This special class hotel in central Sultanahmet is a short walk from the heart of Istanbul. It has a rooftop restaurant with views of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Bosphorous. The rooftop restaurant offers an elegant yet intimate atmosphere for open-air dining. For dinner, the restaurant serves fine local dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients. Guests can also enjoy a rich breakfast in the mornings while taking in the breathtaking views. The rooms at the Tan Hotel have modern décor and are designed in warm colors. They include a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a jacuzzi. Some rooms have a spacious sitting area. Free Wi-Fi, free private parking and a 24-hour front desk are among the useful facilities offered by the hotel. The Tan is just 500 ft from the Hippodrome and 800 ft from the Grand Bazaar. The location of the hotel is excellent you can almost touch the Blue Mosque from the rooftop. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to any one visiting Istanbul and will definately stay there again if we return. If there is one criticism I have it is that the room we stayed in had a couple of burn holes in the carpet which must be a leftover from when they allowed smoking in the rooms. It could do with being replaced however this in no way detracted from the enjoyment of our experience.

The best location: in a quiet side street just in 1 minute from Divanyolu street, 5 minutes from Hippodrome and Agia Sofia. Excellent brakfast: may be not big variety but very good choise of dishes. And the most important in it - there's no that special smell of "hotel's breakfast" when you feel like running away on the third day. Coming back home we missed it! The fact that fresh orange juice is free of charge was very pleasant. All the staff was always polite and very-very friendly. Especially we would like to thank the guys on reception: Alp and Co (we're very sorry we forgot the other names - next time we'll bring souvenirs to apologize! :)) thank you that you always foreseen what exactly we need - the best restaurants, the best way to get to the place of interest, your tips were very helpful!

Extremely helpful and supportive crew, assisting in everything from good restaurants, leisure activities to transport. Very nice breakfast on the roof terrace with direct view to blue mosque and Hagia Sofia - marvellous. Topkapi palace is just 600m away, next tram station 150m. The rooms are mid size, clean and quiet, despite the fact that the Hotel is in the heart of the Sultanahmet. This is really a superb city hotel for people that want to enjoy Istanbul for a couple of days.

I was most impressed with the hotel. All the members of staff that I met were exceptionaslly pleasant and helpful. The room I had was of a good size and with a very comfortable bed. There was a good range of food at breakfast. I would have found it difficult to find the hotel if I had not come by taxi from the airport.

Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Conveniently placed near all the important sites, within walking distance. Loads of eating places around, be it a little touristy type. If you are looking for quality it would be difficult to find one. Our room could do with a chair or two for comfort. Food ! No real choice, same old omlet every morning. Fresh orange juice was the best though. But the staff were always very friendly.

The hotel and room were exactly as advertised, a solid 3 to 4 stars. Location is central to the primary attractions of Old Istanbul, easily walkable to Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi. Price was reasonable compared to other nice hotels in the area. We stayed in a suite which was very comfortable. The breakfast offered a surprisingly wide assortment of choices for a small hotel, including eggs cooked to order. The Terrace included a somewhat restricted view to Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Transit stop is one short block away. Wi-Fi worked and was free! The elevator worked well but was tight for 2 people and luggage. The hotel neighborhood borders the busiest tourist / street eateries and shops, making the trek to the hotel a gauntlet of sales hawkers who are constantly assailing passers-by, which was unpleasant to us, but we never felt at risk, just annoyed.

The location could not have been better, everything within walking distance or tram. I stayed at the Tan Hotel 3 nights prior to traveling to eastern Tutkey and the staff could nit have been more friendly or helpful. Upon brining my suitcase downstairs for my airport transfer I noticed the entire bottom had torn out. They immediately took me to the tailor who could not help, but then to the shoemaker who sewed it by hand for 5tl, in the mean time I found duct tape, all was perfect. The breakfast on the terrace was fantastic. I stayed another 2 nights after E. Turkey prior to flying to the States. Highly recommend! Carpeting and furnitue a but worn, but all extremely clean

The location is perfect. It is close to everything and especially tram. The staff was extremely helpful. Breakfest is really good (different food, fruits, cakes and many other things, also fresh orange juice and omlet free of charge) - breakfest is served at the tarace with nice view. It is rather quiet location - not just in the main street. Good size of the room and useful fridge-minibar - you can store even your own drinks. Instant coffee free of charge in the room. Internet wire-less connection sometimes was slow but always on. Each floor has its own hub so you can always switch over.

The staff are very polite and helpful. All of them from reception to restaurant and the cleaners are always welcoming and willing to offer all they can to help. Even if some services do not exist in the hotel we will still come back to this hotel because of the staff. The breakfast is good and always fresh. We just think the some rooms need new carpets and some others need to have better air cinditioning to make the hotel perfect and true value for money.

Location is good for visiting during the day . Terrace has nice view... But no big deal Sincerely this hotel is run down, poorly decorated with bad taste and bad value for money. But overall, stay away. And if you don t find anything better in the same area , go to Taksim and come to this area in the morning.

“Hotel Nena is charming, friendly, clean and comfortable. They serve a fine breakfast buffet, and a late afternoon "tea" with an assortment of tasty foods, both included in the room rate. The hotel is on a quiet side street, but is a few steps away from Istanbul's excellent tram and is a few minutes' walk from the major attractions of the old city -- the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and Grand Bazaar are all within easy walking distance, as are a number of good restaurants. The hotel also provides one free shuttle trip either from or to the airport. I was very pleased with Hotel Nena and would happily stay there again.” Nick, Cumberland Foreside |
