The location is excellent. The hotel is in walking distance to a few of the interesting sites. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to the guests. Excellent breakfast was served on a sunny terrace with a view over the city. Staff at the front desk would call a taxi right away when requested, and the taxi would pull up within minutes. I highly recommend Sahinbey Hotel.
The location of the hotel is very good;close to the Museum of Antolian Civilizations. It was easy to find, and having off street parking was a bonus. The staff, tho' having limited English, were very helpful. The rooms were well appointed and quiet, with a comfortable bed and lots of hot water for showers. Lovely breakfast on the 6th floor, with a view over the city. WiFi was good.
Try to avoid driving in Ankara, especially on a Saturday. We drove to Ankara from Cappadocia, and our GPS was quite confusing as the Sahinbey Hotel address it had didn’t match with the address that the hotel listed on my reservation. It was Saturday, and traffic was a nightmare. We didn’t know where to go & couldn’t ask for direction as nobody in Ankara seemed to know very much English, so we decided to trust the address on the GPS, and thank goodness, we made it to the hotel. The smiley, friendly Erzan at the front desk helped park our car in the basement parking garage of the hotel. We had a little trouble communicating with each other at first, but as soon as we got a pen and a paper & started writing down numbers among other things, we were able to understand each other. Our room was pretty basic, but clean, nice and comfortable. We had everything we needed. We loved the location that was near the Ankara Castle, but it was raining the day we were there, so we didn’t get to go there. Our only complaint was the day we were there, we smelled smoke coming into our room. Perhaps we were smelling the cigarette smoke from street-level area. We had a room on the second floor, so maybe we wouldn’t have smelled it had our room been on a higher level floor. Breakfast on the sixth floor in the morning was lovely as we had a nice view of the area. We had a nice short stay overall & would stay here again, mainly because of the location & the helpful staff. Whatever language barrier we had was easily fixable with google translate (Erzan actually pulled google translate up on his computer screen & asked me to type my question when we asked for his help to find the nearest souvenir shop).
Walking distance to historical sights and museums. Great view with lovely breakfast. Staff excellent and helpful.
Shower cabin could be cleaner.
Stunning view from breakfast salon. Excellent facilities in room and very comfortable. Helpful staff. Well located for Anatolian Civilisations Museum and Kale.
Carpet in our room dirty on arrival but receptionist cleaned it immediately in spite of late hour. We were impressed. The area is quite run down and dirty.
Staff was friendly and made their best effort to make you feel at home
It would be nice if they could provide a mini soap bar.
The wifi is really high speed at this hotel and staff behave very well
Location near the great museum.
Even for a value hotel , a bar of soap could have provided. No coffee at breakfast other than a jar of instant. Staff friendly and wanted to be helpful, but spoke no English, though that shouldn't be expected. Mattresses were uncomfortable , with no top sheet and holes in the bottom one.
It is very close to the museum and the castle of Ankara. The view of the old city while you are having breakfast is wonderful.
It is not so easy to find parking in the area around
Very clean, good wireless connection, extremely friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms, central position on the slope of the Kale (10 min from the Anadolu Medeniyetleri Müzesi), wonderful breakfast room with phantastic view on the city (and very tasteful food!)
Value, Staff really nice - owner went out of his way to point us to a good Turkish restaurant and give instructions,
We were caught in the middle of construction next door and the noise was very bad.
Even though the Front Desk Staff knows hardly english words but co-operative enough, polite, nice and helpful. Top floor restaurant is a nice & cozy place to sit, we just had a look in the morning and liked much. Location is very much central, everything around. Meuseum is just 500 meter, can walk upto but it upward on the hill therefore some difficult to climb. Bazar is just across, lot of food outlets on walking distance. I liked and enjoyed the stay.
The breakfast is very poor, just cereals, some raw salad and couple of fruits. Elevator is tiny hardly 3 people can ride. No one in the Hotel can speak English.
Staff was very helpful and very friendly. Even though there was some language barrier, you can still easily manage with basic English and a bit of good will. Very clean, spacious and comfortable room, with good WiFi connection. Nice view from the breakfast room on the top floor which made it even more pleasant experience.
Staff is friendly and very very helpful, speaks a little bit of english. Breakfast on roof top with a view on Ankara's roofs. Close to Ankara's citadel and museum
The staff were very professional always keen to help and assist. I stayed for 2 nights and would recommend to all. It is central and close to all major attractions like Anitkabir, Ankara kale, kizilay and major shopping centre Ankamall. Couldnt be happier.
This is not a five-star hotel, but for the price I paid, it was good. The staff were cooperative and helpful.
I liked the location, just 5 minutes from the Anatolian Museum and the Citadel. 20 minutes walk from the Havas airport bus terminal. Breakfast is served on the rooftop lounge, where there's a great view of the city. The staff was friendly and helpful. Their limited English wasn't a problem.
The wifi didn't work one night from midnight to 8am. Not a big problem. The A/C in room 505 only blows air around. It doesn't actually do any cooling.
Very well appointed hotel at a location that was superb for the museum of Anatolian Civilization and the citadel. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Secure parking a great asset.
Great location. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Good wifi signal. Helpful staff (although limited English). Delicious breakfast with a great view!
Triple room consists of 2 twin beds and sofa. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke. Room was facing the street thus the cigarette smell. Also, people were smoking in some of the rooms. Staff do not speak English. Very hard to communicate with them.
All of the staff were helpful and professional. The room was large and comfortable with high quality mattress and pillows. The WiFi worked perfectly. My windows opened to a tree-lined neighborhood. The breakfast was ample with a great view of the city from the top floor.
The staff speaks only a few words of English, but we were able to communicate well with sign language and smiles.
An excellent location and the staff were very willing to help, for example, with getting me taxis. Great breakfast. Amazing value for money if you want to be in the Old Town and be close to the Citadel.
good breakfast room, with views. Very close to citadel, and archeo. muze.quiet street, good restaurants nearby.
Staff were very friendly and very helpful though they had only limited English. Our room was large and comfortable, and it was good to have off street parking. Location is very handy for the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and the citadel. There are also lots of fascinating market streets in the area.
The hotel is a bit hard to find and many of the streets are one way only. If driving be warned that the traffic around Ulus can be manic after mid morning. It was quiet when we left at 8.30am though (on a Sunday).
