Good location: close to Efes. Friendly and helpfull staff, nice clean hotel
Roomsize rather small en very hot on the upper floors. Bathroom small. Beds are too small when you are taller than 1.80 mtrs.
We had a very nice experience at St. John Hotel. It's small, but very nice. The service is very good. Rooms are elegant and clean. A real surprise.
Nice staff, beautifully decorated room, nice breakfast. It was very convenient for us to visit Effes.
The room is relatively small.
Beautiful and relaxing hotel. Lovely pool, friendly and helpful staff. Great quality for a good price.
Very nice and clean boutique hotel. The stuff very helpfully. The breakfast one of the best we ever had. Also the food in his restaurant was very very delicious. Everything home made.
Very friendly personnel
The rooms and the swimming pool were very small.
Everything about this hotel is well ballanced. The friendly atmosphere and the polite staff immediately makes you feel welcome. The breakfast is complete and tasty. The small pool area is great to relax and have a talk. The rooms are brand new and superclean. Some people made comments about the neighbourhood not being the best but this didn't feel like a problem. It was kind of funny actually. Would gladly stay there again.
The room was beautifully furnished and the staff were very friendly. The meals were also quite good. A very lovely small hotel
Very friendly and beautiful family-run hotel down a funny little back street. They cooked us dinner when we arrived late at night despite restaurant having closed. The pool in the internal courtyard was small but perfectly formed, great after a hot day sightseeing. Selçuk is a great town, good location for sightseeing but not touristy. Very friendly place generally.
A delightful hotel that is very close to all attractions and easy to find.
The staff could be a little more welcoming
good breakfast, clean room
the street where it is located
the pool. very refreshing after hot day at Ephesus great cook...dine in
room was cramped when they add toilets in all these old hotels where the toilet used to be shared and down the hall, both the bathroom and the bedroom get sqeezed. But the charm makes up for it. We like old hotels and this one is nicely updated. However. this hotel is in a poor and ragged neighborhood. your car is safe parked out front but we didn't walk to restaurants ( 6 to 8 blooks away.)
The hotel is in a rather poor but safe surrounding. It fits with the appearance rather in a luxurious environment. The building is stylishly designed to the last detail. In the courtyard there is even a pool. The decor of the hotel is very tastefully. Everything is very clean. The staff is very nice and fulfills every wish. They all speak good English. The breakfast is very rich. Surely the best hotel in Selcuk to visit the ancient sites (Ephesus etc.).
Very nice hotel located in a neigborhood where people live, not in the tourist zone of the town. Large breakfast buffet (turkish & continental). Local pasteries served. The staff excellent (english spoken well), offered us tea on arrival and gave us a map and run down of the area. Location : about 400m to train station, 800m bus station, walking distance to St. John Basilica, Isa Bey Mosque, as well as a nice restaurant/shopping district. Rooms beautifully presented & clean. Comfortable beds with a small balcony looking over the pool. Nice pool to cool down in summer !
Due to small room size, you need to have some creativity to store your luggage.
The check in was smooth. Helpful people, they helped to arrange a trip to near by sites. Very cute courtyard with pool. Breakfast was good.
They would give half used toiletries and won't remove empty ones. bathrooms and corridors would smell. No emergency medicine even an aspirin and pharmacies close early. Night menu only a meat loaf sandwich.
excellent interior, very good breakfast, small and cozy
the room was too samll
Good location with a nice view of castle.
Rooms are quite small
Great cosy hotel in a colonial historic building which previously served as a jail :). Great staff, nice location and good turkish coffee.
Pool was just OK.
An excellent hotel. Well presented, good attention to detail. The friendly staff offered us tea on a arrival and gave us a map and run down of the area. The buffet breakfast was the best I had in Turkey and the location was only a 5 minute walk to the main town center.
Very nice hotel in a poor neighborhood. The staff excellent, the food really good. Keep up the good job!
Very nice hotel in the middle of a poor street. The staff was excellent, so was the food! Keep up the good job!
Very nice breakfast and staff helpful with luggage. Nice design. Castle view.
The hotel is in a rough neighborhood which isn't all that discomforting during the day, but did deter us from returning late at night & going out for a dinner in town. The rooms are lovely but don't expect space. Our first night didn't have hot water, but we informed the staff and had it the second day so that was appreciated. Another glitch was that we reserved a twin room, but when we came back from sight-seeing; the cleaner had turned it into a full when changing the sheets. Thankfully, I was traveling with my mom and not an acquaintance. When we told the staff we were told "no problem," so English isn't very well understood here.
The hotel was very clean and beautiful. The staff was polite and helpful. There was a nice pool area (the pool had even depth of 1,5 meters).Buffet breakfast was good and plenty. We also appreciated the possibility to check-out late. Even though I have many small complaints, in general I found Saint John a good and well-maintenanced hotel and I’m sure most people will enjoy staying there.
The hotel is located about ten minutes walk from the centre and the surrounding area is a bit dodgy: first time we went out we saw a fight, where a man threatened to hit his wife in the head with a big rock! There’s no trash bin except one miniscule in the bathroom. The wi-fi in my room worked the first day but not the second. The staff helped to connect my computer to the wi-fi in the lobby, which helped some but I also needed to use it from my room. I found the request not to bring any food or drink from outside in to the hotel petty: we travel with kids and always, always have to have snacks for them in the room. There was no furniture on balcony. I asked the staff what the price of taxi to Efesos would be, and they said 25-30 lira. However the taxi drivers both way asked for 20 lira. I was a bit surprised since I’m used to taxi drivers asking overprice and a good hotel staff telling you the “real” price.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is very ample and has a good selection of fresh food. The hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel with a nice albeit smallish pool.
