The owners of Ubus B&B 箼篰斯民宿 are some of the nicest people I have met in Taiwan and I already lived here for little over a year. She and her friend are local Taroko natives. The second that we entered her B&B she gave us drip coffee and steamed bamboo with rice. I took my partner and my mom here, they both loved how comfortable the place is. We booked the two double bed (around 4545 NTD, a little over 130), but it included breakfast and snacks. Not only that, but she took both my partner and I to Taroko Shakandang Trail, picked us up on the way back, waited for us to get food at 7/11, AND the following day took us to the train station out of pure kindness. Since we had to leave early we did not have breakfast, so she gave us a bit of money back covering the breakfast! Its been a long time since I met someone with that amount of kindness. The day that we left, my partner forgot her apple watch, and the NEXT DAY she sent via mail to our place. She never asked for money in return and we are grateful. Definitely coming back some time in the future. The facility is clean, the shower is big and comfortable, the kitchen has all types of utilities (air fryer, microwave, coffee makers, wifi, etc). I highly recommend this place since its not only accommodating, but right NEXT to Taroko National Park. Amazing experience.

Taroko Gorge is absolutely stunning and there is so much to see and do. We went for 3 days 2 nights but we definitely could have stayed a week to explore everything there is to offer. We travelled with a 15month old and I would recommend the baby carrier even though a lot of the trails are stroller friendly. You can also easily reach a lot of the sites by car and doing a short walk so its pretty accessible to the majority of family members.

Uncle and auntie were a nice old couple who were very attentive and helpful to our needs. We arrived late at the premise and had bought takeaway dinner which they allowed us to eat at their dining area. They prepared free drinks and fruits which were thankful for. We had a wonderful time during the dinner and breakfast chat. The scenario was fantastic with the mountain backdrop and the surrounding farms around the area. My family enjoyed the stay very much and the excellent local breakfast. Thank you for the warm hospitality and we wish both of you good health, longevity and happiness. We will stay at your place again when we visit Hualien next time.

This small, quiet town gives wonderful access to the Taroko Gorge while allowing you lots of quiet after you've explored for the day. It is definitely not the place to go if you want a more lively night or if you require a lot of dinner choices. They have regular buses that run from the park to the nearest train station so you could head into the busier Hualien if you wanted to.

    A hikers paradise!!

A hikers paradise!! The town itself is small but has basics like a few restaurants for food, a 7-11 and a bus to Hualien or Tianxiang If you’re wanting to see Taroko, I’d say this is the village to stay and take advantage of the area!
