The location was excellent. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. View from our balcony was very nice. Breakfast was delicious, with a good option of eating outside with a great view.
Breakfast menu didn't change.
Our stay at Megara palace hotel was amazing. We had a two day stopover on our way to USA. Due to the amazing hotel location, we managed to see almost all the historical places, mosques and the bazars. The hotel staff was amazing, they booked taxi for us when needed and managed to convince the airport shuttle service ad we had tons of luggagen along. We also had a 4 month daughter with us yet the stay was literaly amazing. The breakfast by the terrace was amazing with a view of the Bosporus Highly recommended to anyone.
There are 2 things which I ddin't like, 1) There was no Muslim shower available in thebrest room. 2) with a price of $100 per night, certain things should be given as complimentary such as water bottle.
I liked the hotel location is very good, polite and welcoming staff. Elegant style of the hotel.
There are small claim to the size of the rooms, but generally tolerated.
the location is very good, convenient to everywhere. The staffs are really nice. The breakfast is very delicious even if not too much variety to choose but the taste is good, the place of breakfast is at the hotel roof, very nice view! We all love it.
The room get a little bit small, we have 3 persons with 3 luggage, booked one family room, we get a little bit of inconvenience to settle our luggage.
Close by main attractions of Istanbul, Topkapi, Blue Mosque, Hagha Sophia etc. And a street full of good restaurants and bars just around the corner. Nice roof terrace restaurant with view over the Bosphorus where a really excellent breakfast is served by smiling staff.
Bedrooms very small, no plugs in sinks and inadequate clothes hangers - All important if staying any length of time.
Great location and outlook from the roof terrace.
The decor/furnishings were dated and there was an unpleasant 'plumbing' odour in the room.
the kindness of the personal specially the ones in the lobby. They were always willing to help. Location of the place is excellent , wallkimg diatance from touristic attractions, restaurants. breakfast is good enough for the price. the restaurant is cozy and the view is really nice.
Airport shuttle to Sabiha is with 58€ far too expensive. I picked a shuttle service for 24€ at a local travel agency. The hotel made me a similar offer for 22€, but wanted in adittion a surcharge of 56€. They could not explain the reason for the surcharge. I assume they just give it a try... The hotel rooms are very small and it is not recommended to look under the bed...
The fact that I also made a booking for May,which I cancelled And they said I didn't and took one nights accommodation off my credit card although we stayed there in September. They also tried to get the full payment from my credit card about 2 months before our stay and had my card blocked.
Excellent staff. Very good breakfast Nice facilities
This hotel is right in the middle of everything required. Over the road from Topkapi Palace, 2 mins walk to the cafes and markets and another 1 minute walk to the mosques. Overlooks the Bospherous. The Staff are friendly and helpful to the point of assisting with language difficulties.
I made a reservation for accommodation in May which I cancelled and rebooked for September but they said I didn't cancel and charged me for one night accommodation which I was not happy about as they received full payment on our recent stay. I had confirmation of 1 double and one twin room and when we checked in they gave us 2 twins and then pushed the beds together. The rooms are very small and no tea & coffee making facilities and nowhere to sit and relax.
Extremely well located for must see sights, light night/early morning restaurants and cheap late night mini markets. Hagia Sofia is literally just up the road - approx. 2min walk away. The hotel has Friendly, helpful staff. Get the shuttle from the airport - call the hotel ahead of time to confirm shuttle times and prices. Cabs can be expensive - I found out the hard way. The hotel has great views across the water and decent breakfasts on the top floor.
The lack of an elevator might put some off and the need to carry your own luggage up four flights of semi spiral stairs if you happen to be on the top floor might be a little less than desirable. I also had mini bar items attached to my bill at the end of my stay even though I didn't touch the mini bar - the front desk didn't make me pay it though. My room's shower was a tad small - i could not bend down once the shower door was closed - the shower worked really well though. Having said all that There isn't much to not like about Megara Palace and I would still recommend it for anyone unsure about the quality of cheaper places in the neighbourhood and unwilling to fork out for a more luxurious stay in Istanbul - especially if your reason for choosing is to see the old town sights.
The Sultanahmet area of Istanbul is the safest area to live in. I really liked the hotel's location and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Wifi was great too on the second floor. My double room for 1 occupant was comfortable but i saw single rooms on the ground level that were very tight.
It didn't matter that the hotel didn't have a lift as the stairs were not too long and there were only 3 floors. The breakfast was extremely disappointing so don't get your hopes up in the morning.
Position is amazing (1 minute by walk from Hagya Sofia and Topkapi) Staff is absolutely friendly and helpful Terrace
Rooms are a bit small Breakfast can be improved
This hotel is in a great location 5 minute walk from the main mosques and churches and 2 minutes from lots of restaurants. We loved the roof terrace for breakfast overlooking the sea and watching the boats go past. Staff very friendly and beds comfortable. Would recommend a stay!
very helful nice staff perfect location , close to everything and walking distance of sultan ehamet metro station at the same time not in the middle of the crowd, very quite and calm and peaceful breakfast is great, homemade delicious food food, hallarious view at the roof while having your breakfast
The staff went out of their way to help me. The gentleman on duty at the reception even stopped at the otogar after I checked out to see that I was on the right bus on his way to work. And the location is perfect
I liked everything!
This small hotel is perfectly located in the close proximity of Hagia Sophia and other landmarks. The staff was very nice and helpful. The design of the whole building inside is very attractive making you feel that you are in an old palace or maybe a castle. They provide the breakfast on the roof terrace where you have a beautiful view of the nearby architectural landmarks, as well as the sea and the Asian coast. The breakfast was quite decent, to my opinion.
The room is very small for 3 (it would probably be OK for two). The extra bed that was provided for my visit was too small for an adult (perhaps, they expected a child would sleep there). Again, that won't be an issue with you if you don't have a third person. The shower does not have a door, and, surprisingly, that is by design. So, we used the shower in a very limited way to avoid flooding the floor.
Megara is right next to the ancient wall that runs around Topkapi palace; the views are wonderful. Its so close to most of the 'must see' sights - they become your neighborhood while you are there. The hotel is charming, with great attention to detail in the decor and good facilities. Best of all though, were the staff - such a warm and welcoming bunch of people. I would definitely recommend staying at Megara
Old fashioned style of hotel with excellent bar/restaurant/ breakfast area with a good view. Comfortable, basic bedroom, adequate bathroom. Good breakfast.
Room a bit dark, but not really a problem.
Very good location with a lot of restaurants, the blue mosque and the aya sophia nearby. The breakfast is very good with a stunning view.
Can be a little bit noisy at night because of the restaurtants but I did not find it very disturbing.
