I choose this hotel because of the price and the couryard garden to eat in in the middle of the city. It was close to everything I wanted to walk to see in Izmir. The staff were delightful, the food excellent and the old ambience of this hotel was refreshing after the high rise hotels that are so icy to one. I loved this hotel and eathing in the garden courtyard surounded by the walls of the holtel. It has been there for a long time and it has maintained its old elegance. I highly recommend it.

I loved: the location and the old Ottoman house's cachet; the courtyard is beautiful and having breakfast in it is great. Breakfast is very good and generous. The street (Anafartalar Cadessi) is very lively and authentic, the hotel is located close to Basmane train station (ideal for excursions to Selçuk & Efesus), and to the Bazar, not far from the waterfront. Transport from the airport is easy. Hotel staff are very friendly, service is excellent, the amenities in the room are very good. My few reservations are: the courtyard, which to me was one of the hotel's attractions, resonates a lot so any conversation in the courtyard will be heard in the rooms overlooking it. Some rooms look out onto the street though, and when I called the front desk about that issue at night, conversations stopped. Some guests might find the furniture not totally up to date but I didn't mind at all: I thought it was part of the hotel's vintage cachet, and the beds were very comfortable & the room super clean. Nb: if you book a "double" and want a large bed you might want to specify: I booked a double for more comfortable single occupancy and got twin beds.

They were really nice to let us in two hours before our check-in time. There were quite a few channels in English on the large tele. The hotel is an old one and does carry a shabby look. The breakfast is mostly bread, and cookies, and biscuits- some veggies would be nice. Thebed was a little creaky.

Good location and excellent staff. It is a restorated old building, it has a traditional inner garden in which you can sit, eat and drink. The bathroom needs refurbishing.

The location just nex to the Bazaar was excellent (if you are interested in such things). The distance to the seafront (Kordon) is also a short one. The surroundings of the hotel are really authentic, and if you are interested in buying a new or a bit older sewing machine, there is a lot of that kind of business around. The patio was nice, and to learn that this building was once owned by Gazi Mustafa Kemal's father in law was not bad either. The room was a bit worn out, but you cannot expect much for that price. For one night stay on the way back home it was good enough.

The location is very good ( near central market, the old bazaar, metro, Konac square). The staff is polite and helpful. There is a beautiful yard with a lemon tree where you can drink tea or take breakfast. The room is a bit small for a family.

Lovely old-style hotel with a peaceful inner courtyard for meals and drinks. Very helpful staff. Interesting two level room with the beds on a mezzanine level above the seating and bathroom level. Room decoration was a bit "tired" and some facilities need rennovating - eg room fridge didn't work, but we were told it was due to be replaced.

Very peaceful hotel courtyard where breakfast and evening barbeque is served. Quiet rooms with air conditioning even though the hotel is in a busy street. Excellent choice of breakfast buffet, free cups of tea and water at any time of day, evening bbq very good. Rooms clean and comfortable with linen changed daily. Some of the staff do not speak good English and we had one problem when we tried to book a tour to Ephasus and ended up with a taxi only. Manager was very apologetic and gave us some money back as we had to pay our own entrance fees etc. No other complaints.

Antikhan Hotel is an old and traditional house centrally located but nevertheless rather quiet. Our room was disributed over 2 floors and without any possibilities to open the windows over the night. For one night it's okay but basic.

The staff are what make this place - they are great - Sanam in particular was fantastic, she could not have been more helpful, position good just looks scary- breakfast was tasty and we were able to get tea during the day which was lovely. Handy to good local eating places. The bathrooms are not good and all appear to leak plus beware of the street facing rooms as they are very noisy at night- the bathrooms are going to be fixed I was told so this should make a difference
