Excellent establishment. A boutique hotel in the true sense. The house has been renovated with real attention to detail, the owner provides a very warm welcome and the garden is immaculate.

Most stylish and welcoming boutique hotel that you can imagine in an sensitive and gorgeous traditional Ottoman house-hotel. Fantastic setting in the splendid UNESCO Heritage centre of Safranbolu with 2 incredibly helpful and knowledgeable owners. Can't wait to return in a few years to see the new house-hotel that is currently under renovation. In summary, loved it all!!

This hotel was a restored Ottoman house. It was beautifully presented with modern elements but still maintaining the rustic feel of the original house. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The owners have definitely added a touch of class at very reasonable prices. We would stay at this hotel again and I wish we could transplant it to Melbourne. Everything was wonderful

The hotel is in a beautifully restored Ottoman house in the midst of the World Heritage site. It strikes the perfect balance, maintaining historical integrity while providing modern comforts. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the breakfast was excellent. Our visit to Safranbolu was definitely enhanced by staying at the Gul Evi.

Everything about Gulevi was perfect, from the enchanting architecture and interior design, to the magical gardens with a blazing fire. The room was comfortable with a huge bed and view of the gardens. The manager was delightful and welcoming. The hotel is clearly a labour of love for him and he has considered every detail for his guests' pleasure, including underground music.

very helpful and friendly staff - I arrived very early after an allnight bus ride and they offered me tea and, when i fell asleep in the garden, also offered me a hotel room even though I was hours too early to check in.

Our welcome was warm and totally individual; we were made to feel like friends rather than just hotel guests. The owner, Ibrahim is an architect who has been gradually restoring some of the traditional konaks of the region; it was fascinating to find out so much about the history of the area and also to be staying in one, which was a haven of luxury right in the heart of the old town. Of all the places we are currently visiting in Turkey, this is the one place where where we definitely wish to return to and certainly to Gulevi. You must try the homemade lavender and mulberry jam - superb! It would be hard to criticise this blissful place but on a practical level, it would have been useful to have a chest of drawers (the rooms are designed to be in keeping with traditional concepts but a unit could easily be housed in the huge wardrobe). Other than this I was all perfect!
