The staff was very friendly and helpful!! We had a problem with our luggage as it arrived one day later. Arranging the transport from airport to hotel was a nightmare, but the staff at the reception was very helpful and called the aiport several times and finally did manage that our bags were brought!
internet and location is excellent
staff is not so helpful
Perfect location in Dar es Salaam city center. The hotel is located in the upper floors of a recent building with a pool. Large comfortable rooms with cooking facilities. Nice restaurant and pool on the last floor with views on the Harbour.
The Goan fish curry was excellent
The city, Tanzania is way overpriced, went for a holiday but doing to Thailand is way way better and much much cheaper, Zanzibar by the way is way overrated and way overpriced compared to places like Bali, Thailand, Turkey, Greece etc etc.
We chose this hotel becasue of its close proximity to the Zanzibar ferry. It was a lovely stay, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A member of staff even helped us to walk the short way with all our bags to the ferry upon departure. The food was also mostly very good, although the kingfish that we ordered was very dried out.
Desk staff upgraded me to a much better available room free of charge! Breakfast buffet was excellent, restaurant staff attentive, amazing room with hot tub, beautiful bathroom, balcony big enough to hang out on, teapot, nice bed, big TV with lots of stations, decent view of harbor. This is a great place to hang out if you spend most of your time in the room. Nice working desk too; good internet. Great room for getting work done in; very spacious and tastefully decorated.
I'm sure that this is temporary, but in my stay in July 2014, hotel was under renovation. The main thing they could improve on is the food quality at dinner--seafood was not fresh, dinner was so-so. But the staff in the restaurant were excellent.
Walking distance from the ferry port that goes to Kilimanjaro, and other beaches on the other side. The shops on ground floor are really handy. They do provide airport transfers if required
I is not suitable for children as there is not much for them to do in the hotel or the vicinity.
Cleanliness in the rooms, timeliness in service delivery especially in the restaurent
Heavy noise in the hotel when construction people were doing the floor
(1) Bathroom door's plain glass strips. - giving a good view of what is happening inside the bathroom. (After much coaxing and follow-up, I got the staff to stick cello tape on the glass strips. - I was told, all the suites in the hotel have the same 'designer' bathroom door.) - The hotel may try some artistic painting on the glass strips. (2) Lack of harbour view. - Most of the suites have no harbour view, as a tall building has come up by the side, blocking the view of the harbour.- The hotel may change to a better suited name. (3) Elevators - Different elevators in different places taking you to different floors, without any signboard, which is going where. - Putting up proper signboards at appropriate places would be helpful to the guests. (4) Bill for phone call. - The hotel charged us USD 16 for one local call, lasting about 90 seconds. (The Receptionist declined to pass on an urgent message to our local contact.) - The staff may be trained to give prior information about charges like this.
Location near the ferry terminal to Zanzibar . Excellent breakfast.
View from rooms over the harbour.
Difficulties in finding the hotel
Staff very friendly. Rooms massive. Internet access very fast and stable.
Restaurant relatively expensive. Bad smell in elevator to reach restaurant. Washbasins in bathroom partially blocked - water draining very slowly.
The staff in the reception is poorly trained, the one who received me during the night shift when i checked in on 28 May 2014. Simple addition on the charges to be paid, he put a wrong amount in my credit card. The AC of the rooms were not functioning properly.
1. Beautiful view over the harbour and sea. 2. I loved the Executive Room because of the humongous space. 3. Friendly staff.
1. Wifi did not work. Even after the assistence of housekeeping. 2. Lot's of calcium deposits in the shower cabine. 3. There was no blu-ray or dvd player available.
very good and modern facilities
lifts do not open in every floor
They are not prompt in promise , I experience bad room service ,also airport drop once they promise & later they denied .. next time I will not prefer to stay in the same hotel
No highchair for our daughter in the restaurant. I asked about what we could order for the baby and chicken veg rice was suggested...this was fine but we were charged adult price. Not very child friendly! A problem which is somewhat nationwide.
Upgrade from studio to executive King, the calamari and the king prawns in the seafood platter were fantastic. the friendly and attentive staff
Fish and chips first night was from the freezer, not fresh from the sea but as it was 10pm at night I will let that pass, lobster in the seafood platter had no meat so better not served
My room was ok - 934 - clean Good for business
located in downtown - not the best area had to go up to floor 11, the back down to 9 to get to room big commercial building - not my style for a hotel
room big and clean! food is nice! Location is good!
Value for money it was what i expected good location close to harbor front large rooms my stay was comfortable
lots of street noise
This is ideal for short-stay business in downtown Dar and the staff are really nice. Very, very good value for business. Recommend Exec. King room if price is right as you get a lot more for the extra money.
This time I understood why I always rate HV Suites highly. I arrived late afternoon to rain of near biblical proportions that carried on all night and all of the next day. Everyone had flooding problems and water got in through the restaurant area air con but in time for a normal 6:30 start the bar had been turned into a perfectly serviceable breakfast buffet - incredible and the staff must have come in hours early to make it happen!
This is nothing to do with the hotel but a warning to fellow travellers - weather is a real issue for traffic to/from the airport. A journey that would normally take just over an hour at busy times can take two and a half hours when something goes wrong - allow time and take advice if the weather closes in.
Our arrival was well organized, helpful stuff, location is good in the center.
Stuff don't understand english very well, while raining we had water coming in the rooms everyday, keys card stop working very often.
Very big rooms, quite reasonable price
