Local Edirne Kapi is a perfect place to reach all parts of Istanbul. A few steep roads to reach main road for transport but over all a Good location. Old fashioned type hotel but that was nice. Staff very friendly, rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels etc. Set breakfast good. Plenty tea coffee and fruit juice.
Wifi in rooms were a little poor. And no air con. Just a fan fitted to light. Nor a suitable place for when it's very hot. We went mid September and it was still quite warm and would have liked air con. Not a suitable place for July or August as I am originally from Istanbul and I know how hot it gets and I would not have been able to stay with no air on. Good place for rest of year.
Helpfull and polite staff :) Wonderfull breakfast.
The WC was not cleaned at all, the swower cabine was not OK too.
Young staff very nice. Close to Chora church. Restaurant downstairs. The wood architecture pic the building.
Wifi pretty poor.
Very good breakfasts, nice building
Location. Be prepared to early wake up (about 7 am) if your windows are on restaurant side (restaurant staff starts setting the tables )
There is no air condition and İstanbul is too hot during the summer. The room was really warm.
Room was cleaned every day. There are a free parking near hotel. Very tasty breakfast. Not far from the old city centre (10 min. by car to the Hagya Sophia, Topkapi palace, etc.). Not far from the motorway O3.
Space, comfort, some charm from the old days, Suleiman the Magnificent restaurant in the garden, Koriye museum and Theodosius walls very near...
Noise outside at night, ancient installations...
friendly, quite responsible and sufficient personel, good location - far enough from busy streets as well as really close to main sightseeings
breakfast: no daily variety
Very nice hotel with a great atmosphere. Everyone was very kind and always willing to help. And the best thing of all - amazing breakfast!
No problem :)
The location is in Edirnekape next to the Kariye Musezi. It is a timber house for the late nineteenth century restored about 1990. Comfortable, spacious and calm, and with a lovely restaurant. Well located for ease of taxi ride to Ataturk Airport. It is away from the tourist centres of Sultanahmet and Taksim. Great centre for walking the Theodosian landwalls.
Lack of tram or metro, we used the 87 bus to Taksim which is frequent ten to fifteen minute service and also taxis.
This is an oasis of faded Ottoman elegance in a quiet area of Istanbul. The Kariye is staffed by very well trained personnel and offers a nearly 4-star service. Across the square is a lovely cafe beneath plane trees where you can sit and drink sage tea after a trip down to the mosques and palaces of Sultanahmet. Part of the hotel incorporates the Asitane, one of the cities most famous restaurants, specialising in historic Turkish dishes. There are a few hang-ups but they are trivial -see next column...
There is seldom any hot water. Power sockets are hanging off the walls. There is no garden seating for guests, only tables laid up for dinner. There are ceiling fans but no air-con. There is a complete lack of information on basics: how to get around, (you are a long way from downtown), where to buy Akbils, bus or tram tickets or stamps. When asked, the reception staff will try to provide this information but lack it themselves. The hotel is so professional that these little things, (which could be rectified for very little expense), let it down. We would certainly stay there again and highly recommend it.
The staff was very helpfull. Especially the girl at the deskfront. The hotel is in the Fatih district - you can see how Turkish people live, which is impossible in Sultanahmet which is a typically tourist area. People are nice here, food is great at local lokantesi and prices are smaller than in Sultanahmet. The hotel is next to Chora Church. Kariye Oteli is a nice place and has a "climate". Breakfasts are really good!
The bathroom needs some refurbishment. And you hear a plane from Ataturk Airport just above your head almost every minute - but after two days you get used to it :)
Good restaurant . Pleasant enough walk to main tourist area .
Hotel , apart from restaurant , way passed its best , needs complete overhaul , especially plumbing . After going to Turkey ten times in the last ten years the breakfast was by far the poorest . Very unusual for Turkey .
The friendliness of the staff and the convenience of a ground floor room.
A good hotel is all about service, friendliness and the ability to make you welcome. This was z wonderful experience, beautifully appointed and the best breakfast in turkey. I can hardly wait to go back
It was a wonderful experience- there are no negatives
Nice XIX century building in a historic district of Fatih. A part of museum complex with mosque. Amazing views. If you do not need to rush or be in hurry, try waking up in this hotel with seagulls gently singing by your open window!
N/a. Especially the personnal is amazing.
this is second time for me in this hotel ,It is very quite hotel next to Byzantain church (now it is museum) ,the breakfast is simple but rich ,the restaurant of the hotel is specialized with Ottomans meals ,decoration of the hotel reminds me of black and white classical movies ,I advice couples who want to see the romantic side of Istanbul to book in this hotel
instayed here for one night with my 87 year old mother. The hotel is located in a historic building. It is right next door to the Kariye Museum. The staff were warm, helpful and friendly. In the evening we had a meal in the Asitane restaurant, which serves OTtoman cuisine. It was excellent. Having been told the restaurant was expensive we were pleasantly surprised to find it was still cheaper than home. We had an early departure for the airport the following morning. We had ordered a taxi and it was there waiting for us when we arrived. We had booked two suites, the rooms were huge and very reasonably priced for IStanbul.
Good personal and breakfast
Room was large and beautiful. Stuff are nice and helpful.
Location is a little bit far from downtown, but the taxi is cheap and you can easily access everything.
near a nice shop for ceramic, near the museum, living in old building as feeling the history, good breakfast
I was disappointed, I booked for 3 family rooms, we get only one room, the other 2 rooms in another building behind the museum with completly different level of furniture and we were alone there, for both buildings, no AC, a dirty fan that we get after request, no elevator, staff was helpless
Hot room No complete blind on windows
