This carefully restored villa blends elements of old Istanbul with charming atmosphere and luxury.
Score from 106 reviews Wonderful
The room was light and airy and was sufficiently large for 3 adults. The breakfast provided a very good choice of fresh cheese and fruit etc... The small "garden" with its cat population was pleasant although some small attention to it eg. watering and pruning would be good. The beds were very comfortable and the owners were lovely people.
The TV didn't work. The tap in the bathroom wobbled disconcertingly and the toilet cistern drained water into the toilet constantly. The staff were told about this but I don't think maintenance is their highest priority unfortunately. This is a pity as its a nice hotel and it would be a shame to let it run down.
I like hospitality of staff hotel ....specially for Melissa and Abdu ....they alway help me for everything .... When I had early check in, they suggest me for breakfast and when I said that my flight is midnight they give me late check out .... Really love this hotel
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice fresh orange juice for breakfast. Rooftop breakfast room. General: Quiet surrounding even during peak season. Comfortable mattress.
When showering one floods the bathroom. Nothing else to complain about.
The Staff were most helpful and friendly.
The shower flooded the floor when used. But there was also a shower over the bath. So no great loss.
It was great being just a 5 minute walk from the Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque. The staff are also so helpful and the breakfast that was included each day was amazing! I was also given a new bottle of water each day which was handy.
The only problems I had was that the kettle and tv didn't work in my room, but apart from that it was excellent.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice and everything was delicious!
Shower design. Difficult to keep shower spray from getting half of bathroom wet.
Front desk staff 10 mins walking to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Quiet area Nice room Good wifi signal
A little bit pricey Breakfast needs more variety
Breakfast Friendly owners who went out of their way to make sure we were happy Location
From day one everything was wonderful! The airport pickup was great, which Melissa arranged for us. My girlfriend and I were meeting in Instanbul and arriving at 2 different times and everything went smoothly! The breakfast was wonderful, room clean, air conditioning worked, etc. I could go on and on. Any questions we had were answered promptly and accurately. Would highly recommend this wonderful little gem.
Nothing was wrong with this hotel!
The location of this hotel was just excellent and it was close to major tourist attractions in Istanbul. There were many good restaurants nearby. The hotel even had a lift for all the floors including the terrace restaurant for breakfast. The beds were comfortable. Melissa, the co-owner, gave us valuable information about Istanbul and Turkey as a whole. Abdu, the owner, was kind enough to gave us free transfers to the Sultanahmet Tram Station when we left the hotel for the airport by public transportation.
Perfect location, less than 10 minutes walking distance from the Blue Mosque (albeit an uphill climb for part of the way) . Rooms are clean and modern, just as shown in the pictures. Cleaning was done every day. There is an elevator available. Melissa, Abdul, and their staff are very helpful and gave us some great tips for sightseeing! Breakfast is served on a nice airy terrace, a good spread (no food warmers available though so get there early if you want warm food). The rooftop area is great for smokers! We got a complimentary upgrade to a much bigger room which was great!
The shower stall doesnt have a glass wall on one side so the whole bathroom gets flooded. Our room AC was dripping water one night, but was promptly fixed the next day. The rooms facing the nearby school can get a bit noisy in the mornings - this didnt really bother us but might be an issue for light sleepers. Overall just some small maintenance fixes needed, other than that it's a great place to stay.
It was exactly what was promised and we were completely satisfied!
Love the owners as they are friendly, helpful and caring. The breakfast at the rooftop is amazing. The bed is very comfy and I love the modern feel of the place. The garden room on floor 1 is lovely and private, plus the bath tub is a real plus. Can't wait to return this autumn.
The owners Melissa and Abdul are sincere, warm, and lovely. The decor is chic from lobby to the rooftop and the rooftop breakfast is incredible. It is definitely a place worth staying as the beds are so comfortable.
No negative feedback - great hotel.
Wonderful staff that made us feel very welcome! An extra plus for the delicious breakfast!
The Breakfast especially the fresh orange juice Good advises in the reception
Difficult to take a shower without spreading water everywhere in the small bathroom
Excellent location Great, helpful, friendly staff Easy booking and best service pick up and droop off at airports We will come back for sure.
Location was great, staff were very nice and helpful, beds were clean and comfortable, wifi really good too.
Better if there was more hot dishes for breakfast and a toaster to warm the breads.
Queit place 10 minutes away from Sultanahmet. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was cosy.
It would be good to have a shower curtain (the floor in the bathroom was always a bit wet).
Fantastic place. It only has around 10 or so rooms but you wouldn't think that by the way the owners run the place; it's like a classy hotel.
The room was simple, but with new finishes. Breakfast room is nice. Location is convenient and central to the main sights.
Bathroom wasn't great. The shower occupies the corner of the bathroom without any walls so the entire room is effectively the shower. We also didn't have hot water the last day of our stay - not good. A general tip when reviewing ratings on Booking.com. If your destination is one of the top tourist spots in the world the rating is very much on a curve. This hotel has an 8.9 rating but compared to similarly ranked hotels outside of highly visited cities this is more like a 7.
Very nice staff, location is great (10 min from Sultanahmet tram station), quiet rooms. Breaksfast is good, a lot of food. Near the hotel you will find nice small private bakery (bread - 1 TL, bread with cheese - 9TL).
Standard room is not 25m2 as it specified, probably ~18m2.
The owner Melissa was very friendly & helpful Breakfast was excellent. Our room was very nnice cosy. I will give 9.5/10
Our stay at Kumru was delightful from start to end. Our airport pick up and drop off was very comfortable. Melissa upgraded us to a suite at no extra cost and advised us on places to visit, and things to do. They welcomed us warmly and made our stay exceptional by going out of their way to do things for us.....Abdul came to call us from a nearby restaurant when our guide arrived and didn't find us at the hotel; the next day he drove us to Galata bridge so we could catch the last boat for the cruise; Melissa advised on on the routes and shops and sightseeing; and upgraded us to a suite at no extra cost. The hotel is furnished stylishly and has a modern yet welcoming feel. After our our checkout, Melissa and Abdul gave us access to a room to freshen up after a full day of sightseeing, before heading off to the airport with fond memories of Kumru and Istanbul! We will definitely visit and stay there again.
A toaster to heat up the bread in the breakfast area would be a welcome addition. I would also recommend going early if you are looking for more substantial fare like eggs and sausages.
Nice hotel, great garden suite and very friendly staff!
