The location is wonderfull. We have stayed in Fisherman house in family apartment and in January we were the only ones in the whole building. It is in the second line from the ocean in very nice garden. Apartment is really huge, not as cottages in front of the ocean. Nice facilities in the hotel - view terrace, swings, sunbeds. As the hotel in on a cliff there are platforms around and you can enjoy the seeview on the high tide. Hotel is surrounded by beautifull beaches - on the left side you can walk towards Nungwi resort beaches, but in some parts they are crowded and full of beach boys trying to sell you anything, which can be really very tiring. On the right side you can find just few other hotels and more secluded areas.
The hotel food very average and overpriced. Dinner (HB) every second day menu a la carte (very limited choice), only barbecue was ok. You will not be starving but I've expected sth better for this price. Drinks during the dinner not included in HB package (even water). Bear in mind that Mnrani is a little bit far from other hotels and in the nearest area you will not have many dining options - you need to walk some 15-20 min (in Hilton direction) by the beach (possible only on low tide) or go through the village, which at night is neither nice nor safe.
Beautiful premises. Friendly staff.
Wifi access is bizarrely granted only after you "Like" the Cottages on Facebook.
It was not surrounded too close by other hotels...resorts
If you like drink of the alcoholic variety, Mnarani was double where we paid anywhere else including other hotels etc.
The location was excellent with a secluded feel to it. Water sport and meals was excellent
Photos of standard bungalow was a bit misleading.
The food was great, the location is wonderful, the staff very attentive and the place, despite being a resort, has a family feel to it. We particularly liked that mnarani supports local schools and some of the staff told us they are students on stipends paid for my the hotel. Nungwi is a very poor village and it's great to see that at least some of the hotels actually strive to improve the local livelihoods.
The bungalows are pretty small and smell a bit musty (but after opening the Windows it was fine).
Great location, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, relaxed atmosphere, unpretentious, rustic
Hard bed, wi-fi signal weak in rooms, bathroom needs a makeover, poor shower (shower head and water pressure), food quality was inconsistent, and generally nondescript
overall facillities were good and staff friendly and very helpfull. Good value for money.
the rooms garden cottages were a bit cramped and not much cupboard space but i suppose you only sleep there. Right!
- beautiful view, right on the ocean. - excellent pool - nice general set up with hammocks and loungers etc. - food was pretty good overall - staff friendly
- kind of far from town if you want to walk it takes a half hour. -beds aren’t bad but not overly comfortable -cottages are small not a ton of room -air con in our room was really noisy
The food was great - buffet style and menu choices depending on day of the week. Hotel staff warm and friendly and spa 100% worth a visit. Ellie who works in there was brilliant! Location beautiful.
Only parts that let it down was the room - we had a garden view room which was dated, small and could have been cleaner BUT saying that the other rooms did look a lot better (sea view rooms). We were on a budget so picked the cheaper room which was fine for us as we moved down south for luxury.
Great hotel! The view from the balcony is fantastic . You can relax there all day long. The breakfast and Tuesday's buffet in the evening is delicious . At first we got the garden view room, and had no hot water in the shower. We called reception and was immediately upgrated to a beach view room.
Prices in the bar are a little higher then other hotels. No WiFi connection in the rooms (at public areas it works fine).
remote location, quiet and peaceful place, friendly staff, very nice beach (not many people walking around, no sellers, safe), very nice territory
no wifi in the room, shower sink wasn't working properly, no good coffee
The staff was excellent. The food was fantastic. The beach was great for wading in the tidepools at low tide and swimming as the tide came in more. The excursions through the watersports shop were great.
Suppers were great especially the Seafood Platters and BBQ's. Professional Team that handles the water sports and excursions. Admin and restaurant's staff were excellent.
The service at the bar was very reactive and the rooms were a bit small. Will upgrade next time to a larger room/cottage.
Whilst in a location to get to anywhere else in Nungwi with ease, it has a sense of isolation and calm that is not generally found in other resorts. Great and various seating options and good pool for all ages.
The bar was a little expensive, but that is by Tanzanian prices and not tourist ones.
Very nice place, beautiful view and garden. The staff is great.
The food is not on the level of this place, breakfast is always the same and the diner should be always a bife and not just two times on a week.
The waiters and kitchen staff were very good especially Salum, Jina and Neema. Silvie at Reception was very helpful. All Bar staff were good like Sebastian. Chef Bila cooked us the best lobster
Pestering by sellers of tours etc. At Reception Khamis wes not efficient with giving change or a service and took advantage of us - charged 20$ for 2 jars of Cadbury Cocoa!!
Place, atmosphere, friendly staff
proximity of the ocean, a desolate place, friendly staff
Breakfast is very poor, lack of opportunity to drink a cup of natural coffee during the day
the resort is very pretty, the personnel was just VERY-VERY freindly and helpful, they can even book your tickets, the dinners/suppers and even breakfasts here were very interesting, delicious and tasty; the beach really "works", of course, only between high/low tides, but it's Indian Ocean and Nungwi - it's a feature of such rest, the pool is quite good, not very large, but clean and deep in one part, so, suitable for adults who like water and swimming a little
the room is quite small, and there is no TV (but actually there was no need in it at all for us, but probably some travellers will need it if they are going to stay her for more than 5 days), wi-fi works good at reception, in our room it works weakly and the speed was slow, but walking thru the garden with many rabbits ("bannies") is quite pleasant as well
Loved the family apartment. Stayed with our teenager and pre-teen children-- it was great! The staff was really pleasant and the hotel was great- they helped us with everything we needed. The place is secure and serene-- would definitely stay there again.
Everything was perfect The beach at the hotel has a lot of seaweeds and other sea creatures (sea urchins, hermit crabs, starfish, etc) which are very cool to look at during low tide but make swimming less pleasant during high tide (I walked on a sea urchin barefoot-- ouch!) However, Kendwa beach is just 45min walk away or 15000 tsh (less than $10) by taxi.
The open nature; Not too many tourists; peacefulness, the colour of the water so distinctive of Mnarani, the closeness of the waterfront; the wonderful layout of the setup with numerous hangmats & hammocks & hanging beds etc. It really is as indicated on the marketing video ! Good administrative abilities of management before arrival. Ideal for couples of all ages that want to forget about normal live and its worries ! We'll certainly visit again
The so-called "self catering" house had no stove connected and no crocery, nor pots & pans - we chose this more expensive option for the sake of travelling with babies ! the geyser and aircons had to be repaired (also TV) but quick responce was appreciated (although the batteries of aircon of main bedroom lasted onloy 24 hours ! Daily cleaning is contribuiting to stay in routine instead of forgetting about time. Settling the account was not desirable - nearly double charged for services if not controlled carefully ! Double checking is crucial. This resort is not really catering for babies (no baby chairs in dining area; no playground for babies - staff not aware of baby needs) Food portions are not always adequate for the amount of diners - rather too little food that too much !
Loved really everything! The location was fantastic as was the view. (Great spot to see the sunset) Loved the dinners that were included in the price - everyday was something new and different and the meals tasted fantastic!!!!! The owner and his staff are so wonderful! They really made us feel welcome! The swings and hammocks are to die for! Rooms are basic but very clean. The village is a short distant walk but in the heat if feels farther. Would return in a heartbeat!
service was very good and staff friendly and very helpfull
rooms are small not much place for Luggage if you stay longer period I would that a problem,
