Score from 33 reviews Wonderful
the towels in extremely bad condition.the bedspreads had stains and holes.Toilet too small.you can almost bump yourself into the sink!
Lack of facilities in village. Lack of information about what available to do and see locally. Lack of written information about the beach lodge without seeking out someone to ask - e.g meal times, post office, taxis, trips available. Fishing, boat trips, turtle watching. No-one available to help carry bags up stairs to room on arrival after a day's travel Inconsistent food quality depending on which staff on duty.
Fantastic views and wildlife nearby.
too loud - not because of the lodge but because of the neighbours boosting music all over the place until 3 am (do not come on a weekend, during the week it's nice and quiet!)
close to the beach, friendly owner
You are not within walking distance of much else other than the beach, and a snack shack on the beach.
Great remote location, allows you to appreciate the natural beauty of the jungle and the beach, and meet the locals. The staff was very nice, and the food was great and good value - we ended up eating most of our meals here.
Wi-fi was very poor and didn't work in the room.
Overall it is a nice place for those travelers who do not expect anything at all from hotel. We had 2 nights to enjoy sun, sea, beach and food. To get to hotel was hard enough, takes more than an hour by car because the road is in the mountains with constant turns. Not every taxi driver agrees to go there and our driver asked us $85 usd. Staff met us respectfully but without a smile. They didn't ask anything at all. Just gave us receipt and keys. Room - I was "surprised" to see shower and toilet right in the room. I always imagined that bathroom should be separated by walls, but it was not the case. To satisfy your essential needs you may need to ask your partner to leave a room for a while. Food - hotel has its own restaurant and it was a big +. Food was delicious and I didn't have any problems afterwards. For breakfast they serve same meal every day. Not a big deal for a short stay. On the beach there is only 1 cafeteria with very limited menu, so - only two options. Location - hotel is located across the road from the wonderful beach and has relax area with sofas and chairs to enjoy amazing sea view (we didn't take sea view room and it made sense for us).
Everything Staff, food, area close to beach
Hotel is a little to rustic for me
The beach is really close by where you can get good food and pineapple and Malibu
The cost of getting there and back. We only stayed one night and it cost us US$100 in round trip cab fares to and from the airport.
A walk on the beach looking for nesting leatherback turtles. Swimming in the Caribbean. Fireflies at night.
-public transportation is safe. the official bus from Port of Spain comes 2-3 times a day to Las Cuevas. $6TT each way. instead, grab a MaxiTaxi (like a minivan) and squeeze in; it's worth it since they pass by once every half hour or so. don't always rely on locals for the info; the staff told me "bus comes around 10-11) and I waited till 1pm to find out the bus I had a ticket for passed by at 2:30pm daily.
great staff, breakfast was delicious, and not too crowded (i visited early feb 2015). the beach is minutes away. Las Cuevas is a gorgeous, quaint beach. a/c in room worked great.
Food service takes time, but this is NOT limited to this resort. It is a different vibe and pace on the island.
The beach is amazing and proximity to the beach can't be beat!
The limited menu, lack of snacks......
The quiet, comfort and privacy of the location.
The room we stayed in needed a new bed, it was slumped in the middle and we could feel the springs. It also wasn't kept very clean and we had to ask for the sheets to be changed after our 3rd day there, beyond that they changed our sheets regularly. The food was decent, although at two separate times we found hair in our meals. The service was hit or miss in the restaraunt. Sometimes we would be helped right away, other times we would wait for nearly an hour before being acknowledged.
we loved the location, right across the street from the best beach in Trinidad. The view was amazing! The manager and some staff were very helpful. The food was pretty good, though the menu was limited. The price was a bargain for the location.
This place should be re-"starred" because in my opinion should only be one to two stars. The staff could be assumed as "stand-offish" at first but the are friendly really. Don't expect a four star resort because it is far from it but the location, the beach, affordability and food definitely makeup and we would stay again.
The location is isolated without a car and $70 USD each way from POS but the view and beach is unbeatable. We loved our stay because of this.
Very simple accommodations, probably wouldn't stay for more than a day. Just a small room kind of tight for two people for a long stay
Great view of the nicest beach in Trinidad, nice day trip. Allowed an early check in and even though we got there later than planned they made us a lovely breakfast
The facilities are not the best, the place needs refurbishing. Though they were generally kept in a decent condition, there were some droppings in the shower area that should have been cleaned and used soap that should have been removed. On the last night of my stay the a/c didn't work well and the host was not willing to even come to the room to verify the complaint - she actually refused to answer any subsequent calls. We spoke and came to an understanding at check-out however the customer service left much to be desired! It was not consistent, sometimes good at other times noticeably bad!!!
The natural environment and proximity from the beach is good.
The facility is located on a very steep incline, which is really hard to get up to once you're down on the beach especially for people who may have foot/related injuries like myself. The bar located across the road also plays loud music for pretty much the whole weekend, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, maybe get somewhere further from the beach facility or go during the week.
I loved the room (we stayed at the bigger room with fridge, TV and microwave), the staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was great. Even if I we're on the beach for the day, I will definitely stop in for a meal. We were really happy with the facility itself.
The bed was horrible it needs to change it actually broke and we took of the top mattress and slept on the floor there we condom wrappers between the mattress and the base. The host was very hostile the night when a little accident took place when my partner went out and returned honest mistake.I dont think i would stay there again,
I liked the view from the room and the service we got for breakfast.
My boyfriend and I spent one night there and would definitely recommend it to locals and foreigners. The staff, the service and the food all lived up to my expectations.
The manager requested that if there where any problems to see him or his wife - however he was never available and to be honest could learn how to greet people - by asking about persons stay, options available - such as tours. The staff where good -providing help and information - however I felt that the manager and his wife could have made more of an effort!
The location was perfect - just opposite the beach with stunning views. Fantastic tour provided by Rodney, a local tour guide - why the lodge did not promote local tours I will never know!
When we arrived there was no electricity and no back up generator. had to drive all the way back into town to get something to eat
The location and room were very nice
Not all staff was welcoming n accommodating ! One in particular need to improve her people skills so that she can interact with her guest appropriately ! Service was poor in quality! Found 3 cockroaches in our room. After 3 days we had to request room clean n beds was made up without changing sheets that was dirty.
The sea view was n air conditioning was both refreshing.
Rooms could use some updating. More attention to room cleanliness. Include souvenirs to purchase. The instant coffee, would have preferred brewed.
Great food and drinks. Friendly staff. Beach was across the street. Great views of beach, mountains, and forest. Reasonable prices for food and room. Had air conditioning!
Loved the scenic view of the beach and it's easy access. Also loved the atmosphere of calm and serenity.
The woman who ran the hotel was very rude
I like that I was close to one of the best beaches trinidad had to offer
Location is ok
