Conveniently located in Manhattan, this unique, European-style hotel is a 4-minute walk from the Empire State Building. It features spacious guest rooms with hardwood floors.
Score from 1091 reviews Very good
The size of the room was great !
Large room, clean, and conveniently located 3 blocks from Grand Central station.
Some plumbing problems with resulting in some annoying noises
Very good staff, I was upgraded in a very nice and comfortable room
Excellent location in the Murray Hill area. Close to Park, Madison and 5th avenues. We were able to walk to Times Square, The Rockefeller Center and dining. The Staff was helpful, professional and willing to make our stay enjoyable. They were able to help us with directions to local subway stations, dining locations as well as local sites. The hotel is located on a quiet street not disturbed by traffic noise. We will definitely consider the Tuscany or its sister The Colony on our next stay.
The Lounge/Bar area was not open except for limited hours.

Needed hooks in bathroom or stool. Nowhere to place items, towels, or clothes. Not functionally sufficient for this level of hotel. Also would have liked in room hot water for tea. A lot of space that was not useful.
The room was simply massive - easily 50% larger than your normal Manhattan hotel room for the price range. The rooms are finished to an exceptionally high standard, television was gigantic and the bed was first rate. Staff (Denis) was incredibly helpful on arrival and our overall stay was perfect. Highly recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a base to go shopping or getting in some of the nightlife - Grand Central is literally around the corner, Fifth Avenue is a five minute walk & Times Square /Macy's/ Rockefeller etc. are no more than ten mins walk.
Because the Tuscany is quite a low rise building in comparison to the larger hotels it means your rooms will be closer to the street, hence some traffic noise but then again this is NYC and the noise comes with the territory!!
The bed was extremely comfortable (probably the best ever) and the shower was very good. We were given an upgrade to a larger room which was well equipped and comfortable, with safe & minibar (although we would have preferred just the fridge space) with a view of the Chrysler Building. The location was great in midtown, just a couple of streets from Grand Central Station and a couple of blocks from Bryant Park, which is very atmospheric at this time of year.
The room was badly insulated from a noise perspective and although we weren't facing a particularly busy street and on the 10th floor we could hear every vehicle that passed. The plumbing was also noisy at times and despite switching it off the noisy heating/aircon fan kicked in regularly at night. General cleanliness was good (bed and bathroom were spotless), although there were stains on the blinds & carpets and the inner blinds and windows were dirty. When we checked out I tried to pay part of the bill by using a 'cash-passport' debit card (leaving a small balance on it to cash later) and the balance by credit card but was told that the debit card didn't work and that the whole balance would have to be taken from the credit card. I assumed that this was because the amount was too large a withdrawal at one time, but when I went to use the debit card in an ATM the balance was NIL. This caused considerable anxiety (albeit short-lived) worrying that the considerable balance had been stolen by some means and an expensive phone call to the card company to confirm that the whole card balance had infact been taken by the Hotel. We then had change our plans for the day and return the hotel early to sort a refund as they had taken the full payment from both cards. The hotel did admit the error eventually, but only after I went through their transaction records and pointed out the 'transaction approved' record that they initially denied was there. They did apologise but made no offer of recompense for the extra costs incurred on our part (phone calls & taxis).
Tuscany is a lovely older hotel with charm yet a modern style decor. Courteous and pleasant staff. Large rooms. Very convenient location.
Overall feeling of almost 4 stars. Housekeeping tries but attention to detail is lacking. Insufferable noise from car honking from 7am-12 midnight daily. Manager has no personality (Shane) and we felt like a task when dealing with him.
Spacious, well-appointed rooms. Great location between Park and Lexington. Very courteous staff. Attractive lobby.
The room was a bit odd -- lots of space but not necessarily put to great use. I did not appreciate the carpeting, which a little visually jarring and perhaps needs new padding.
Room, front desk
Great location, big rooms
Limited breakfast menu
Clean, very functional, comfortable, perfect for short stays, good value for money. Cannot go wrong.
Lacks any charm, reception quick and helpful but the whole place is impersonal. Lobby feels like a waiting room
the comfortable bed, Bar, and location
it is an old building though it has been modernized, Sound proof walls are not at their best
Comfortable, adequate, well positioned, no noise, staff pleasant, not too extravagant and at least not trying to get any penny out of you, could leave your suitcases there for free so that we had time to organize ourselves, wifi in the bedroom free - i see the other comments about the size of the bathroom which (i wonder what is this all about) is the same size as millions of other hotels - on our trip we went to at least 6 different hotels and the bathroom seemed to be all the same size whether it is North America, Europe, Africa or Asia (with maybe some exceptions)
Warm,Friendly with excellent clean comfortable facilities. I found the hotel staff firendly and hospitable they did their upmost to make your stay enjoyable. I will most definitely return to this hotel whilst in NYC and would fully recommend.
I was pleasantly surprised at how big the room was, this is rare in NYC. We were very comfortable, the room was clean and it had everything we needed. We will definitely come back !
The staff was very nice, a little bit more enthusiasm would have been perfect but they were not unpleasant at all.
It is near Grand Central and many other attractions are within a walkable distance. The rooms are a good size for NYC and the price is reasonable (NYC standards).
The bathrooms are on the rather small side.
The Tuscany is about a 10-minute walk from the hustle and bustle of Times Square, but it's a world away. Midtown East is noticeably quieter and less crowded but there are a number of good restaurants within walking distance. You're also close to the Lexington Avenue subway line. And the hotel itself? Clean, elegant and comfortable. Ask for a room with Chrysler views.
I have only two issues with the Tuscany: 1) No counter space in the bathroom. 2) Hallways are a bit noisy. Put in better soundproofing near the doors at the next renovation.
great QUIET room 201, nice firm bed with excellent linens, very courteous staff, very up to date bath with new walk in shower, all with the best location 3 blocks from GC
Excellent staff - very friendly and helpful. Room was a good size. Pricey for what we got, even allowing for NYC hotel prices.
Bathroom needs more counter space. Coffee maker should already be in room instead of having to ask for it. Ice is only in the basement.
This is a nice hotel, very well located and the rooms are large, much larger than the average in the price range in New York. I would stay there again.
When I arrived, the receptionist on duty was not particularly warm or welcoming. He did however tell me that I had been upgraded. How nice I thought. When I got to my room, rather than the corner studio I had booked, with a walk in closet,it was right across from the elevator, not a corner and no walk in closet. I rang down to reception and tried several times, no one answered. The following morning, I spoke to the receptionist on duty about the mix up and he assured me than my room was an upgrade. Finally, on the 3rd day, with another receptionist and on my third attempt, they finally admitted that I did not get the right room, this was not an upgrade and I was in fact due a refund. Shame I had to work so hard!
Rooms very quite 'roomy' - Bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in - Stayed on the 7th floor - There are only 7-8(?) rooms on each floor- and although we were by the elevator - as were most of the rooms - we heard little to no noise from other guests Or street noise. And we had a great view of the City
No Ice is available Limited selection of breakfast items in the lobby and they don't open the breakfast 'bar' til later.
I made some requests at the booking, and they gave me everything I asked for. Excellent customer service
No good breakfast options, not a real lobby, no restaurant to eat. They have one at the sister hotel, but food poor.
Very attentive staff and excellent location.
I wouldn't say the rooms were dirty, but they should vacuum a bit better.
