The hotel was so far from the airport (something I hear is common though)… It tools us several hours to reach the hotel. The lady working the front desk seemed to not be aware of how to do her job at a high level of proficiency. She took our passports to make copies (they say they take a photocopy of every person's ID) yet she never gave them back to us. During the process of the photocopies, we had to inquire about a time to leave the for the airport, yet she seemed uncertain. Then, when it came time to pay that night, she said my card was "debit" and the machine could not use it as credit. I told her that I have always used it as credit and it should have no problem. The manager came and sorted things out, but the worker forgot to give us our passports back. Yes, we should have inquired and made sure to receive our passports, but generally people who take your passport are very sensitive and ensure they return it to you promptly. We were a bit disappointed, to say the least.
The food was lovely at the hotel and the room was nice.

I find it really difficult to score this hotel... While there were some good aspects the restuarant service was so poor that it dragged my view I the hotel down. The hotel is right in the beach which is great, but the little streams following into the sea carry some foul smelling effluent that makes the sea a brown colour. The hotel itself has parts that just look unkept. Food was average at best, and there is no excuse for this because Zanzibar seems to have great ingredients at its hotels
Rooms were ok. Close to beach.

bed/mattress could be thicker wifi in room
We started and ended our holiday staying at Mediterraneo hotel....what a great find. The grounds, restaurant and bar are lovely, funky comfortable chairs to sit, relax and watch the passing people on beach, listen to waves crash on beach. Food excellent, staff friendly and professional, rooms clean and modern. Highly recommend staying here.

They never cleaned our room in the 4 days we were there. New water bottles, an empty garbage, and removal of our numerous empty water bottles would've been nice. The gym is a joke. The treadmill and bike are the only two cardio machines there and they both don't work. The rest of the equipment is random and rusty. There's one mat that is disgustingly dirty. They also have no a/c in there. I don't understand why they would pay the money to furnish a gym and then not maintain it at all. It's too bad as it would've been nice to use to counter the lazing about. They shouldn't bother having/advertising one if they aren't going to maintain it. Food is hit and miss and very pricey. A person gets tired of pasta and pizza every meal. Some tanzanian dishes would be nice. This place had the most blatantly over pricing of water. They charge 5000 tzs/$3 usd for a large bottle. Go across the road to the pub. The water is 2000tsz and they have a way more affordable menu with Tanzanian options. I find it very cheap that after charging such exuberant prices for water, they can't even penny up and offer water with breakfast. Dar Buddha, the sushi restaurant, doesn't exist anymore. Again, taking away variety of food available. It feels like the place was first built as a beautiful, well maintained resort but then changed management or something and has not been maintained to the same standards. It's north of the city center so one is not close to much when staying here.
The room was huge, clean, and comfortable. Best shower we had in Tanzania- good water pressure and abundant hot water. The pasta and pizza offered at the restaurant didn't disappoint. The pool was nice and big. The view from dinner is beautiful, looking out to the beach/water. However, the water and beach are fairly dirty so it's not a place to go swimming. Our garden view room was better than the "ocean view" rooms. The garden/courtyard it faced was beautiful, especially at night, and it's cheaper. Especially since the ocean view really only looks through some trees, the pool, and then a small view of the ocean. Not worth the extra money.

I did not like to be followed by those Masai warriors particularly when I am strolling alone. They asked me your room is this way where are you going. You mean there is no freedom to move alone within the hotel premises. I did niot like the fact that the cashiers at the bar always did not have change. Is that how they make money by keeping peoples change. I did not like the party on Friday night. It was noisy and I could not sleep. I decided to go out. When i sat at the empty chair the security were on me. This is for special people. but they were empty for more than 1 hour.
I liked the proximity to the beach. I liked the view from the restaurant. I liked athe selection of fruits at breakfast

Reality doesn't match pictures; status of the place is more deteriorated than shown on the pictures. Beds are so small, you need to take care, otherwise, you may fall.
Loved the view and food...simply amazing! Welcoming staff, smiling and helpful all the time...

The hotel should consider providing information in the rooms about breakfast and check-out timings. A warning about carrying anything while outside of the hotel would also be beneficial. The Maasai watchmen were very good and took good care of us however. None of these points were covered at check-in
The standard of accommodation and food was good. The staff were mostly very good as well. We wanted a place to relax after a hectic schedule and this fitted the bill very well. Food in the restaurant was very good, perhaps slightly expensive but not many alternatives. Check-in provided a list of taxi costs to various points which was useful.

We were 8 friends looking for short sun-sand-see escape after mountains climb. Great website attracted our attention and we booked Mediteranio. In reality - it is better than in the ads

Rooms with sea-view don't really have the sea view, but they are just facing pool and the sea behind it. No sense to overpay for it really. Breakfast menu is poor, also wifi quality isn't the best
Price-quality combination is very well, rooms are spacious and have air-conditioning. Also quite clean and has 2 restaurants with nice food. Beach is private and hassle free, but it's not good for swimming, sea is not very clean. But still it's the best escape possible from loud and crowded and hectic DSM city. Note around 1.5h to get to hotel from airport with traffic jams.

Staff needs training and service levels are very low.
Location and facilities are excellent.

Staff were very slow and uninterested.
The hotel is right on the beach so access is easy and the bar and restaurant have a nice view of the ocean. Rooms were clean.

The reception staff was not very friendly and helpful. There is one Italian restaurant on the property and the only option was to order a full meal - with a minimum stipulated price. With this in mind, it was difficult to feel comfortable while relaxing in the restaurant/lounge area (the only area with seating), because one felt one had to order something to eat to justify sitting there. Eating two full Italian meals a day (in Tanzania) was a bit much.
The view from the restaurant was fantastic as was the decor. The garden was tranquil and shady. The sea is right in front of you, a very peaceful view to look at all day. An excellent place to relax because there is absolutely nothing to do except appreciate the sea and the natural surroundings.

Quite far out of town and the traffic was a nightmare - if you want to leave the hotel for shopping/eating elsewhere it can be difficult. Check mosquito nets for holes as there were a few in ours - but not a big problem.
Beautiful location on the beach, friendly staff, great restaurant (lovely place to have breakfast). Room was clean, good air con and fan.

Whilst we are not complaining the breakfasts were excellent, however the dinners in the evening were a little bland and over cooked a little more kitchen supervision would not go amiss Access roads are terrible, but this is not the fault of the Hotel.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay, the service, the staff were excellent. We do not really have any complaints at all and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
