눉We had a Booking.com reservation to stay at the Harrington Park Resort, in Antalya, from the 15th to the 22nd of August 2015.
We were supposed to have arrived at the hotel around 2 pm, but we were coming from Kayseri and Pegasus Airlines cancelled the flight. We had to take a flight from Turkish Airlines, that arrived to Antalya at 11, 30 pm. I called the hotel to say that it would be a late check in... We checked in around 00,15 am of the 16th of August. I asked if the hotel was going to charge us for the four dinners that we did not have (we are in half pension) due to the flight cancellation, but apparently, the clerk did not understand the issue… But, anyway, the check in was done, the passports were copied, and the hotel had my credit card number in the reservation form.
We went to our rooms, around 00,30 am. Between 00,45 am and 01,00 am, I received a call from the reception, saying that we had to pay for the stays right away. I asked if it had to be then or if it could be on the next morning, to what I was answered, “now, please”. In the reservation it is written that there is no deposit or pre payment. It is the second time that I come to Turkey and no hotel did this to me, up to the present…they all have been kind, too kind, and I am not used to this kind of treatment.
We did pay, my mother who is 82 years old (and that was already in her pajama) and I, each one for his (her) room, but I asked for the complaints book of the hotel; the clerk, at first did not understand, and then he got angry and asked for his responsible. In the meanwhile he said “It was not I who cancelled your flight…”. When the responsible came I explained the situation, and he asked me to write the complaint in the Guest Satisfaction Survey, that is in each room…
We find this very unpleasant, discriminatory, with a total lack of courtesy and professional sense.
Of course that I have complaint to the Turkish Hotel Association, copying the Ministry of Turism and Booking.com.
