Score from 238 reviews Very good
it s nice to have an entrance hall and stairs up to the sitting area; feels like a suit. large enough. heating is powerful. nice little windows on street level. plenty of water, coffee and tea for free use. lightning is great. stylish in general.
small wardrobe. no plug next to bed for phone charging. traffic noise from street level windows; but not much. base of shower was bumped up. wc is so close to the basin that you can't sit straight. started to look in need of re-polish in general.
Hotel is wonderful! We did like all! Stuff, rooms, roof restoraunt, breakfast, hotel is near to all atractions! Rooms are comfort and beuatiful designed!
I could not paid with credit card I provided, although there is information on web site that diners card is accepted, and there is no elevator in building, but nothing can not change great impression of this hotel
Front desk staff Elevator
Breakfast View from breakfast room General decoration (except shower) Coffee/tea maker in room Location is both a plus and a minus: it is very close to Istiklal (plus), but a long hike down (and up on return) the hill to Tophane tram station, the closest public transport. I got a good deal in December, but prices at other times of the year can be inflated.
Remember that both mini-suites and ground-floor rear rooms are basement rooms (because hotel is on hill), so if that bothers you, you need a ground-floor front room or an upper floor (but you also need to be fit enough for the stairs) Restaurant/nightclub behind hotel, can be ridiculously loud on some nights No lift and breakfast is on top floor. Not a problem if you are very fit, but can be a big problem if you have trouble with stairs The shower is a design flaw in an otherwise tastefully done rooms. It can leek onto hardwood floor if you are not very careful, and it is exposed to the view of the whole suite. This is fine if you are alone or if you like to give a show while showering, but I wish they had just put in normal showers. Location is both a plus and a minus: it is very close to Istiklal (plus), but a long hike down (and up on return) the hill to Tophane tram station, the closest public transport.
The rooms are large, airy and comfortable. The staff is very helpful, particularly Zerin and Cehan who go out of their way to help you out with directions, tips on tourism, how to plan your day, places to eat, tickets for events etc. Erdi is efficient too and Eysa in housekeeping is super efficient in spite of the language barrier. Very good spread at breakfast. Lovely toileteries and warm inviting smell as you enter the room. I loved my stay here, more so because it is very close to Istiklal Caddesi and very close to the antique district.
The shower cabin is a bit weird, located right next to the bed........but one gets used to it.........and considering that the shower is so openly located, a dividing curtain between the sitting area and the bedroom would be nice. And be prepared to climb up and down 4 floors as they have no elevator. Tram station is a bit of a walk. And many walk-ins would complain that it is difficult to locate the hotel, though I myself did not have that problem. Zerin gave me the best tip to give the taksi their phone number and then you are delivered to the doorstep!!
stylish design hotel in a perfect location - the room is spacious and decorated with taste - value for money is excellent
No lift Location
Perfect location for wondering around and food. Short cab ride to all tourist spots. Rooms are big and very comfortable. Breakfast is great and the lounge where it's served charming with a great view. Highly recommended.
Before we got there I was really unsure if we had made the right choice to stay in Galatasarai. From the second we stepped through the door I knew we would not regret it. The hotel is simply beautiful, every detail, to the tiles in the bathroom is perfectly chosen. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, recommending restaurants and turkish baths. The breakfast is a bit of a hike up the stairs to the top if like us you are staying on the ground floor. But so worn the climb. The best thing is the location. Few excellent and not touristy restaurants around, couple of places to have tea or breakfast with the locals. And only a few minutes to the tram, which takes you to all the sights you might want to see. Very much recommended. Check out my blog for pictures of my trip including the hotel. http://www.fabmums.co.uk/2014/08/istanbul-love.html
Very, very minor complaint. Our room was on the ground floor and breakfast was on the top and no lift in the hotel. But breakfast was so delish, totally worth the hike.
- The smallest detail is well thought of. - style of the house is well kept - stylish and relaxed - small and luxury
Breakfast was nice, rooms look great, staff was helpful and spoke good english
You have to walk up 4 stairs for breakfast, but at least it has a view
The atmosohere of the hotel . Everything was just perfect.
Highly comfortable and centrally located..
No elevators in the hotel.
Close to restaurants, Turkish bath, shopping, and all the major landmarks - yet set in a quiet neighborhood.
The rooms are well decorated, the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast area has a nice view on the roofs of Istanbul.
The lobby is tiny. The mattress is uncomfortable, the closet is super small especially if you are 2 people in the room. It can get noisy in the early hours of the morning.
Decor and quaintness
We loved the extra space in the room with a desk and sofa. It was beautifully deocorated and complimentary coffee, tea & water. The staff were very attentive and professional, trying to help with any our wishes.
I like the style of the hotel and the decor .. Every day they put pices of chocolate .. And in the first and last day they give us box of chocolate .there is free water every day
The location is hard to reach by taxi driver not all taxis know it ! The room was hot cause the AC was in winter mood so i open the window to have some air ! There is a resturant near the hotel and it is noisey with their music until midnight! There is no elivator you have to walk on stairs everyday ! No one carry ur luggage ! When i open the window the cigarrete smell come to my room . I dont recomond this hotel to family with kids ! Breakfast was so basic and there is no varity of choices and every day is same quite booring .. But the style of the lounge room was very nice
I loved it. The hotel is wonderful, the room was large and beautiful, and the view from the restaurant was fantastic. Absolutely wonderful.
The hotel was quite difficult to find..
Quirky design Close to local cafés, transport.
The hotel design is very modern and chic. It was very clean, good value for money and facilities were very good. The location is also very close to Istiklal street
some of the staff were not very informed.
The room was great and love the in-room shower and the free chocolate Great location Restaurants are five minutes away
The design, the breakfast & all the staff.
Air quality, needed more fresh air. Couldn't get on the ground floor.
Rooms were clean with nice designs. Nice boutique feel to each room.
Not sure about the freestanding shower, a lot of water leaked out and into the room. The room we were given was not secure. It was very easy to get into the room without any force due to the aging wooden doors. When we informed the management, they could only move us to a room facing a nightclub so we decided to stay in the same room. They did give us the option to move to their hotel in Nisantasi but we're not willing to keep the same rates. It's an old building which has character but I feel safety should be number one priority.
We loved the area and our room was gorgeous, beds comfortable, breakfast delicious and the staff were unbelievably helpful and kind. Best of all our children (3 and 5 yo) had a wonderful time and the hotel organised a brilliant baby sitter so we were able to have a night out relaxed in the knowledge that our children were happy and in good hands.
