The Sofa Hotel Istanbul  

Booked a suite for 800 euro... A suite and a suite t that cost shd be best room in hotel.. Was a cold,sterile depressing rectangular room.. No natural light was explained in booking but it didn't say it was in the bowels of the hotel.. Overlooking a Japanese garden...was a running tap in a sand pit...was the worst hotel room I have stay in in 25 years... So we took a standard room... As much better and over half the price.. Except they would not give us a discount.. Paid Same price and said it was bc they couldn't change price bc of bookings.com... So stayed at a room half the price of what I paid...and still had to pay for breakfast and Internet...800 Euro per night..2nd night could not sleep bc of street noise...no sound proofing...have never felt so robbed in a hotel.. Happy to spend 800 euro per night but not for a janitors storeroom and they shed have at least given us breakfast and Internet... They blame bookings.com for o flexibility

Great location around many nice and trendy cafes and restaurants. nice shopping mall across the street with a movie theater and food court.

I have liked the location being in the centre of a shopping area with many shops and resturants around.

no WIFI in the room which made the lobby a very busy area for people trying to get net connection . no contingency plans during riots and strikes like the first of may for transporting residents to important location like the airport

be aware that everything is extra and you should get all the info when you check in to be sure what you are going into. On top of that I paid for a deluxe room but it had no windows, when complained they told me it was a "tranquility room". On my first shower all the bathroom was flooded. The TV screen was only a few inches bigger than my laptop's screen. And for breakfast, that was not included, the price was exorbitant. They talked me into a special package that ended in 19 euros (plus tax).The Air conditioner is not individual to the room so when at nights they stop it it is hot in the room, temperature went from 21.9 C to 24.7 C (there is a thermometer in your room). Of course internet was not included only free on the lobby that had the music at full volume and had smell sprayers that made my allergies soar. For two nights during my stay, I did not have the turnaround service. After staying on hotels of the same or superior category in Istanbul, please avoid this one unless you are desperate to stay in the Nisantase area.

Lack of an espresso machine in the room and no free wifi in room (thats simply not acceptable for this type of hotel) Difficult approach of reception staff. Based on earlier traveler's feedback, we avoided having a room without a real window!

The check in / reception staff - bland. Flat, no enthusiasm, smile etc. The bedroom - mattress was collapsed in the middle, very uncomfortable. The room was a wheelchair accessrroom (we didn't request this) so could not have a shower without hiding the shower head as a shower seat did not allow you to stand under the shower. TV size was tiny - about 15'' - very strange for 2013! Heating in room did not work until technical service came. Breakfast was very poor - had to pay extra if you wanted an omlette etc. Apart from the concierge and massage therapist, I found the staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. So strange in a city that excellent service is the norm everywhere. Very disappointing overall.

The have took extra 20 er per knights for changing the room ,and also they have try to take from me 350 turkish lira ,they said I have scratched table which is unbelievable Sent from my iPhone

The standard room I had was huge in comparison to many others I have stayed in. It had an excellent bathroom also. I liked the little touch on arrival of the hotel offer to iron three items foc for me.

The only two things that go against the hotel are the very high price (although I booked it cheaper through a booking site than you could direct with the hotel) and the time it takes to get there from the airport thanks to Istanbul's horrendous traffic

The location and the cleanliness

Everything was very clean and the personnel helpful and friendly. I is located near all the wonderful shopping. Getting to the center of Istanbul was only 30 minutes away.

Location. Infront of the hotel there is a mall name citi's I liked it. And there is a cinema also.

The room that I booked was small and the rate was high for this room. The bed was not comfortable and the tv is very small. When we arrived there was no one waiting on the door to take my bags. The elevators are small. I changed my key more than 5 times! Because its not working and when I asked the receptionist he told me that the key is very sensitive!.

The location is amazing, you just facing the Shopping Mall "City's Nisantasi" and many shops & restaurants are just across the street. The staff are really friendly, where they are in you help all the time with their smiley faces. Personally, find the hotel much more nicer than the photos, where it didn't give the real taste of the hotel.

At 506- room , there was a sewer smell from the ac at a specific time daily and lasts for an hour or so, that's why I changed my room.

In close proximity to elegant shopping and rooms size and ambience is excellent. Will visit again. Vishal

we stayed one night at the hotel.. the room was big enough, clean, staff were very helpful especially the concierge..

we encountered a problem with the air conditioner, the room was hot suddenly in the middle off the night and we had to call a technician to fix which he did, also there was hammering noise like they were fixing something in the hotel.. a little too much for one night stay..

location is great restauarant is fabulous for dinner

cost of drinks/coffee etc at the main floor bar is too high! Mini bar is outrageous - 7 Euros for a water bottle 10 Lire for a tea bag!!
