Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Close to a lot of main attractions.
The staff was excellent, the service went beyond my expectations, they arranged a free airport pick-up (!), assisted in any way possible. I enjoyed everything at the guest house!
we liked being in a traditional property the pool and terrace were very good and staff very helpful
some of the steep hills around the property, although we did walk everywhere it would not be suitable for everyone
The caring staff- above and beyond the call of duty-working to please their clientelle, within the sumptuous hideaway that has been created amongst the derelict and neglected part of Istanbul's old city. A must for culture vultures, as this boutique hotel is also situated close to so many places of interest, and most can be seen from their rooftop terrace. An amazing view and somewhere to quietly sit and savour, daytime or evening. The hot and cold breakfast is extremely good with lots of variety, and this is served open buffet style from a glass lounge which also offers spectacular views. Hey, and breakfast is served until 10.30am, for those who like a lay in. What a start to the day!! Tea and coffe seems to be on hand throughout the day. Just help yourself. The rooms are elegant, clean and extremely comfortable- decadence, in sharp contrast to the surrounding area. I suppose you have to see it to believe it! The guests at this hotel, during our stay, were varied in nationality, but mostly English speakers, and all seemed like minded and very socialable. A wonderful experience which we intend to repeat!
I didn't dislike anything. However, I do have a few small criticisms. The mini bar could, maybe have a choice of some alcohol-wine etc. It is at an extra cost, after all, so why not provide it?? The bathroom mirror in our room was so highly positioned that it was impossible to use. Then I am short in stature!!!!! So not really anything to complain about, and the whole experience was superb, so these points are quite unimportant, overall. Be aware that the hotel is situated in an elevated position, and the hotel itself has many staircases, which may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties. Rooms without staircases are available, if you book in advance, and taxis are plentiful and inexpensive.
Comfortable beds, bathroom amazing, location the best. Breakfast was OK? The staff were very friendly.
The Office Manager put us wrong about a day trip we asked to book for us down to Galipoli with a driver/guide. The driver was very good but didn't speak English very well or know much about Galipoli, so we had to pay extra for an extra guide when we were down there. The owner of the hotel meet with us the next day and we sorted it all out, recovered our costs and obtained a discount on the tour... It was a bit upsetting as Galipoli is a very important place to visit for us NZers and Australians.
Room View Staff Breakfast Style Location
Location is very near Eminonüs, very convenient.
We have booked a room with 2 single beds and they sent an email to us to confirm about 15 days before we arrived, but it is a double bed room when we arrived and nobody helped to solve the problem. The tap is too long and it make the water everywhere when washing hands. They lack of various facilities like there is no room for towels and the bottles of shampoo and gel in the bathroom.
the building the staff the terrace and the pool the location
little bit noisy the street a bit quiet at night
Lovely staff Overall character of hotel Peaceful Lovely view from breakfast area
stayed here at the beginning of our Turkey trip and at the end. At the beginning paid an extra 35 Euros per night to upgrade to a superior room with a seaview (rm 202). Nice room with 4 windows, 3 of which overlooked the river. 3 weeks later shown to a superior room with a seaview (rm 203) which as much smaller with 2 windows, one of which had the curtain closed because it overlooked an ugly derelict concrete building. The basin had a crack in it which had been plastered and the pedal on the pedal bin did not work in the toilet Taxis are unable to find this hotel even though the hotel give guests instructions to give taxi drivers
Everything except for having to walk a steep hill
On top of a steep hill
-The panoramic view -The breakfast -The room -The staff -the proximity of main sites of interest and the Bosphorus
-the steep hill some of the adjacent locations en route -the run down state and litter on adjacent street and derelict sites -could not use our shower
quiet and very nice hotel with pool and a spelndid view on Bosphore, at few minutes from the New Mosquée.
not easy to find but the hotel propose to pick you up at your arrival at the airport.
HHK hotel was a serene and graceful "home" in Istanbul. The staff were polite and helpful and made the guests feel looked-after without being over the top. It is simple, clean, interesting and good value, and the terrace and views are sublime. I ended up staying in Istanbul longer than planned because the hotel made it easy to be there. It's an amazing and intense city, for me it was great to start and end the day peacefully enjoying the view and the calm efficiency of the hotel.
It can be difficult to find the first time - my taxi driver really struggled, and we had to be found and rescued by the hotel staff. Once you're there it is easy to find your way back. If you're not being picked up at the airport by the hotel shuttle bus, I suggest asking for detailed instructions from the hotel before arriving in Istanbul, so you can pass them on to drivers.
The staff at this hotel were exceptional and always willing to help. Our room had a fantastic view of the city and the included breakfast was very good. Turkish coffee on arrival and the views from the terrace were superb. Close to the magnificent Süleymaniye Mosque and the Hamamm is nearby too. Overall a great place.
If you took the option of a shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel you will have reservations about the area as it is in a quite dilapidated part of old town. However do not fret as our 7 nights there we encountered no problems while walking through the streets at night and the locals were happy enough to give us directions when we got lost on our first night.
Such an amazing view of the Golden Horn and out to the Bospherous. Easy walk to Sultanehmet Square. Non commercial part of the old city.
Full of charm and character, this excellent little hotel is a lovely little oasis with fantastic views of the Bosphorus and city within a rundown, but safe and relatively quiet area of the Old City. The advantage of the location is that the metro station is 5 minutes walk and ferries to all destinations 10 minutes walk and most of the major historic sites within 20 minutes walk. The reception staff are knowledgeable and give an introduction to the city and the location of major landmarks and historic sites when you arrive. There were five of us in our party and we stayed for an extremely pleasurable two weeks. The small swimming pool was a most welcome bonus after returning from a hot outing. Our rooms were quiet and always properly cleaned and made up and the staff are friendly and helpful . We thoroughly recommend the hotel and we found the area to be an advantage. It is not a tourist area so there were people going about their daily chores, children playing outside their houses and we were privileged to witness the locals celebrating a Kurdish wedding in one of the ancient streets.
Lack of good restaurants close by, although within 5 minutes walk there are some reasonable cafe's with basic menus and amazing views in the side streets near the Sulemaniye Mosque
I really liked the service. Very friendly, very personal, very professional! They let us check in early. The owner himself sat down with us to guide us on how to get around the city, where to go, how to get there. He gave us a welcome package with our name on it, I thought that was a very personalized detail. He was very polite and super nice, made us feel very welcome!. The view to the city from the pool and breakfast area was amazing! A pristine pool. A very very good breakfast! Delicious eggs, cold cuts, several cheeses, yogurt, several breads, juices, cereals, at least two other hot dishes, fresh fruit, coffee, cakes, you name it, they had it! The rooms we found adorable with a touch of a "castle room", very classic, made us feel like we were, well, ... in Istanbul! The location is pretty central, a bit hard for a taxi driver to find, but the staff makes sure they give you a sheet with exact directions to give your taxi driver, and no problem. We loved walking around that neighborhood, there is a beautiful mosque near by, and walking to the tramway was an adventure because we took the side streets with all the shops, the tramway is very close, but we chose to take the long way and just explore and feel the essence of this gorgeous city. Another plus was that they offered to take us to the airport at 3:30 in the morning, so we did not have to take a cab and get ripped off, (taxi drivers tried to take advantage of us whenever they could, haha). Our driver to the airport was on time and charged us a fair amount. Overall, we were very happy with our stay in this cozy hotel, good location, excellent staff, clean, super cute rooms!! Would definitely stay in this hotel again, and would recommend to people!
In contrast to other big hotels, the HHK hotel is a small and comfortable hotel. The personel is kind. The small but yet lovely swimming pool and the magnificent view made our stay in the hotel very pleasant. The authentic style of the hotel and the rooms and the very helpful staff are a plus!
For some the location might be a problem. It is located in a run-down neighborhood. Nevertheless the hotel is magnificently restorated and located on the top of a hill. The view over the Golden Horn and the city is magnificent.
The most impressive aspect of my visit was the quality of service by all members of staff. They were all extremely attentive and very, very helpful. The terraces and the pool-side offered gorgeous views of the Bosphorus and is a delight.
The swimming pool The views The staff The food
The first impression of the neighborhood (once you get used to it, it is more than fine, and very safe, they told us)
this boutique hotel is hard to find but well worth it once you do. Located in an original old neighborhood it is only a 10 minute walk from the grand bazaar. The staff are very helpful & the building is very unique. The views & pool are special.
Based in a xix century wooden Otoman mansion, with a beautiful terrace facing the Golden Horn and a small swimming pool, it is a nice place for the relaxed atmosphere in the middle of Istanbul's historic quarter. It's situated at 5 minutes walking distance from Suleymaniye mosque.
We supposedly caught good deal from Booking, not unexpensive though: 100 euros per night for a standard double room. We, thought it would be a special treat for the end of our vacation in Turkey. Sadly, we ended up getting a room just in front of the entrance desk (meaning two metters away from it), so we could hear every conversation and telephone call from the room. The person who welcomed us and gave us the key couldn't help telling us we got the best standard room because "we would be so close to them". Sarcasm made me even angrier. The room was ok, and I guess other rooms are even better, but I would suggest not to choose this kind of deals from high-end boutique hotels as you will end up getting the room nobody wants. Besides, the area where the hotel is it's really interesting in terms of architecture, but still really poor and full of old crumbleing houses. No problem by day, but it gets a little dark and scary at night.
Very good value for money Near all historic sites Warm welcome, very kind staff Good breakfast Lovely, small pool offers a nice break on hot days
Neighborhood is a bit run-down but safe
Absolutely loved our stay. It is central to everywhere and is impeccably furnished. The staff are so accommodating - like a little family. The view from our room (302) and the terrace was breathtaking! We had to stay in Istanbul for 19 days for medical treatment and being at the HHK made the whole experience such a pleasure. We got so used to the place we were sad to leave.
The hotel is based on a hill. It can be difficult at times to walk up there especially after a day's site seeing in sweltering heat. However, once you get through their doors it's so worth it!
Incredibly helpful and friendly staff
It's tricky to find, even for local taxi drivers
