This special class hotel in central Sultanahmet is a short walk from the heart of Istanbul. It has a rooftop restaurant with views of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Bosphorous. The rooftop restaurant offers an elegant yet intimate atmosphere for open-air dining. For dinner, the restaurant serves fine local dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients. Guests can also enjoy a rich breakfast in the mornings while taking in the breathtaking views. The rooms at the Tan Hotel have modern décor and are designed in warm colors. They include a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a jacuzzi. Some rooms have a spacious sitting area. Free Wi-Fi, free private parking and a 24-hour front desk are among the useful facilities offered by the hotel. The Tan is just 500 ft from the Hippodrome and 800 ft from the Grand Bazaar. The location of the hotel is excellent you can almost touch the Blue Mosque from the rooftop. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to any one visiting Istanbul and will definately stay there again if we return. If there is one criticism I have it is that the room we stayed in had a couple of burn holes in the carpet which must be a leftover from when they allowed smoking in the rooms. It could do with being replaced however this in no way detracted from the enjoyment of our experience.

This is the second time i've stayed at Tan with my family and absolutely loved it. The hotel staff seems to adore children so our daughter always gets special treatment. The location is brilliant with great restaraunts right in front of the hotel and the blue mosque literally within a 2 minute walk.

Comfortable hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient for the main tourist sites, yet set away from the main streets in a quitet back street. Very nice breakfasts on the roof top terrace with view of Blue Mosque. Would definately stay here again. Beds are a bit too firm!

Situated in a superb position. Very close to Top Kapi Palace and the Blue Mosque but away from the noise of the main road. Wonderful roof top breakfast dining. Fresh cooked omlettes for breakfast. Hot and cold drinks available on the roof terrace all day. Excellent free WiFi and tea/coffee making facility in each bedroom, which is unusual in Europe. And a jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. Bedroom carpets a little worn but all others were new removing any noise from the corridors. Our air-con was faulty. This was not fixed despite repeated requests. My friends reported no other problems in their bedroom, so looks like I struck unlucky. Noticed several light bulbs blown, which suggests poor house keeping. However I would recommend this hotel.

Location, Location, Location. All tourist sights were within easy walking. Restaurants & mini markets outside the door. 1 block from main tourist street. Free wi-fi in room. TV was small & could only be watched from bed. No chairs. Nowhere to set up computer. Low water pressure.

Tan Hotel is ideal for a short leisure break in Istanbul's old city area. It is very close to the main attractions and provides an excellent and substantial breakfast (included in the room charge) to set you up for the day. The Tan's smallness gives it a feeling of being a bit exclusive. There are numerous restaurants of varying types and qualities to choose from nearby. The Tan's staff are courteous and helpful, with adequate English for tourists from English speaking countries. For visitors who take the Metro/Tram option to get from the airport, the Tan is only 100 metres or so from the Sultanahmet tram stop. I would happily make the Tan my first choice if and when next visiting Istanbul. Room door locks of poor quality. In the case of my room (105) it was difficult to use the key. This let down the otherwise good quality fittings throughout the building.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location of hotel is excellent, as it is within 5 minutes walking distances to major tourist attractions and 2 minutes walk to the tram station. Room is a bit small for 3 of us.

The hotel is located in the very heart of the historical part of Istanbul. It's 5 min walk to the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet) and Aya Sofia, Topcapi is 10 min walk from the hotel. Small picturesque streets around the Tan Hotel are packed with restaurants and cafes for a good dinner or just a cup of cay (tea). The area is safe and comfortable for walking. Tram stop is just 3 min from the hotel (if you wish to go to the modern European part of Istanbul to Taksim square, or visit Grand Bazar, or go for shopping). Personnel is very friendly, hotel itself is small and quite. Breakfast is served on the last floor with a terrace overlooking Sultanahmet and Sofia. You can book excursions at the hotel and pay for them after to the travel agency - we went for a boat trip in Bosporus. Ataturk airport is 25 min drive in the morning. We stayed in 5 hotels during our trip to Tureky in different cities and Tan Hotel was the most expensive one though it has no pool, no spa, no territory and the breakfast is rather modest. We picked it for location and think it was a good choice. As the hotel is located close to the Blue Mosque and some smaller mosques in the district be prepared for the calls to service by muezzins 5 times a day.

Excellent views from the roof top terrace over the old city. Location was perfect, right in amongst the old city and all major attractions easily within walking distance. The room was very modern and was clean and tidy with a spa bath and plenty of toiletries etc. The reception staff and breakfast waiters were very friendly and polite, always able to give local advice and help. Great Breakfast with fresh orange juice made to order and a wide variety of cold meats/ cheeses & cereals. We'd definitely stay here again.

Its very close proximity to the best tourist spots in Istanbul ie. Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, 7mins walk to Grand Bazzar, cafes & restaurant and Sultanahmet tram station is less than 1 min walk down from the hotel entrance. But yet we find this hotel is peaceful & quite. The quality of the matresses & lack of varities in the breakfast menu

This hotel was a real surprise for us! We expected it to be a simple value for money hotel but it really exceeded our expectations! The staff was extremely helpfull, polite and accomodating, the rooms were confortable and clean and the breakfast was excellent. They even offered fresh orange juice and every kind of eggs, especially made according to each client's taste! It is an excellent choise for everyone who wants to stay in Sultanahmet area and I fully recommend it! It is a little difficult to approach the hotel by car, so if you move around by taxi, private transfer etc. it might be tricky! Our driver got lost on the way from the airport and then delayed 20' for our pick up on our way back to the airport! Also, keep in mind that this hotel is not for you if you don't want to stay in the touristic area, because the location is right in the middle of it (very close to Agia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi).

“The hotel was clean and food was really good, sightseeing was within easy reach from the hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, and they booked our restaurants/ taxis / transport to places we wished to visit outside the area. One member of staff who deserves recognition and went far beyond the call of duty was a young man called Fikret. We are so thankful for his honesty & support with a problem we had (self inflicted) and cannot praise him enough.” |carol, Uzumlu Fethiye |
