Location was great. 3rd Ave subway station close by. Subway at 14th St Union Square was in walking distance. Area seemed very safe day and night. Fast check in and check out with friendly staff. Shared bath worked out fine. This hotel was a good value for the price.
I can't complain about the shared baths because I knew that was the arrangement when I booked the trip. The space in the lobby and room are smaller than they look in the pictures but it wasn't a big deal. I was very pleased with the value at the price I paid.
The bed wasnt that comfy
The location is good, between two of New York's most charming small parks. Good access to public transportation. I like the old world, nothing fancy character of the place.
In my single bed room there was very little room and only on small drawer for clothes. I think the price was a bit high for what I got. Be careful in the shower down the hall. You may be scalded when turning off the water. Know which direction to turn the knob. I was literally burned trying to get it off and was trapped there until I could.
Teeny, Tiny Room Very Tiny TV Screen Cold Male Desk Staff Broken Iron Small, Old Bathroom Difficult Location Uncomfortable Bed with thin blanket and thin comforter No heat Very old, dreary look all over Key card didn't work High steps to enter
For the price, the hotel was excellent
The bed was very uncomfortable.
The staff were very accommodating and helpful when I requested for them to book me a taxi to Jersey after I checked out.
Wifi didn't work in my room. It did however work on the ground floor, however there was nowhere I could sit down there. I complained to the person at the front desk about wifi not working in my room. He said that wifi was functioning perfectly fine on level 8. I specifically picked this hotel so I would be able to use wifi. Not having wifi was a great inconvenience to me.
Cleanliness, 24 hr desk, professional staff, location, free wi-fi
The rooms are tiny, but that is to be expected in this style of hotel and at this price point Bathrooms are shared and there's more than 1 per floor but you have to bring the towels, soap, and shampoo from your room with you. That means there's nothing to wash your hands with if you use the bathroom on your way out for the day.
Quaint & old fashioned.
Had to walk down the hall to use the bathroom but it was different & we didn't mind.
Old world charm with an economic appeal. Had everything I needed on a brief overnight business stay. Shared bathroom was not an issue. Clean and well attended accommodations.
Just loved everything about this place, so clean, so well maintained. Lovely staff, everything looked after with a sense of pride. The old world designed rooms and lift have maintained their class, nothing looks faded or worn down, it's like going back in time to when the place was brand new.
Helpful staff, good location, quiet rooms.
Shower basin did not drain well.
Helpful Front Desk Staff; General condition of the hotel. Location.
Very small rooms. Shared bathroom which I knew in advance, but I expected a hand basin at least in the room; which there wasn't until I asked to move rooms because of the paint/varnish fumes in my original room. Thin walls.
This was the cheapest private room in Manhattan that I could find. It was really clean and comfortable. I stayed here before. Facilities are limited, and bathroom is shared but was never crowded. Staff was nice, but not much to interact about. If you need a clean, nice budget place in the heart of Manhattan, this is the place to go!
Room tiny, but reflects price.
Staff very maticulous and available day or night. Although building is old it is kept very well and very clean.
Bedding was minimal and being there in October it was starting to get cold at night. Easy enough to ask but option in room would be useful.
I liked the location and the cleanliness of the hotel.
Everything was really clean including the shared bathrooms. The location of the hotel is great. During my stay I easily walked to and from most of Greenwich Village and was able to get to places like Times Square within 15 or 20 minutes on the subway.
The staff were generally ok but found a few of them to be rude.
quiet, clean, helpful staff, all basic amenities available
room a little cramped but adequate and acceptable for the price. Shared bath also not ideal but, again, acceptable at the price. There was no competition for the bath.
Plenty of bathrooms so even if they are busy on your floor you can pop down/up to the next floor and there will always be one free. Great value. Very clean. Great location.
Can be noisy at night so ask for a room on one of the top floors and away from the road if possible.....but I guess it's NYC so there's bound to be a bit of noise!
Excellent location in a great area. Food options nearby very good. Staff very helpful. Free luggage storage day checkin and checkout very helpful. really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
Extra bed in triple room a bit hard.
The desk folks were most helpful, the entire place was spotlessly clean, and the room, while small, had everything I needed for a business trip. There's a sink in the room and then two full bathrooms down the hall. Other guests were quiet and considerate, which is more than you get at a big chain hotel on a Friday night.
The bed, And no invoice at check out
Good location Luggage storage
Room next to common bathroom and noisy fridge in the corridor. Everything I could hear in the room.
Great location Friendly Staff Clean Rooms Fair Prices Charming atmosphere
Window (at the head of the bed) was drafty. Only central heating, no individual heat setting in room, unable to adjust temperature. OK for fair weather but not sure if would be warm enough in the winter months.
Most of the staff were very helpful and kind. There was one exception!
All the staff were exceptional except the one person behind the desk as I was checking out! Obnoxious, rude and extremely unpleasant!
The location is good and basically the hotel itself as well. Double room is definitely better than the single one.
The concept of shared bathroom is problematic for me. The staff is not more than polite, but not really friendly.
