The staff of the hotel was so unfriendly
Hotel staff were friendly and helpfull. Wi Fi connection was excellent. Room is spacious and clean.
Location is too far.
Room size. Some of the staff were helpful and accommodating. Reservations manager was particularly helpful and she ensured a better stay. Very understaffed but the staff that were present tried hard to make it a better stay.
Very poor hygiene. Not 5 star at all. Extremely poor Wi-Fi connection in hotel. Website portrays a very different picture to actual reality and service at the Retaj Royale. False impressions built via online booking. Extremely understaffed. It is purpose built for Arab business guests from Qatar. Not a holiday hotel for anyone else.
Friendly staff, nice location comfy room with city view.
Dine-in menu was over priced and food was average.
Close to the airport and free transportation to airport.
Far from center, public transport and visit places. Noise of airplanes landing or departing every minutes. not very clean, very long response from staff, no bath towels without ordering.
Nice facilities and comfortable. Reception speak good arabic and English. Close (10 minutes walk) to a corner with a nice shopping center and some restaurants where the prices are much cheaper than downtown. Very quite and clean area.
Far from public transportation, so you have to use Taxies whitch is expencive. They told me that there is a free transportation at 7 pm from the airport but I didnt find any. I Rrived tired wanted to have a bath, but no bath towels. I had to call 3 times till they sent me towels. I asked for blug adaptor but they sayed they dont have. The swiming pool was under maintenance so we couldnt use. Water pressure is not very good and the water was just warm at night. Air conditioning is a bit weak it took quite long time to cool the room and not even cold. No body helped in getting my big bag to my room, so I had to pull it myself. Very slow and week net.
staff not professional, rooms not clean, asked for non smoking room and it was a smoking room
all is good
no tall tell you ask

The Retaj Royale is close enough to the airport to be reached quickly, so it is perfect for an overnight stay if you have early or late flights. Our twin bedded room, on the 7th floor, was spacious, clean and comfortable. Despite being very close to the flight path and seeing plenty of aircraft from the tall window, the noise was minimal and did not disturb a good nights sleep. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use the hotel's spa facilities during our stay but we did use Room Service to order food when we first arrived at around 9 p.m. The service was quick, the food was good and the price at TL64 (approx £19) was reasonable for 2 chicken wraps with salad and fries. The Room Service menu offered a variety of familiar European fast foods alongside some traditional Turkish dishes. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Retaj Royale to anyone who wants a touch of 5 star relaxation within arms length of the airport.
The hotel offer a free airport shuttle and were helpful in emailing a timetable to us prior to our visit. The timetable confirmed, we thought, that the shuttle would run approx every 2 hours up until 19:00 hrs but upon checking this again later, it was perhaps only until 18:00 hrs (it's a little confusing and we should have double-checked with the hotel) However, upon arrival at Ataturk airport the pick-up point was vague, there were no signs showing the hotel name anywhere and the shuttle did not turn up any time between 17:50 and 19:30! At least, we were unaware that it did but it could have been any one of hundreds of unmarked minibuses that roar through the pick-up area. We had waited over an hour for the non-arrival of the shuttle, gave it an extra half hour "just in case it's stuck in traffic" and finally took a taxi. It cost TL20 (approx. £6) and with the benefit of hindsight, we should have just gone for the taxi in the first place. It was almost the same on the return journey: Several guests were waiting outside the hotel entrance for the 11 a.m. shuttle but there was no sign of it at 11:15. The doorman went to investigate and found the minibus parked on the road just out of sight of the hotel entrance! The hotel itself is situated in the business district, so it's not the ideal place to stay if you are planning to use it as a base to visit the old town and sites. We visited Istanbul specifically to visit the Ataturk Olympic Stadium but the hotel staff did not understand where we were trying to get to (it translates to Ataturk Olimpiyat Stadi but this was also unrecognisable!) Thankfully the taxi driver recognised our destination from our football match tickets and took us straight to the exact entrance at the stadium. The taxi fare was again extremely reasonable at TL26 (approx £8) for a 5 mile journey in heavy traffic.
Every think booking .com must ckear this hotel from there list I
Shower and bed
Awful hotel on so many levels. Incompetent staff who couldn't understand a word of English pretty much. The hotel was predominantly filled with people from the Arab would (which I have no problem with as I am a traveled individual). However what made me mad was that I heard one girl working for receiption moking the English. The cleaning staff were worse at cleaning rooms then a 2 year old child. Once day I returned to my room to find what was in the rubbish bin was thrown down the toilet. The flush did not work on the toilet which I reported to staff and they did nothing about it. In a 5 star hotel it would go without saying that the fresh towels would be provided everyday! Think again they never gave fresh towels for a 4 nights stay. The pool was freezing cold which was not good as this was one of the main reaosns picked this hotel due to the swimming pool. There is a jacuzzi but there is no water in it, it's not working. The hotel is adveristed to have a shuttle from the hotel to Taksim square which does not exist.
Excellent for Arabs. No Alcohol in the hotel. Praying room in 1st floor. Near airport.
spacious comfortable rooms, good breakfast, qibla direction in rooms and provision of Qaran and pray mats in the rooms
temp control in rooms, quiet far from the city centre
The one and only employee who work as Valet Parking, Concierge, and sometimes receptionist.
1:staff are very few and not professional at all 2:Cleanliness is very bad i stayed 14 nights in this hotel 2 nights they forgot to clean my room even with door hanged badge and on other night's the cleanliness is bad 3: Wi-Fi is too boor like the connections in the 80s 4: location and view is terrible
Hotel was booked solid, but I got my reservation just in time. The room is not ready. But thankfully Mr Ali Makansi were able to provide me the new room as guests checked out. The breakfast is good with varieties of fresh olives. I want to give a good credit to Mr Makansi for helping me throughout my stay. Thank you!
Retaj is a well run hotel with all services. If someone is looking for something outside the city for a relaxing visit and depending on tours to take you around or a conference this is the place for you. The staff is extremely helpful especially the front desk where Mr.Serkan Akis was so helpful it was embarrassing. He made our stay and coordination for whatever we wanted to do so much easier. It was indeed a great stay.
It's far from the city center and takes about 30-45 mins to drive in and back and costs about US$ 60 - 90 round trip. The TV is not great carrying only Turkish language channels.
This is a real value for your money and a real comfy inn
Inconsistancy with house keeping and providing some basic supplies continously such as: soap, shampoo, towels, etc. and had to call for them to be redeliverd with also not providing everything as they claim they have a shortage in them.
-Staff -They have a free shuttle to mall of istanbul -complemantry water, coffee, tee and in my case sparkling water -location is fair when it comes to mall of istanbul
A/C was hot in a strange way, they said that because of the water cooling!!! I still didn't get it
Staff was low qualified
Great rooms with high quality interior. Everything was very clean and top notch condition. The hotel was quite and peaceful. There was free underground parking.
It took me 15 mins to complete checkout due to being understaffed.
excellent hotel staff, especially Arz very professional, and helfull all the time
away from attractions in sultanahmet
Smiling, polite, helpfull staff New constructed high quality furnitures
Staff need some education, they are heplfull but not effective. i believe hotel needs a more effective management, it seems there is a coordination problem. it is not professional enough for 5 star hotel.
