I only stayed two nights and was working remotely, so didn't experience too much, but from the couple of walks I had into the town I got a sense that you wouldn't need more than 1-2 days for the town, but it could be a convenient place to stay as a base to see other places.
Bus station is about 15-20 minutes drive outside of the town - so you definitely need to get a taxi there!
I think as a place to stay if your arriving at Dalaman Aiport late or leaving early, then a nights accommodation in Dalaman is a good option.
Use Turkey Lira and have cash, found taxis and buses you needed cash. I didn't eat or drink out, so cannot comment on need for cash at cafes, restaurants, or bars. The small supermarkets and liquor outlets took cards.

Dalaman is in fact city for tourist because of the airport. My visit was out of main tourist season and the city was quiet and served me as base for my trips around. Ideal for short visit of Hellenic places like Patara, Xanthos and Lakoon and rock tombs in Dalyan or Fetyeh. And lots of nice beaches within a day car-trip.

The start of the holiday as always is long as you just want to get there, however Stansted Airport was brilliant both ways. Jet2 were fantastic and will be using them in the future.
We've been to dalaman 7 times and love it, people are friendly, beach's are lovely and clean, so much to do and see for all ages. We hired a car for 8 days and travelled to olu deniz for 2 nights, went to the blue lagoon and to the water park, we went rafting down the river at the Gorge which is a must, my 7 year old loved it, the 12 island boat trip from Gocek was great value for money £17 for adults kids half price up to the age of 12, the boat left at 10 returned at 7pm it included a bbq with fresh fish, chicken, salad and vegetarian option with a bar on the boat.
The local beach's are beautiful saragimie has 2 the old and the new one with large wooden swings spotted on the beach, clean with eating facilities, showers and toilets.
Perfect holiday 15 days of pure bliss

It is close to Sarigerme town which is small but good enough to buy some popular Turkish stuff.
Except the Holliday Village(the resort where we were located) you could book different extras on the beach , take a boot and go for diving, etc. British people stay mostly in the village around the pools and the beach itself is pretty empty for those who likes quite places.
It was interesting there was no mosquitos even there was a river and kind of swamp area around. The locals treated the area every day.

DALAMAN DO NOT HAVE TOO MUCH TO OFFER, SMALL TOWN BUT GOOD...
DALAMAN DO NOT HAVE TOO MUCH TO OFFER, SMALL TOWN BUT GOOD FOR SHOPPING, PRICES ARE GOOD, THERE ARE FEW RESORTS WHICH I NEVER HAVE BEEN TO, FOOD WAS VERY CHEAP GOOD SIZE PORTION AND AMAZING HOSPITALITY AND VERY TASTY. ITS AN IDEAL LOCATION DUE TO AIRPORT WHICH CAN BE A STATION TO TRAVEL TO BODRUM OR MARMARIS ETC. THERE ARE FEW LOCATIONS IN DALAMAN WHICH ARE JUST MIND BLOWING.
lovely little hotel very close to Dalaman Airport. The lady who serves breakfast is very welcoming and always has a lovely smile. You made us feel very welcome.
nothing was too much trouble. swimming pool clean and nice traditional Turkish breakfast. we had a family room right next to the pool which was lovely and spacious
This was a great stop off on our first night in Turkey after arriving late at night only 10 minutes from Dalaman airport.
Rustic, a little quirky but clean, friendly and excellent value with lovely food.
If you have young kids they will love the animals on land and in the water.
We would definitely stay again
The hosts are a young couple. They’re very hospitable and friendly.
Before arrival communication was very good. They offered transfer from the airport.
I stayed there only one night after my evening flight and I felt like home. in the morning was an amazing delicious breakfast.
Wish you good luck guys!
It is easily the most stylish and beautiful apartment we've stayed in Turkey. Large windows with great views, the rooms are spacious and everything is provided. The hosts are the nicest people. Close to the airport, and a short drive to Sarsala Beach. I would definitely recommend everyone.
Just what we needed. We had a late flight in, we’re collected by the host from the airport and within ten minutes we were checked in and having a drink on the terrace. Such a lovely host and family, a great welcome to Turkey. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.
I took the suit, all was perfect - I loved it! Best stay ever, will do it more often!
I have 2 notes only, mosquitoes are all around, so ask for a sprat from hotel and if you are used to cleaning yourself after using the restroom, get yourself a portable shower.
Nice accommodation with lovely view to the sea. Close to a Dalaman airport. Friendly owner, ready to help with anything. We tasted "real Turkey" around and enjoyed the stay a lot. Despite we went there in late October, we still enjoyed warm and sunny weather.
To be fair we booked this hotel as it was close to the airport as we were just transiting through Dalaman. The hotel was perfect for our requirements, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was very spacious and breakfast was good on the terrace.
It’s a family run small hotel. The owner & his family were so accommodating and kind. My flight got in after midnight, instead of 8 pm and the owner graciously picked me up. It’s no simple, but I’ll take family run, small business over big hotels any day.
Everything was perfect and the hospitality and the staff went above and beyond what they needed to to make sure our stay went well and we had everything that we needed- do not hesitate to stay here if you are in Dalaman and very close to airport
The hotel is close to the Dalaman airport, and had everything we needed for a short stay. There is a Turkish restaurant within a 2 minute walk. The room was clean and spacious. Hotel staff is very friendly and polite.
The place was exactly as described. I really enjoyed the location—it was calm and surrounded by nature. I'd recommend this host to anyone looking for a wonderful stay around Dalaman-Göcek area.
Gem in the country side of Dalaman. 700 meters away of a Sulfur hot spring: Kapıkargın Kükürt Kaplıcası
Brand new building and furniture. Great pool -and very helpful hosts.
this place is good for one night stay it's close to dalaman airport. night was good morning was bit noisy because it's on mainroad apartment was clean and beds were comfy .
