I felt very comfortable there, the lodge is very near from the university of west indies and Louise (Hostess) and her team were very friendly, attentive and polite.
Outstanding hospitality by Louise and Peter. Louise is an excellent cook and Peter is a very entertaining guide.
This is by far the best place to stay in Trinidad . All those fantastic reviews that you read are absolutely true ...!!!! ... and tours with Peter are pure delight. We will never forget picknics he and Louise prepared for us ...Imagine drinking wine in crystal glasses on the beach . I,also, hightly reccomend that you take tours with Peter . He is fantastic quide and very engaging conversationalist . We are absolutely delighted with our stay and will not consider staying anywhere else on our next trip to Trinidad .Book with confidence ! You will not be dissapointed .!
I did not like that I had only 2 nights to spend there . I wish I could stay longer .
Peter and Louise - great hosts. Cheerful from pick-up until drop-off! A real treat !
Booking Carnival - my 3rd in Trinidad - I choose the Amazon Lodge, because of the terrase picture., Looks like peace far awa from towm. Peter and Louise make me feel comfortable at all. Both have a great amount of knowledge on Trinidad and can offer advice and excursions., The familar place is not located right in the central area. 10 minutes by car down, 10 minutes up, and another 30 minutes to P.0.S. Peter was more than willing to pick me up and drop me off at Caruepe junction for the Maxi Taxi 6 TT$ to POS. Problem the food, when you come back from POS you could eat at KFC chicken - good., Burgers, Doubles (Veg) and bring some meal and drinks up. Internet was free, Softdrinks and Coffe at all !!! I recommend this guest house and the family as you getting a part of it. its calm up here and you have no chance to get lost in the nightlife.:-)) Not neccessary to say, rooms, and bath very clean.
the breakfast .. every day the same. A sunny side up 3 eggs would have been great. Or scabbled with bacon, hmmm Excursions: sorry Peter for a single traveller to much to pay for. If you like all the beaches and trips arround by Maxi taxi you need to calculate every day and extra 1 1/2 hour !!! I DONT LIKE DOGS at breakfast tables etc and they need a long time to learn the word: OUT :-)
Staying at the Amazon Lodge is a bit like staying with family. The guest house owners Peter and Louise go out of their way to make you feel welcome right from the start. They also have a great amount of knowledge on Trinidad and can offer advice and helpful tips so that you can get the best out of your stay. The hotel is not located right in the central area however, as the hosts are so accommodating this does not pose an issue as they were more than willing to pick us up and drop us off if we ever needed it. I would definitely recommend this guest house as I felt the property and atmosphere added to our holiday experience.
Garden grounds, View from Patio, The presence of a variety of feeding birds, Quietness, Privacy and Cleanliness.
Distance from Public Transportation.
I received a warm welcome from Peter and Louise at the Amazon lodge. The room was comfortable and the terrace and garden was a great place to relax with a book or have a chat with the fellow lodgers. I can also recommend Louise´s cooking!
It takes some climbing up a steep winding road to get to the Amazon Lodge, but the welcome by Louise and Peter makes it all worth while. It's like staying with friends, not a hotel. Louise makes wonderful dinners. Peter is in charge of the drinks and keeps you entertained. Just sit back and relax, on the breakfast terrace, take in the spectacular view. Or watch the exotic birds from your bedroom porche. Not only a nice place to stay, but also good value for your money. Would we recommend the Amazon Lodge to our friends? Yes. Would we go there again? Hopefully!
Friendliness of Peter and Louise, excellent cooking and great conversation about Trinidad's places of interest and people.
Lack of hanging space. The high windows could do with curtains or blinds.
We spend a wonderful time with our daughter who studies at UWI. There was no better place to spend that time here than with you.... Hans, Willy and Ymkje from Holland
