Golden Rain Hotel Old City is located on a historic peninsula in Istanbul.
Score from 207 reviews Very good
Tiny rooms with barely enough space to move around the room. Taps hanging off the walls. Exposed wires throughout the hotel. Terrible breakfast consisting of olives, tomatoes, cucumber and stale bread. Hotel should have been closed for refurbishment yet we were expected to listen to navigate round decorators and listen to the stripping of wall paper until midnight. The WIFI worked for one night of the week and never since. If you value internet service do not go here. This is not a 4* hotel in any country and very expensive compared to many others I experienced from over a hundred family members that were also out at the same time for a wedding.
Location is very convenient 10 minutes walk to all amenities . staff were very good.
Picture and hotel doesn't match. Air conditioning very poor room facilities were poor.
Ahmet ( receptionist) was really helpful and honest guy. Reception was attended 24/7. City tour organised via hotel was excellent. Breakfast was great. Room was air conditioned and attached bath had all facilities.
Room was relatively small. We had a 9 month old and was confined to bed ( couldn't crawl because of lack of space). With placement of crib the room became further short of space. However the staff were honest about it from the very beginning that rooms are tiny.
Intermittent lift operation at best, droopy showerhead within a tiny bathroom and a very ordinary breakfast. I would rate this place no more than two stars.
Place look old! Elevator not working well, staff not attentive! In particolar the cleaner were 3 and chatting loudly from 10 until 1 pm! Room over small! Even if they informed us that room was way too small! There was not even a wardrobe so no space for clothes
Half of the stuff speaks English (Turks generally dont speak much english) Great Location Good friendly people Good cleaning Good Sleep Had wifi - was given the code at check in without even asking
Cleaning service passes too late (like 15:00) Rooms are small Separate Beds instead of Double Bed we requested So and so wifi signal
position and accessibility to local attractions
lift not working, airconditioning on 20 min timer so room stifling, darkness before light sensor comes on when leaving room, beakfast basic,no tea or coffee facilities in room,
My wife and I greatly appreciated the location--within walking distance of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, the Basilica Cistern, and the Topkapi Palace. The staff was friendly and helpful with tips on what to see and how to get around using the trams. Our room was small by U.S. standards, but we felt well rewarded by the convenient location. Cleanliness was outstanding, and the breakfast buffet every morning was friendly and generous. We would stay here again on a repeat visit, and we would recommend the Sarnic West Hotel to all of our friends.
its on a nice place good area
I dint like the staff on the loby and por breakfast
The guy on reception was very helpful and tried his best.
The rooms were tiny not anything like the pictures when I booked. I had really noisy neighbours and when I complained the concierge appeared helpless. So we had a few nights of broken sleep.
Top notch location. You can't beat that. Friendly and helpful staff. Daily cleaning. They booked a taxi for our next day leave at a reasonable price.
The breakfast is quite poor and always the same. It deserves a bit of diversity. Exchange rate for Euro is quite unfair.
I loved the location. It is very close to the centre and within walking distance to the entire city.
The facilities were basic.
The hotel is in an excellent location, really close to major sites. Room was clean.
Room was very small. Breakfast was poor, very small breakfast area, not enough tables for all the guests.
Value for money!
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast delicious and the location superb.. . . 5 minutes from Sultanahmet Square and all the sights.
Internet was very fast and reliable.
Though the booking specified it was a budget room that we booked, I never thought it would be so disastrous. Room had no telephone, breakfast beyond horrible. I regret that I booked this hotel, if I had a choice after arrival I would have cancelled and try to find a better place.
Ahmet the reception was excellent ! Well done Ahmet !
Staff were friendly and the room was clean. Location was excellent.
Having had our first choice booking cancelled by the hotel itself we booked an 'Ekonomik' room at Sarnic Hotel instead. A day and a half before we travelled we were asked if we wanted airport transfers and informed that our room would have no natural light. It was like being in a box. On our arrival home, I checked the internet to clarify whether this information was stated on the website, but it was not. Worse than that, we thought we had booked into Sarnic Hotel, but on arrival were shown into Sarnic West Hotel, 2 doors down the road. Very disappointing. Breakfast was fair.
This hotel was disgusting, rooms that had no external windows, cleaning was very poor the water at times did not work,The room particularly the bathroom had a mouldy smell and the toilet leaked. Awful repetative breakfast. My advice stay somewhere else.
Excellent location. Front desk staff friendly and helpful, breakfasts good, beds comfortable.
Very near to Blue Mosque and other interesting places
No hot water
The location of this hotel is excellent. Easy walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. The Metro is also close.
The room was tiny. The bed fits and not much else. No cabinet for hanging clothes.
Good location near the blue mosque, hotel had a lift which was helpful. Double room was spacious and was maintained well.
- breakfast was boring and standard they also served chips which I found bizarre - air conditioning didn't work for first few days and the staff had a different story for it not working and when confronted they passed the blame and there was no senior or manager to speak to.
The staff is hardworking and very helpful. You can't beat the location.
Good breakfast and the location near blue mosque and boat ride plus bazar
Metro and bus not very close to hotel
