Taskonak Hotel is comfortable, beautiful and well located but the very best thing about it is the fabulous welcome given by Angela. She made us feel so at home, was endlessly patient and helpful when dealing with our many questions and was always friendly and sympathetic. We had a wonderful time here and I can't recommend it highly enough.
Breakfast was more than great, room was clean and there was a really nice view from the terrace. I totally liked it.
Extremely good view with very good breakfast. Staff is very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Room is a little bit small. No pick up service.
Angela and her staff put us at ease right away. They were there to give advice (English speakers, which helped a lot!) on hikes and restaurants and if they were able, even give us a lift to where we were going. The breakfasts were thoughtful and fresh, and sitting the terrace each day was pretty magical.
The breakfast was excellent,homemade
The staff are really helpful. The view from terrace is just fantasistic. Our room is also very lovely. Thanks to Angela who makes our stay in GOREME memorable!
Although the breakfast is much more than adequate, we just do not quite like the Turkish style breakfast ... again, this is just personal preference, not the hotel's fault.
Staff went the extra mile to be helpful. Location excellent for views although that goes hand in hand with living on a hill which has to be walked up. Breakfast excellent and very fresh. Would thoroughly recommend to people who like quirky hotels with a personal touch
free transport to and fro the bus station which was very helpful because the hotel is a walk uphill (plus the hotel offered to carry our bag down for us when we checked-out). we were given a twin room first then changed to a double room. found out that the twin bed room was much larger and had better views. breakfast spread was great (bread was freshly baked). angela is great with directions!
the standard double room (no. 9) was too small and had place to only go around the bed and with no place to unpack (if you have a luggage, you will probably need to open it on the bed and pack your stuff back before sleeping). may not be very convenient if you are staying for more than a few days. no wifi in the rooms. In the standard twin room (no. 7), we had to plug-in the kettle in the toilet as the powerpoint in the room (on the wall) was too high from a flat place to put the kettle. or you can hold it :)
Great location and easy walking distance to town. Stunning views from the terrace. The room was the most spacious we have had in Turkey. Loved the fantastic breakfast spread with individual coffee plungers, it was a great touch.
We loved everything about this place. The location was a 5 minute walk up the hill from the centre of town. The room was squeaky clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. But best of all was the awesome breakfast that included fresh baking every morning by Angela, the Aussie owner. Frankly, this was the best breakfast we had and the best place we stayed in during our 3 months on the road. We stayed for 4 nights but wish it could have been longer. Highly recommended!! Btw, we had several meals at Fat Boys, a restaurant in the centre of town owned by Angela's husband Yilmaz. The food and staff are great and so are the prices, even before the 10% discount that Taskonak Hotel guests receive.
Well, the hotel didn't have in-room jacuzzis, a helicopter pad, nor a golf course. :-)
The staff is amazing, Angela is the kindest owner I have ever seen... always willing to help, and I could see clearly that she is there by passion besides of the business. Breakfast is simply awesome, with fresh baked bread and always fresh brewed coffee. A variety of juices and homemade jellies make me want to go back there right now! As the hotel is located in the uptown, the view is amazing. The rooms are comfortably and naturally climatized as the building is made of local rocks that are known to provide a colder temperature inside during the summer and warm during the winter.
I have no complaints, everything was perfect.
Great value for money. The price of the room was lower than in most other cave hotels in Göreme, yet the the room was beautiful and cosy, all in stone. The owner Angela was very welcoming and helpful giving advice on hikes and organized tours. The location of this hotel in the heights of Göreme is fantastic, offering great views over the town and the fairy chimneys. The roof-top terrace of the hotel was very pleasant for breakfast and at any other time of the day.
Both the room and the bathroom were quite small. We managed to open our two suitcases but that didn't leave a lot of remaining space. Very little cabinet storage space in the room. The small room size must be the reason for the low price; overall it's still great value for your money.
Price is very economic and the service is perfect. The owner and the staff is very kind. Very clean rooms with a perfect view of terrace. Especially if you will not take the balloons you should stay in this hotel because in the morning around 6am, you will have a view full of rising balloons. It is very romantic. And the owner, Angela's pancakes are highly delicious! You should try in breakfast. In short great value for price.
I couldnt connect to the wifi in my room (Room 7) so i had to go to the loby to connect.
A very friendly and informative staff plus spacious and characterful room made this a great place to stay. Breakfast was good and the view from the terrace, even in the rain, was spectacular.
Very helpful , welcoming and friendly staff. Good location. Great local knowledge and advice. Tasty breakfast.
Nothing to dislike.
-Staff was really nice and helpfull -Excelente breakfast -Great views to the city -Room very typical in the inside of the rocks -Great value for money
- Room was small
Super friendly staff, cozy room, best value for money I think we have ever experienced!
Bathroom floor flooded quite easily - best not to leave anything on the floor
The staff was really nice. The location is perfect. The breakfast is pretty good.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.
Great location with an amazing terrace to enjoy views of the town while eating the excellent breakfast. Alison and Louisa were very helpful and had lots of tips for walks around Goreme.
This hotel has good quality rooms and a reasonable price. The owner Angela can help you with everything in Goreme, just email her in advance. The breakfast is delicious.
We stayed in junior suite, quite luxurious at around 650sqf. A relief from the all night bus ride and the prior night in a small room. Although a small hotel, the room had amenities that showed attention to details, such as thick big bath towels and fridge. Breakfast was wonderful, with homemade jams and fresh sweet breads; afterall the owner is from Australia, while her husband owns a restaurant in town. Best of all the hotel owner is full of local knowledge and is happy to advice about where to go and whatever your other needs may be. I did not realize it in the past but half the value of the Hotel is in the intangible value of a concerned management.
The hotel was converted from two traditional family homes so no two rooms were alike. Access was via two entrances on different levels. A quaint hotel with little nooks and crannies, made all the more delightful by having comfy sofas and seating everywhere. A casually placed pair of harem slippers by the rock-cut stairs, wooden chests and other touches of traditional homey relics gave it a great casual ambience. Angela, and Louise her assistant, were good hosts and helpful with guests' needs. The staff were friendly and non-intrusive. Breakfast was a highlight as, apart from the typical Turkish standards, it included four varieties of cereal, several bowls of different fruit jams (looked homemade), three choices of bread and four different juice options. To top it off, Angela offered some of her own baked cookies to her staff and guests (that morning it was cornflake crumble in honey) -- a regular practice I gather. It's a breakfast spread any top tier boutique hotel would be envious of. Room #8 was on the second floor which overlooked the courtyard and the surrounding hotels and homes in the canyon. It's a great view especially at night when the lights come on. Reminds me a little of Oia village on Santorini where we were the week before. Our room was previously the family kitchen although you wouldn't know it now as it had been remodelled.
The room was small without a clothes cupboard but sufficient space for living out of our bags. It would be nice to have more hooks or shelving as the existing small table for the courtesy daily bottles of water, tea & coffee packets and electric kettle had to jockey for place with a traveller's usual nick-nacks. This is not a room for messy travellers. With a bit of space planning, its not a big problem. The WC is tiny but again quite adequate for us -- two ordinary sized orientals (?). The hotel's location is up a slope from the main street in Goreme. Far enough away from the noise but close enough to all the conveniences.
The rooms The breakfast The location The staff The sitting area with lovely views
Friendly & helpful staff. Fabulous breakfasts with views including balloons if up early enough! Very comfortable beds. Fascinating overall environment and a privilege to be able to experience stone room and cave room dwelling for a few days and nights. welcoming village with culture to share. Good having special 'home' restaurant with discounts down in village.
Being older and with unhappy knees the frequent necessity of climbing the longish, very steep hill was a challenge (though no view without a climb) Hopefully temporary : noise and dust from adjacent building site.
People are friendly. Feel warm about the homemade breakfasts.
The stairs are a bit small if walking with the luggages.
