A very pretty small country town, with lovely town centre and museums and places to see and shops to see. Great food and facilities. Decent architecture, there is a tall tower that must be climbed up... not for the weak or fainthearted. A section of walled fortifications that have been restored and nicely used for tourist shopping. Easy transport and cheap taxis. I used the overnight sleeper train from Kyiv to get there which was superb. A very nice place. easy drive to and from Poland, good gateway place to get to the ski resorts of Bukovel in the Carpathian mountains.

A beautiful city in western Ukraine that captures the essence and heart of true Ukraine. Beautiful architecture, parks, vyshvyvanky (traditional Ukrainian embrooidery), funky cafes and restaurants alongside traditional cuisine. Very easy to get around on foot and mostly flat.

I LOVE visiting Ivano-Frankivsk, it's a fun city to see and many things to do and you can walk to most of it but there are other ways to get around if you don't want to walk. Due to the rain this time, I didn't walk around as much as I normally would have.

Unfortunately there's not too much you can see during one-day trip but I really liked the city. Had nice breakfast at Urban Space 100, then walked around center and went to the top of Ratusha to see a great view. Then went to Shevchenko park - walked there and also around Mis'ke Lake on another side. Had a wonderful dinner at Devyatka (best Varenyky with mushroom sauce ever!) and then stayed a bit on the corner of the same street listening to two guys playing saxophone and trumpet - really enjoyed it. Had to leave super early next day to catch my train but loved walking back to the railway station while city was still sleeping and there were no people on the streets :)

Ivano-Frankivsk is a beautiful city and the gateway to the beautiful Carpathian Mountains. It is big enough to have most of things you want in a city (food, lodging, arts, theatre, higher education, shopping, parks, museums, transport options local and distance) but small enough to meet and greet people as you go. It is easy to walk around to meet and greet people--very friendly and welcoming. It is not far from Lviv (a great gateway city) or the mountains. There is much history as well. Those who love nature will find many options there and in nearby areas. The city lake at the edge of Shevchenko Park is beautiful, peaceful. Ivano-Frankivsk is a place that you will want to come back to again. (I have done so at least 30 times in past 15 years)!malcolmUnited States of America

Nice size room with huge bath. Gentleman at Reception was super helpful when we checked in, helped us print documents (train tickets) and arranged a taxi for early arrival. Very pleasant. Breakfast was adequate and they worked diligently to keep food items plentiful. Great coffee machine. With a few upgrades on bedding this could be a really great place.

Only a short walk to the pedestrian street with many shops and restaurants. My room was clean with crisp white linens and faced the park so it was quiet for a good night's sleep. Staff were friendly and very helpful arranging my transfer to Lviv. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe here as well. I would definitely stay here again!
