Friendly front desk staff, they gave us a rose for Valentine's Day, which was a little cheesy, but a really nice thought regardless. Bathroom was modern and clean, with a shower that had great water pressure. HUGE room for nyc, I was surprised. The bed was super comfortable and I had no problem falling asleep. Wifi was easy to set up and use. The area is quiet, yet near a lot of food options and the subway. Our room was next to the elevator and I was initially worried about noise, but it turned out to be be very quiet and not a problem at all.
While the bed was comfortable, the comforter and pillows had a very strong perfume-y smell. Almost like it was cleaned with too many dryer sheets or something. (Or just doused in air freshener?) It didn't keep me up at night, but it was somewhat annoying. That, and the comforter itself had some odd cluster of staples at the end corners?? Again, it didn't interfere with comfort or sleep quality, the staples weren't poking us, but it was a little unsettling. The bathroom would have been perfect if not for the fact that water gets all over the floor while you shower, due to a gap at the bottom of the glass shower walls. Regardless, I consider these small issues, and I would return.
I stayed in the Loft Suite. It was AMAZING. Such a beautiful space. There was a great view of the Chrysler Bldg from our 16th Floor Suite. The bed was comfortable, the sofa in the living area was big and amazing. The staff was great and extremely helpful.
Literally, no complaints. I wish my stay was longer than just one night. Oh -- if there was anything 2 robes instead of 1 would have been great but that was so negligible.
Everyone was super helpful but....
the lock on my door was broken and i had to make multiple trips to the front desk to have someone let me into my room. It also was not easy to figure out the haeting system so when I got to my room it was 62 degrees.brrrrrrrr. Maintenance came up and turned up but turned up to 80 degrees needless to say I woke up hot and thirsty.
Woman at reception desk was very nice and helpful!
some broken facilities and poor housekeeping
The staff was over the top...efficient courteous The renovated room was a delight The bed and the linens were the best hotel beds I have slept in in a long time I immediately made three additional reservations at this hotel.
the HVAC was not working properly and difficult to get right
Location; size of room; comfort of bed
Walking distance to union station, with great little restaurants close by. Hotel was quiet and rooms were HUGE!
Evening and Night Personnel very pleasant and helpful. Unbeatable position.
We arrived at 01:00 am, due to airline delay, nobody was there for the baggage (it is a 4 stars hotel). Rceception and common areas carpet was dirty and on our floor also worn-out. Furniture in our room in bad condition and also worn-out, and overall look of the room a bit "poor", although the room was spacious. Late check-out policy absolutely unfriendly and not gentle at all. We go to New York 3 or 4 times a year and must say we have had much better experience in Manhattan for the same price, or enthusiastic experience for a mere 10-15% higher price. Will not go back.
Comfortable boutique hotel, great location and good value for money. Would stay again
Wifi didn't work, it was broken. Room next to lift was a bit noisy the first night.
For some reason the concierge wasn't able to process our keys and the doorman needed to go up and open the door... But he knocked on 1502 first and the room was occupied, then radio'd and 1005 was assigned. There was a hair in the faucet of the bathroom. 15 mins later another person brought the room keys.
Poor service and unpleasant staff except for the bell boy. Minimal facilities, no breakfast and outrageous prices at adjoining bar. We ordered 2 coffees and 2 croissants our first morning and was charged over $30. The room heating system is antiquated and made a tremendous amount of noise when functioning. I would advise ear plugs if you intend to stay at the Tuscany. We had reservations for 4 days, but cancelled the last 2.
Charming boutique hotel in lovely and quiet location a short walk from Grand central. Understated modern decor, spotless, and very spacious rooms. Highly recommended!
Huge room. Tasteful furnishings. Efficient staff. Perfect!
Very spacey room, perfectly quite (at least at eleven floor). Good location, close to the subway and Grand Central (but not too close). Quick and polite service. Very comfortable huge bed.
No safe deposit box in the room. The WIFI connection is not very stable, but when there is connection, the internet is pretty fast. There is no international (foreign) TV channels in the room.
Great bathroom. Beautiful room.
Bar wasn't open, nowhere to eat.
Noisy staff outside room early Sunday am
The size of the room was great !
Large room, clean, and conveniently located 3 blocks from Grand Central station.
Some plumbing problems with resulting in some annoying noises
Very good staff, I was upgraded in a very nice and comfortable room
Excellent location in the Murray Hill area. Close to Park, Madison and 5th avenues. We were able to walk to Times Square, The Rockefeller Center and dining. The Staff was helpful, professional and willing to make our stay enjoyable. They were able to help us with directions to local subway stations, dining locations as well as local sites. The hotel is located on a quiet street not disturbed by traffic noise. We will definitely consider the Tuscany or its sister The Colony on our next stay.
The Lounge/Bar area was not open except for limited hours.
Décor and staff
Bar & breakfast area
Needed hooks in bathroom or stool. Nowhere to place items, towels, or clothes. Not functionally sufficient for this level of hotel. Also would have liked in room hot water for tea. A lot of space that was not useful.
The room was simply massive - easily 50% larger than your normal Manhattan hotel room for the price range. The rooms are finished to an exceptionally high standard, television was gigantic and the bed was first rate. Staff (Denis) was incredibly helpful on arrival and our overall stay was perfect. Highly recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a base to go shopping or getting in some of the nightlife - Grand Central is literally around the corner, Fifth Avenue is a five minute walk & Times Square /Macy's/ Rockefeller etc. are no more than ten mins walk.
Because the Tuscany is quite a low rise building in comparison to the larger hotels it means your rooms will be closer to the street, hence some traffic noise but then again this is NYC and the noise comes with the territory!!
The bed was extremely comfortable (probably the best ever) and the shower was very good. We were given an upgrade to a larger room which was well equipped and comfortable, with safe & minibar (although we would have preferred just the fridge space) with a view of the Chrysler Building. The location was great in midtown, just a couple of streets from Grand Central Station and a couple of blocks from Bryant Park, which is very atmospheric at this time of year.
The room was badly insulated from a noise perspective and although we weren't facing a particularly busy street and on the 10th floor we could hear every vehicle that passed. The plumbing was also noisy at times and despite switching it off the noisy heating/aircon fan kicked in regularly at night. General cleanliness was good (bed and bathroom were spotless), although there were stains on the blinds & carpets and the inner blinds and windows were dirty. When we checked out I tried to pay part of the bill by using a 'cash-passport' debit card (leaving a small balance on it to cash later) and the balance by credit card but was told that the debit card didn't work and that the whole balance would have to be taken from the credit card. I assumed that this was because the amount was too large a withdrawal at one time, but when I went to use the debit card in an ATM the balance was NIL. This caused considerable anxiety (albeit short-lived) worrying that the considerable balance had been stolen by some means and an expensive phone call to the card company to confirm that the whole card balance had infact been taken by the Hotel. We then had change our plans for the day and return the hotel early to sort a refund as they had taken the full payment from both cards. The hotel did admit the error eventually, but only after I went through their transaction records and pointed out the 'transaction approved' record that they initially denied was there. They did apologise but made no offer of recompense for the extra costs incurred on our part (phone calls & taxis).
