눉After taking a day trip, we changed buses at Sirec. We boarded a bus we were informed was bound for Lara. We noticed signs for Lara and a lot of (unfamiliar) Lara hotels. We asked the bus driver if we should get off and he said yes. Since we knew we were in Lara, although not exactly where, we decided to get a taxi the rest of the way to the Lara world hotel. We saw a taxi outside the Venetia Hotel and we asked the taxi driver to take us back to out hotel, we agreed a price of 5 Turkish Lira before we got in the taxi. We arrived at the destination after 10 minutes, it was further than we thought but still not too far. We gave the taxi driver the 5 lira, he said refused and said it was not enough, he wanted 50 Lira. He first claimed he had told us this before we got in taxi (he didn't) and later claimed, contrary to this, that he got that price from the taxi meter. However the taxi meter was displaying a nonsensical selection of numbers that had nothing to do with our taxi ride. He asked to speak with the management of the hotel, to which the full story was explained by both sides. He asked for our names and room numbers, a total invasion of our privacy, and also said he wanted to involve the police in the matter. It was clear that since he had picked us up outside an expensive hotel he saw us as an opportunity to make some extra cash.
