It was a bed, and located close to the main attractions, and the hot water cylinder was good for drying washing. This hotel is grossly overpriced!! My room was a tiny garret,in a building detached from the main office. Where breakfast was I never found out and I never saw a staff member the length of my stay except when I checked out. The room was not serviced on the second day and the tiny toilet roll had run out. Fortunately the door to the stores was broken off (possibly by another irate guest??) and I was able to help myself. The hotel offers aiorport transfers at twice the price of whatyoucan get on line. Also they demanded payment at the the start of your stay, in cash, in Euros or Pounds, and want to charge an extra seven percent if you pay by visa. Avoid.

Sultanahmet suites are very suitable for people, who like home style residence by travels. We had a refrigerator, electric kettle, electric cooker with 2 plates, microwave, dishes and pots. Near to the suits there was a big supermarket so that we could by cheap all things we needed for cook. I generally was satisfied about reserving a suite by Sultanahmet. The bathroom and wc were very small. The mentioned standard suite was describd as a 50 square meters, but it was definitively less than this maybe 35 meters or in the best case 40 sqm.

Very welcoming, caring and accomodating staff. We stayed in Saphire Suites where no one is there on reception. You will carry a set of keys one for main building entrance and the otherone for your suite. For any help you need to go to main office which is nearby though.

The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. We lucked out and got a last minute deal on booking.com for a suite (which is just near their main hotel). The suite has a small kitchenette area, a living room space, and separate bed room area. The neighborhood felt very "local", not many tourist around (which could be a something to consider if you feel you need to be near familiar traveler comforts [ie. Mcdonald's, tourist center, etc]). While we didn't mind walking everywhere you may not appreciate this hotels quaint "local" location. Public transport is hard to navigate so taking a taxi seemed like the only other option for getting to major sites (Grand Bazaar, Aye Sofya, etc). It is about a 15-30 minute walk uphill (depending on you route) to the Grand Bazzar.

I'd highly recommend Sultanahmet Suites to anyone travelling to Istanbul to the first time. It's centrally located and affordable, with wonderful customer service. We stayed in a standard suite and our room was comfortable, clean and well-appointed, with a large bed, a comfy pull-out couch and an updated bathroom. And you can't beat the customer service--the hotel owner was so friendly and went out of his way to provide us with recommendations of things to do and places to see. One night he not only gave us a recommendation for a great seafood restaurant, but also arranged a car to take us to the restaurant and back to our hotel. Definitely a great choice for a hotel for anyone new to Istanbul and looking for a good place to say in the Sultanahmet!

Fantastic staff...extremely friendly, knowledgeable, even went the extra mile to verify the car I ordered was legitimate. Very clean rooms, nicely decorated, very safe area. Location was just a couple minutes walk from Sultanahmet. Can't say enough good things about my experience here.

Lovely 1 bedroom apartment in a refurbished Ottoman building, perfect for couples, conveniently located 10-15 min walk from the Blue Mosque and Aghia Sofia. The staff was very helpful, the apartment nicely decorated with the necessary appliances and very clean.

The location of the appartment was great, only a 5min walk from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia, also the Grand Basar could be reached by foot. The appartment self was nicely equipped with all needed stuff in the kitchen and overall very clean. I would definitely choose this appartment again when traveling with more than 2 people. When staying with Sultanahmet you need to know they have 3 houses, on my booking was the wrong address and I arrived after midnight, so I was standing in front of one house while nobody was opening. After calling the reception somebody came and picked us up to the correct house. Also for taxi drivers it is not as easy to find but worked out somehow.

Suites size were good for my family and were well organized and clean. They were not fair with me when I changed my travelling plan from 5th Nov. To 1st Nov, they gave me small suties first and then they gave me large suites. And they charged me the same price for both suites.

Sultanahmet Suites comprise of 4 different properties in Sultanahmet province of old Istanbul. The first few days we stayed near Kadirga Park, the location was great for kids and shoppers, though the rooms were a bit small. Later we were moved to a different property due to plumbing works in the building, the staff took care of moving all our luggages to the new place. It was very spacious, located in a very quiet neightbourhood away from alley traffic. Both places were nice, and were fully equiped with cookingware. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. Would stay there again. I'd recommend this for all families looking for comfort and value for price. The shower drains needed some flushing - I bought a bottle of acid jel and poured it in, solved the problem. Didn't wanna contact the admin for this. Also, some items were not available but were given upon request such as clothes iron, extra bed sheets, pillows & blankets, and there wasn't any washing machines as advertised. Our terrace was good for smoking, but was blocked by neighbouring buildings.

This was a very nice place for us to stay while visiting Istanbul. We stayed in room 27, a clean and comfortable one-bedroom apartment nicely updated with a décor keeping with an Asia Minor theme. If you want to “experience” Istanbul this is the place. It’s in a great old section of the city with very narrow streets, lots of interesting shops, teahouses and a park right across the street to sit and blend in with the locals. Just about everything is in walking distance, historic and tourist sites along with authentic bakeries and restaurants. The management took good care of us and was very helpful with directions and recommendations. Wow, we loved this place and we’ll miss the locals and neighbors that befriended us. The rectangular toilet seat didn’t fit my behind so, I didn’t read in there.

Upon arrival, I was given a 10 minute summary of the local area and how to get to different places of interest. Having the roof balcony was wonderful as you could sit there in the evening and enjoy the cool breeze from the ocean and relax after walking all day. The kitchen is basic, but sufficient, but does not really get a lot of use as there is so much good food available nearby. The location of the Suites is very good, within walking distance off many major attractions. For those who want more space than an evaerage hotel room this is very good value for the price.

We stayed in the Standard Suite at the Gold Building. The suite is fabulous, it was very neat, very well-maintained, spacious, clean and comfortable. Flat-wise, it was excellent for us! I probably have to say that it actually looked better than the pictures! The service was relatively good, they even did some helpful favors for us, and Mehmet, one of the guys at the Reception is our favorite, he is basically very responsive and nice. Would recommend this! We expect a location that is a little closer to the main attractions of Sultan Ahmet (such as to Blue Mosque or Aya Sophia). Well, it is not far, a 10-15 minutes walking distance. But for lazy feet like me, I do expect a closer location for me to go and back, especially to save time. But this is totally not a problem if u enjoy more walk in the neighborhood. Other than location-wise, I would expect a more friendly price. But overally, this is a good apartment/hotel, especially if you're looking for a decent room :)

One very friendly receptionist, giving good tips for a succesfull evening in the downtown. People which are very friendly (sometimes excessively) and willing to help if see you unsure. Rooms are spacious for 4 persons, dormitory bed has a fabulous matress, I slept like a child. Very hard to find the adress of the hotel at arrival, even for a taxidriver was difficult to find it. The soroundings are quite insalubrious.

Highly recommended! We've only ever stayed in the standard suite, so I can't comment on the other room types, but our experience has always been perfect. The accommodations are well-designed and very comfortable. The kicthenettes are fully-equipped. Kivanc, who is the very cool, easygoing, and knowledgeable owner, showed us the new location under construction which looks beautiful (I think there are currently four locations so I guess this will be the fifth). I don't think there's anyplace in Istanbul that can match Sultanahmet Suites for value. The staff has always been hospitable and helpful and the cleaning crews keep things spotless and even washed our dishes and pans every day! The location in Old Sultanahmet is very authentic, away from the path of the tourist crowds in a real Turkish neighborhood with lots of food options, and to our delight our room had a small view of the Marmara Sea even though it wasn't sold as seaview. There are two considerations, neither of which is the fault of Sultanahmet Suites: 1) As with almost anyplace in central Istanbul, you will need to climb hills. Sultanahmet Suites is at the bottom of the hill not far from the sea and to get to the tram or historical sites, it's usually a climb. However, there is a taxi stand around the corner, and on the plus side it's always downhill when you're headed back! 2) The other issue is the morning prayer which can be quite early during the summer months. Again this is impossible to avoid in Istanbul. We've stayed in places where the prayers were broadcast on loudspeakers in four directions and by comparison, Sultanahmet Suites is not bad with only one mosque audible in the central Sultanahmet Suites location. Many tourists consider the prayers an amazing and enjoyable part of the culture but nevertheless it would be wise for anyone heading to Istanbul should pick up some industrial-strength earplugs before their trip.

We arrived at the address given to find out it was office address. We were then told to go to the actual place where we were staying thru some really dirty alley! The walk was discouraging in the sense that wen thought we booked a horrible place, however the actual apartment was nicely furnished and v clean. It was close to Blue Mosque. Overall OK with a B +

What a great place! We would definitely stay there again. We were stuck in a pokey room without a window at first but later moved to a great two room suite. Sound insulation between the floors is poor which means you are better off being on a top floor.

Good location, main sites in walking distance. The beds were comfortable. Nice little shops and kebab places around the hotel. Kids playing ground 50 metres from entrance. Nice and helpful staff. They have 4 locations, I stayed in their Gold building, so it may be different in other locations. The water is heated with gas, and for some reason the temperature is changing from ice cold to very hot -- hard to take shower and wash kids. There is a minaret across the street and each morning at 5 you hear VERY LOUD call to prayer. The kitchen equipment is very limited, though the manager took some extra plates after request. The street to reach hotel is very narrow, pay extra attention to cars, as you have to manage to move somehow to move between the traffic and street vendors.
