The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendor and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.
Take a stroll through the historic center or the busy Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.
If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.
Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for a vacation in Istanbul.
So much happening. Amazing history of civilisations, religions and cultures. Great shopping but be prepared to be constantly invited to come into the shops by vendors who then will try very hard to make you purchase. Have to bargain unless prices are displayed - even then you can get small discounts for multi buys. Just need to be wary with most local shops who don't show prices. Prices automatically doubled and more but you just have to go with it and not let it spoil the rest of the good things. Lots of places to eat but not always easy to find good vegetarian options. Transport system is brilliant.

A city full of historic buildings and gorgeous architecture.
A city full of historic buildings and gorgeous architecture. It can never get enough as there is always something new to see! Local markets with all the Turkish delights and spices are unique. Fish and seafood are very good yet cheap. Surprisingly, local wine is also good, though I’ve never thought Turkey actually has wineries. Looking forward to visiting lovely Istanbul again!

Amazing, vibrant city, with plenty to see and do, ranging from amazing mosques and historic sites, to the somewhat overwhelming bazaar. If there was one piece of advice I'd give, it would be to avoid all of the the restaurants under the Galata bridge - the food is horrendously over-priced, and you're very much encouraged to order 'off-menu' which is great, until you receive the eye-watering bill at the end of the, quite frankly, average meal.
The bazaar was a bit 'samey' after a while - lots of souvenir shops, jewellers and fake goods stalls, and the spice bazaar was similar
Had a fantastic meal at the Olive Restaurant (behind Romance Hotel, near Gulhane Park entrance)
Make sure your mobile is sorted before you go, as Google Maps is essential, and Wi-fi seemed a bit hit and miss

Istanbul is a remarkably beautiful city.
Istanbul is a remarkably beautiful city. It is also functional, in a way many larger global cities are not. The public transportation goes everywhere, is cheap, clean, and easy to use.
I didn't like that there were men in front of the restaurants forcing you to enter. They also tried to cheat on prices.

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Taksim. The staff is just amazing..all the different receptionist who attended to me were soo warm and willing to assist at a times. They also recommended the best kebab local spot to me which was amazing..just next door. I also booked a day tour of Istanbul through them and the tour guide was amazing as well. Highly recommend The Prelude Hotel to anyone..bustling location just meters from Taksim Square with all the restaurants and shops. I'll definitely be coming back
I strongly recommend Weingart Hotel, first of all, because of the staff behavior - Mr. Dovlet was wonderful and very helpful, he answered our requests and tried his best to make our stay a memorable one. Many thanks also to Mr. Tayfun! The location is a very good one - next to Galata Tower, to tram station (between Karakoy and Tophane), short distance to Taksim Square and easily to reach Sultanahmet area. The breakfast was diversified and tasty. It is not luxury accommodation, but comfortable and pleasant.
First of all, let me say that the hotel is in the very heart of Istanbul. From here, it is possible to walk to Taksim Square in just 10 minutes. If you come to Taksim, it can be said that Istanbul is yours. The hotel is in a perfect location. Breakfast is quite good. The employees are very good, especially ALI - we thank you very much, as Azerbaijanis. Thank you very much for your support. In short, anyone who wants to spend the night in an ideal place and walk around Istanbul can choose this place.
I have been several times to Istanbul and this is the best so far. First location easy to find, 5 mins walk to Taksim Square, food, supermarket everthing just next to the hotel.

Plus, the hospitality of Murat, Bora and Karem is amazing, and it feels like a home away from home. I highly recommend this cozy hotel. 10/10
The hotel is barely a 5mins walk to Taksim Square. The overall look and feel of the hotel was very good. The lobby was very clean and had a a very luxury vibe to it. Would like to make a special mention about Mr. Turgut who went out of the way to resolve some issues with our booking. He was extremely helpful and courteous. We need more people like him in the hospitality industry.
This is one of the best locations, hotels in Istanbul for a tourist. Equipped with a kitchen, laundry and living area in the heart of Taksim. It allows to decompress after a busy day. The staff is excellent and go above and beyond. They were able to get me an airport pickup and dropoff at a very reasonable price as well. The rooms are remarkably soundproof given the location.
