In the very center of Dar es Salaam, Tanzanite has air-conditioned rooms, a 3-minute walk from the ferry dock to Zanzibar. Julius Nyerere International Airport is 6 miles away.
Score from 275 reviews Good
the breakfast very poor and the town was dangerous and very dirty
A super hotel and good value. Rooms a bit small, but ideal for the town centre. Tip, if you are coming from the Zanzibar ferry, don't bother with the taxi hassle, walk, it's no more than ten minutes.
Staff was quite helpful. Breakfast wasn't bad. Good service. Good water pressure in shower.
The ventilation of the room wasn't so great. We were afraid to open the windows since the next building has an open staircase which is only 1 meter away.
he hotel is in short walking distance from the ferry terminal, and without traffic the taxi journey to the airport is only 15 mins, so perfect location for our needs. We were exhausted so we didn't leave the hotel, but enjoyed the comfortable beds for a long nap and a hot shower. We had a delicious early dinner at the restaurant which is surprisingly nice and bright. The best thing was the service though, our waiter took very good care of us. All in all it's a comfortable place, more upto European standards than any other hotel we stayed in in Tanzania.
I found it lacked a bit of soul, and some of the finishings need touching up, and I definitely thought the bar was a bit dodge (empty and smelly). However, that is just nitpicking and didn't detract from our stay.
Good location, close to the ferry. Good to stop by one night before getting to Zanzibar. Bed was good. Helpful staff
The shower head and water pressure were great.
Watermelon juice was horrible. Neighbor was rough.
Clean and friendly.
The water tap has very bad smell was dificult even to brush my teeth, i think the water is from not deep well as they was sewerage smell. Pls. try to improve or you will loose customers. All no variety in breakfast, prefered local food. Regards
Staff were very friendly and quiteful
I did not quite like the location and the facilities, however for the price they charge and if you want a budget place that will not cost you an arm and a leg the place is brilliant
The buffet breakfast was good
Staff was annoying, misleading, and not helpful. I exchanged money at the hotel and after we agreed on a rate of exchange, WHAT THEY HAD POSTED, they shorted me 10%. IN checking out their credit card machine would not work, they blamed my card, had to find cash (USD only) would not except certain bills they said were too old. Almost missed my ferry time as it took an hour to check out. DO NOT STAY THERE
close to the local food market that exists eveneings
Had good water pressure & hot water 24/7. Generally a good place to stay in the middle of the city and freindly helpfull staff
TV reception was very poor ... and not flat screen TV as advertized
There is nothing good at all...
The fly in food.
It is a Cozy Hotel -little bit disturbance due to in heart of city-Food quality quiet good and service.Always as we say room for improvement. KEEP IT UP-with Regards--Ram Saran
Effective Airconditioning, close to ferry..
Small tiny rooms, really high price compared to the conditions of the room, i got a two bedroom suite with same price from little further...
Friendly staff Room service WiFi! Good food
Location is not the best Room was quite small The bar was not open
Nikko is well located to escape better from the traffic jam, which surrounds other city center hotels. During rush hour, ask for advise, how early to leave for the airport, and allow 20-30 % additional delay!
Perfectly located downtown Dar Es Salaam if you wanna continue by ferry boat to Zanzibar (ferry boat station easily reachable in 12 min walking distance). Also nice if you like to get some impressions of African everyday life at the area around the hotel. The well spaced room on 8th floor was very clean and the windows gave nice area views in two directions. Very friendly hotel staff. On the way back from Zanzibar - one week after my stay there(!) - I even could stay spontaneously for some hours at a comfortable sofa at the hotel lobby and do some online work on my laptop by using the free Wi-Fi of the hotel until continueing to the airport! All in all best value for money staying at this simple but very well-kept hotel.
rooms are small, beds wobbly :)
Friendly staff and comfortable hotel
Too far away from restaurants and beaches in the NE of Dar es Salaam
cheap hotel within city centre. Rooms are small, but clean and well equipped
They forgot to pick me up at the airport though twice emailed and one time phoned them to ask for the shuttle. Fortunately a taxi from the airport is not that expensive...
Reasonably priced hotel for the value you pay. Clean, strong wifi connection in rooms and lobby. Friendly staff.
The Tv channels very boring. Breakfast too poor.
personnel's excellent behavior courteousness clean good food fast service fast house keeping
internet is always disconnected neighboring buildings are not up to par
Free internet that worked
Overcharged on the airport shuttle
This is a centrally located hotel in Dar Es Salem. The immediate area is fine though still best to take taxis at night. Close to the ferry port and easy to get around. The rooms are small but well appointed and clean with plenty of hot water. Staff are very friendly and breakfast on the whole was excellent. If you have to stay in Dar, this looked one of the best hotels we saw.
