the quietness, the village, learning about the turtle season. I was not interested when I first arrived but after learning about the nesting season, seeing the large tracks of the enormous turtles from the night before I eventually wished that it wasn't raining so hard at 4am to go check out the large amazing creatures. Food was delicious but much cheaper in the village and was just as delicious. All in all it was
Our main reason for venturing into the rainforest and to the end of the northern range was to have the opportunity to go to Paria Falls. The sea was to rough and the mouth of the river was to shallow :( It was our 2nd attempt within 13 months still a no go :( They didn't have any hummingbirds at the nectar pots in the mornings as promised. We figured it wouldn't be difficult due to it being located in a rain forest. Not enough options for cocktails, menu was a bit pricey, weather rained entire stay but we were on honeymoon so it didn't matter :)
The location, very peaceful. Staff was outstanding
The solitude was refreshing. A quiet, uninterrupted get away. Friendly staff. The food was tasty. The room and bed was very comfy. The beach and river are perfectly located at back. Very safe environs and I loved the freedom to explore!
I found the food and drinks were a bit expensive - it was tasty but overpriced. Most of the staff are Swedish so they don't know much about Trinidad - may be a downside for foreigners, but are friendly and nice to talk to.
Hinkr in the djungel with a guide!
Cabins are actually as they appear in the pictures. Staff is super friendly, food is some of the best we had on the whole island and the prices are very reasonable by island standards. Turtle hatchery close by seems professional and environmentally focused, not some kind of touristy scam -- I was shocked to have never been asked for a donation. Locals are almost strangely respectful, never once did I feel like I was being preyed upon.
Wifi worked fine in dining area but could have been better in the room. Not that I'm really complaining about that, though. It was a fantastic little place.
The kitchen staff was incredibly amicable. Their service was flawless and the food was quite good. Their homemade bread is the stuff dreams are made of.
The rooms are airy, well-furnished, and tastefully designed and decorated. The food from the on-site restaurant was simple, healthy and well-prepared. The river running beside the site offers cool fresh-water swimming.
The road to Grande Riviere (the village where Acajou is located) is in very rough shape. The Trinidad government should invest in road improvement on the northeast coast the same way it has in Tobago.
The setting was amazing, very serene
it is a resort for couples not for children, because it was so quiet i felt that my group was a bit loud for the other guests. there are not many activities to keep children distracted
Location and view. The community was friendly and the hotel's staff.
The mosquitoes that came in the room through the holes of the cabin's netting. I did not like the rough - dirty beach.
the rooms are surprisingly cool although there is no ac, air conditioning is not needed
the walk way to the beach within the facility could use some refurbishing
Once in a lifetime experience when the turtles come ashore to lay eggs
The road getting there
Loved every about Acajou. The wooden cottages are very special and well equipt. Loved the bed and colored concrete sink and floors. The setting is awesome and we got to see severel leather back turtles lay. Only wished we had stayed 2 nights. Next time for sure!
The breading sea turtles are amazing
All the staff were very courteous and helpfull . The setting and ambience of the place is good . Strong appeal as you drive in and attractive as a place for a nice break .
There was no water in the room for drinking or making coffee . There was a free flow of insects / bees into the bathroom . I had to kill two small cock roaches on the neeting on the bed . I suspect defumigation has not been undertaken and the upkeep is not happening .
Gorgeous cabins and bathrooms, wonderful service, delicious food, loved seeing the turtles nesting and the complimentary freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice upon our arrival. It felt like paradise.
The road to get to paradise was scary and treacherous.
Excellent location with easy access to the beach for turtle viewing. Lovely garden and well prepared food.
The facility worked to blend harmoniously with nature
There were no options if problems occurred. The electricity was out for a day. The wifi was not working and the menu was limited and pricey.
The turtles were awesome The employees are very nice
It took forever to get there The internet kept going on/off all the time
No Wifi reception in accommodation The most unfriendly staff and management ever encountered Loud village music during the day Dogs barking during night
Very rustic and simple...yet comfortable!
They may need to get a chef!
Very cosy cabins, very clean, fantastic food and very close to the beach. Purpose was to see leatherback turtles coming up to. Lay eggs on the beach.
Road to get to Grande Riviere is awful. Nothing to do with Acajou though. Bar closes with restaurant but plenty near by.
Staff warmth and enthusiasm.
Nothing regarding the hotel.
The staff was incredible! Definitely going back again!
Quiet environment, lush gardens, sympathetic cottage design and location
not worth the price, but in Trinidad this is always the case
Cristina, Naiomi & Darren were gracious & helpful -- Nicolas a great birder and the leatherback performance stunning! Lovely location terrific even given the somewhat extended travel getting there.
No problems--Should have stayed longer on Trinidad!
