Some of the Reception staff sometimes seemed overwhelmed and unhappy with their job. I don't really blame them, after all it's a huge place that fits around a 100 people so they have to deal with many simultaneous requests and problems. No maps which makes the initial orientation of the area challenging. Kitchen too small and under-equipped considering the size of the place. TV area was too small and without any English channels. Some rooms are without AC and also facing the outdoor patio, so it was hard to sleep because of the heat and noise of other guests. Some locals are living long-term in this hostel and they were coming and going at odd hours during the night.
Being an experienced and well traveled person, at first I didn't think much of the place, but after traveling around Ukraine I noticed that the general hostel standards are way worse than this place.Location was alright, in a quiet part of the city, about 7 minutes walk from the metro station and a couple of parks.
Super fast and reliable WIFI connection.
Professional rotational staff (all English speakers). Very nice connected cafe with a nice selection of food and drinks. Generally clean and well designed facilities. This hostel is definitely prepared for external tourism (by Ukrainian standards)
