SImple city , friendly, culvert system not good, too many motor cycles and it is dangerous for a small family riding on one bike, small kid in front, a parent driving, with older child sitting behind.

Kaohsiung is beautiful!
Kaohsiung is beautiful! There are a number of hiking trails that are easily accessible from the city. Lots of restaurant and cafe options around. More importantly though, it's the people. Taiwanese people are very friendly, respectful, soft-spoken, and generally pleasant. Will definitely go back to Taiwan.

We only stayed in Kaohsiung one night on our way down to Kenting, which was way too short! We did spend a few hours at the Fo Guang Shan temple museum which is very recommended for a visit! We also visited the harbour with the Pier-2 Art Center and also Lianchihtan with the lion and dragon pagodas, which were also quite nice. We wished we had planned for a longer stay in this amazing city!
The location for this hotel was very near a metro station. Further down the streets also has a lot of local food which provides traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Comparing to the hotel we stayed in Taipei, the location of this hotel was perfect. Just 5 mins walk down is their famous Liuhe night market which provides lots of nice local delicacies. The room itself was bigger than we expected. It's clean and the bed and pillow were comfortable too.
A clean and comfortable hotel with minimalist servicing. Room size is reasonable and the beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning is excellent and the room is equipped with tv/computer options.
The breakfast options are varied and well-prepared.
There are free laundry facilities on the upper floor.
The location, near Formosa Boulevard Station and the night market, is excellent. Transport from the hotel to all of Kaohsiung is very simple.
The room I stayed in this time was not large, but the hotel itself had many thoughtful touches that I haven't experienced in other good hotels before. During check-in, they even provided local Kaohsiung snacks as a welcome gift. The second-floor bar area had a variety of snacks and drinks for guests to enjoy. Upon entering the room, I noticed that the hotel had paid attention to many details to create a welcoming and homely atmosphere.
An iconic hotel of Kaohsiung that has already announced it will close in 2023.
But for now staff is outstanding, very professional and friendly, room rates are very cheap.
The only downside is that the hotel hasn’t been renovated for a while, but still it feels very clean with electronic seats etc. Beds are very comfortable and rooms well isolated (usually an issue in south Taiwan)
There is a free parking lot.
Good value for two nights stay in Kaohsiung. Once we arrived at the hotel we asked to check the room first because my boyfriend and me had problems with smoke and dust, so the girls at the reception showed us a better room and they upgraded it for free. The room was spacious, no smell of smoke so we appreciated it. The window was not that big but quite ok for us. Just next to Formosa Boulevard MRT station nr.1exit.
Booked the hotel for my parents to celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary travel to Taiwan.
The hotel made a special effort to have a simple decoration in their room and gave them a card.
Room had a beautiful harbour view.
My parents thoroughly enjoyed their stay. They commented it is indeed a Grand hotel.
View from the room is very nice. Great location - with a few minutes walk from the MRT station and to the river side. The well-designed city library is right next to the hotel too.
Breakfast is marvelous: a wide range of choices, especially perfect for who is eager for taiwanese cuisine.
This hotel was the surprise accomodation highlight of my 3 week trip around Taiwan. Newly decorated, comfortable bed, room was smallish- but well layed out, nice bathroom. GREAT VALUE!!
GREAT breakfast and 24 hour snacks and Lovely large dining area! Free Laundry facilities available.
The staff are friendly and can communicate in english... the atmosphere of the hotel is friendly and quiet. And the highlight of all is the swimming pool on the rooftop a nice getaway in the middle of the city... the location is accessible near night market..
The hotel was very worth it for its price. It's conveniently located to different public transportations modes such as buses and MRT, which makes it way easy to travel around Kaohsiung. The area of the hotel is also very peaceful and quiet.
Out room, being 31 stories up, had a spectacular view. The location was also very convenient. The “MRT Lite” transit system has a station 10 mins from the hotel and that made getting around Kaohsiung cheap and easy.
Hotel is pretty old, but clean. Not a lot of transportation nearby (i.e. metro) but there is a bus stop close by. Staff were attentive and the doormen were really helpful as well.
The room has all of the needed items. It even has different bath gels and shampoos for men and women. The hotel provides free breakfast, snacks and drinks.
