the road (Continuous to 2 or 3am) is horrendous if you are at the rear of the building, the construction of the internal walls is such that you can hear your fellow travellers taking ablutions and engaging in some night time activities :) (the toilet and shower for the rooms next door are right next to your bed!!!!
Breakfast and pool. Immaculate premises, lovely owners and staff (all family i guess)
