It was a good atmosphere and really nice rooms.

The food, drinks and transport was overprized.

Very cozy small hotel with very friendly staff! Nice quiet beach which felt very authentic.

It is probably made for couples and it was not very easy if you wanted to go out in the evening for food or drinks.

The location is fantastic if you get a room fronting the ocean. The staff is friendly, helpful & eager to make your stay as great as possible.

The rooms fronting the road on the backside are dark and boring.

I you are looking for a small quiet place then its the right location. Great beach, good food and friendly staff. If you want some action then Paje beach is just a 10 min walk or by taxi the whole island is reachable without problems. While you are there try some tours as well like Stone Town, Dolphin tour and snorkeling!

we have been in Mama mapambo 4 nights, end of the year/start of new year and it has been a great experience. It was our first vacation in Zanzibar and we likely selected Jambiani and Mamamapambo to start our trip thanks to Tripadvisor suggestions. It is a small hotel of 6 rooms front of the sea and very well integrated in the village of Jambiani. Seaside is beautiful with long tides which allow you to freely walk for kms and discover starfishes, white sandbanks and corals on your walk. This was already above expectations (and note we start from an high benchmark being Italians with many vacation spent between Sardinia, Sicily, Salento etc). But the most pleasant surprise was to discover how it is life in an African village. Jambiani is still not a very touristic location so this allows you to have a good balance between good infrastructure and the authentic African village life. People in Jambiani is wonderful, you can walk safely in the village even overnight, talk with people see how the local live (and we learnt all the economy is based on women work), enjoy local food and make a real African immersion and life experience. The hotel is very good quality, room is spacious, well equipped, clean and nicely decorated with African style and included a great quality breakfast. Finally the hotel owner and staff it is always present and available to help. Hotel is located seafront, it has a private small beach where you can relax and from there go for long walks with low tide or a bath when the tide go higher. If you choose room see front (which I would recommend) you also have a nice terrace/balcony private outdoor which offers amazing views (while the 2 standard rooms on the back are a bit dark). And as said, it is very well integrated in the village as from the back door of the hotel you are literally in face of the local houses in the middle of the village. Overall great experience and we do recommend it

what else? just few remarks, 1) the hotel extras (dinner, renting bike etc) are a bit overpriced vs what you can find outside in the village or other hotels we visited 2) you need to get used to the sea waves during high tide you may hear overnight 3) you don't have fridge in the room (I guess the capacity of the hotel electric power system don't not allow) and sometime even in the bar drinking water bottle is not exactly cold, but please realize you are in Africa and the hotel staff is very available in helping you deal with this.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights during our Honeymoon and it was great experience! The location on the beach far from places crowded by tourists makes it the best place for those who are looking for relax and quietness, especially for romantic vacation like honeymoon. Deluxe sea-view room on the second floor was amazing: decorated in style, spacious, with comfortable bedroom and its own veranda with fantastic ocean-view. Food was super delicious, at reasonable prices, plentiful breakfasts, wide choice of dishes for dinner. 2 times a week special dinner is served in the garden for all guests: BBQ dinner and swahilli food dinner that is really worth to try. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Definitely would stay there again! Great place!

There was nothing to compain about during our stay at Mamamapambo. The only thing that can be a bit confussing is the lack of door between bedroom and toilet room in Deluxe sea-view room. We needed some time to get used to it but in fact it's not a problem, just a note.

    Cocktails, food, décor, balcony areas

Using euro instead of pounds (which makes everything more expensive!), long waits for lunches, no door on the bathroom

We have stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and every moment was perfect - location, food, staff, managers Cristina and Paolo, beach, cocktails.. the hotel is very small (only 5 rooms I think) and therefore it is great place when you need to relax and get away from every day heaviness. The view from the top terrace was stunning and quickly became our most favorite place. Hotel also organizes great trips, staff is very helpful to arrange for anything you may need during your stay. One of our favorite parts was the traditional swahili buffet dinner - the dinner was under the stars and the food was 5 star quality! If you're looking for a beautiful place with great atmosphere you do not have to look further - this is it!

Our room was facing the village which was quite noisy with morning prayers. I recommend to chose one of the rooms with sea view.

No (zanzibari) alternatives to the all italian menu. Very dark room/no windows.
