Clean and tidy, great hotel management who also picked us up free of charge from the local Info Centre. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and also in a quiet area. The breakfast is also very generous and great variation of cereal's fruit, cooked eggs etc. We would stay again if back in Selcuk
upon my experience of stay, probably the best in Goreme
This little hotel was decorated well inside and was a sharp contrast to the neighborhood in which it is....very undesirable. They dont show you that in their website.
The location was horrible. On a small lane with part residential and poor section of town. There were stray animals all around. The back view from my room was pitiable with broken homes in dilapidated condition. It was not nice. Also they billed me extra for tea that I didnt take. Had to tell them. I dont think that they are very ethical.
The hotel is really nice considering its price. It's very well located for exploring the city and close to the train station. Breakfast is abundant. Staff is very kind and willing to assist.
The room was really cold. The hotel does not have a proper heater, but an air condition machine that does not heat up the room efficiently. Water was also cold at night. We left the hotel very early in the morning and had to take a cold shower. Internet did not work well in the room.
We chose this hotel because the good rating on booking.com but we were deeply disappointed with the location of the hotel. It is situated deep into what looks to me like a ghetto of Selcuk. The walk from the main road (Ataturk Avenue) to the hotel is horrific. If you decide to go on the ally leading directly to the hotel, you'll find groups of young men standing on the street hanging out. They would stare at you and some would yell something to try to make fun of you. During night time, it's dark and the atmosphere just gave me the creeps and is quite scary. If you choose to walk on the main road, and cuts left into that same ally, you'll have to pass so many tea shops with scary looking middle-age men who will stare at you. Definitely, not recommended for a lone traveller. The hotel is family run, though the owner who's the father is very friendly, but it's very unorganized. Maybe those who like a home-stay feel would enjoy it, but not for us.
1.Every staff were very freindly. 2.The room was nice designed and very clean. 3.There were some supermarkets close to the hotel.
1.There wasn't enough light in the bathroom. 2.There wasn't electric hot-water pot. 3.The atmosphere around the hotel was not good. I don't really think this hotel is a reasonable price.
Turkey bath charge 50€, which is charged 50TL outside.
Very helpful staff and would accommodate for vegetarian requests.
The fact that the hotel used to be a prison spooked us a little bit when we found out after checking in.
breakfast is ok
it's just a room with bed, nothing else
Breakfast was good, the staff is very nice, the hotel is very simple but enough. I would not recommend staying more than one night, it is just to pass by to be able to go to Ephesus.
I did not like the location and the smell of the sheets and bed, it could be a little cleaner, many things are rusty. Dinner was bad.
Small, friendly, comfortable & good value for money
Located in a somewhat impoverished area with on street parking
the ambience was amazing and the staff couldn't do enough for us
coffee - the American style drip coffee needs to be banished from the earth
Family owned hotel managed well by the owner. Pick up from Izmir airport was excellent. Excellent location, very close to St. Johns church and castle.
Extremely helpful staff, great food, beautiful hotel. Will be back next year!
Very friendly staff, comfortable bed. We had an early start when we left but breakfast was opened early so that we could have the option of a full breakfast. Much appreciated - thanks. Transfer to and from the hotel couldn't be better. Wonderful apple tea given on arrival.
Poor heating - hot air blower only, which failed to warm the bathroom and kept loosing heat so blew cool air. No problem if you're there in the summer but we arrived just as the weather cooled for the winter. When we mentioned it to the staff they simply shrugged shoulder and said there wasn't anything else - though someone else did come to see if we were ok about 45mins later. Rooms look lovely but are impractical, with very little space for clothes. No tea/coffee making facilities and guests are requested not to take food or drink into the rooms. No instructions on how to use the heater. Having said all this, for a short stay it's fine.
We wanted to watch an American football game and the manager helped us connect a laptop to the restaurant TV and we ate dinner in Turkey while watching our hometown team!
Everything was great... Clean, new, good breakfast. I will came back again
The hotel is located in a very quiet and centerd location. The staff is very friendly and always ready to assist customers. The rooms are very nicely decorated and clean. Very good breakfast. We spent a wonderful time and wish to recommend this hotel: you will feel at home while being abroad
Nothing, all was great.
We liked everything. From the sumptious breakfasts to the beautifully decorated rooms, courtyard and entrance to the friendly staff and owner, every aspect of this hotel was a pleasure. We were within walking distance to all the sights in the town, and about a ten minute drive to Ephesus. All other sights were within walking distance of the hotel.Do not be deterred by the surrounding area. This is a typical Turkish town. We will definitely return to St John Hotel.
Nothing to dislike here.
Convenient to the castle and other sights.
Cold "hot" food for dinner. Overpriced for food and accom considering the location of the place in a scruffy quarter of town.
Excellent location - easy walk to town, train station and bus depot. Lovely, always ready to help staff. Cleaners must be perfectionists because they spent so much time cleaning and the results were faultless. Food was amazing, especially the breakfast. Didn't get to try the pool as it was too cold but it looked lovely. This place was amazing value for money and if we didn't have a flight out already booked, we would have extended our holiday to stay at this hotel for longer! The best part was the staff - it felt like we were being taken in my a family!
Cleanliness and service
Disappoint with the juice for breakfast, it's not sqeeze fresh as selcuk in the orange growing area.
Comfortable bed, quiet, clean, nice staff, nice breakfast
They tried to show as the possible paid journeys as soon as we arrived. Small swimming pool...
nice place. nice breakfast. good staff when they were trying very hard for the hot water issue on the 1st night. we met a very nice taxi driver there who took us to Kusadasi.
almost no hot water for shower at 1st night. dunno what's the prob. and seems they couldn't fix it at that time. but anyway, it was ok for the 2nd night.
