Richmond Istanbul Hotel  

Great location. Well furnished rooms. Absolutely fantastic top floor bar and restaurant with amazing view over Istanbul (drinks particularly pricey though).

We asked for a quiet room but all the rooms across the corridor had young children who were allowed to play all day in the corridor - the hotel did intervene but it would have been better not to have had to deal with the issue.

The staff is very cooperative. Over all cleaniness is impressive.

Due to technical fault as hotel management pointed out 2 times electricity triped off on complaing it was restored at once during six nights stay

I was on a supposed non-smoking floor, yet my room had an ash tray, and several evenings the entire floor smelled of cigarettes. The smoke came under the door and stunk up the entire room. Also, the wifi was horrible. Half the time it didn't work.

Location in New City. Easy access on foot to shopping areas and to trams for access to SultanAhmet. Friendly and helpful staff. Prompt & efficient cleaning of rooms Quality of room service food. Free wi-fi (but see below). Most rooms on executive level (5th & 6th floors) have excellent views, both of Bosphorus on rear and Istiklal Caddesi on front. Front rooms can be noisy, but not a problem. Windows provide adequate sound proofing when closed, but some would prefer to keep them open and enjoy the passing parade. Similar to a Spanish Paseo.

Limited space for storing clothes for a leisure traveller staying for a week or more. Executive level designed more for an efficient, short-term business traveller. Wi-fi service erratic: have to reset wireless adapter and restart frequently. Almost would prefer to pay for more reliable access. A little difficult for older or handicapped customers to get to hotel and up steps to lobby level: no elevator and need to walk to and from nearby street for taxis, though hotel staff helps get taxis and carry luggage.

The location of the hotel is on a pedestrian walking street which I found convenient and interesting.. The hotel itself is attractive, my room was clean and well tended to, the breakfast was good. My room was also at the rear of the hotel and therefore, very quiet. Overall, I liked the hotel and might well return there on another visit to Istanbul.

I thought the hotel personnel at the front desk were not especially helpful. I didn't seek help very often but when I did, I came away dissatisfied.The hotel management should try to remedy this situation.

I enjoyed the magnificent view from my room on the Bosphorus.

The sound of some kind of ventilation or exhaust system outside.

I am visiting the specific hotel since 2006. Since that time until now all the staff is the same. This is important as I feel that I am going in a very friendly environment.

The location is fantastic breakfast is good

The internet is extremely bad

Richmond is ideally placed for all tourist activities & is in the centre of the main shopping & restaurant area. Taksim square is a 5 min walk at the opposite end of istikal street. The view of the Bosphorus from the breakfast area is lovely. I think its a little pricey for the facilities on offer however I guess its the location you pay for. By turkish standards this hotel is a very luxurious hotel. I would consider staying again but perhaps if I could obtain a cheaper deal.

Wifi is supposedly available in the hotel but I was unable to establish a continuous connection & the wifi kept coming & going.
