Hotel is older, but room looked refurbished, new Air Unit. Was clean and secure. Quiet night easy access to Union square subway. Food and bars very handy.
Shower bath didn't drain properly, no towel rail or hook in room for bath towel. Very smelly man permanent resident at hotel, ( I kid you not, I saw a quest Gag as the passed him)but I don't blame them this guy is protected by NYC Laws but who protects us. But I would stay here again I slept well.
Quiet, great location, great value. Loved the lift.
+ good value for money + good central location
Location. Cleanness of room. Cleanness of facilities. Comfortable bed. Overall quietness. Noon checkout time. Kind & professional staff.
Outdated window frame leaks cold air from outside. There was no heat and it could not be controlled from room.
I liked be so central to everything. The staff were helpful and engaging. The lift was interestingly slow and unique. Sharing the bathroom worked out better than I had expected.
The wireless internet was very slow and patchy. Our room at the front of the building was quite noisy
Nice old rooms, in the city - anyway, I was very satisfied.
Shared bathroom - not always there was hot water available. You need to take your suitcase up the stairs to the reception from the street...
Super clean! Great location! Awesome staff, I'm staying here every time!
Good price (for Manhattan). Nice clean rooms, very good location. Free Wi-Fi. TV in a room. Close to subway station. It was second time I stayed in this hotel.
Location and price
use of bathroom in the middle of the night.
I really like almost everything, neighborhood, rooms, decor... I'll recommend this hotel for my friends.
I didn't like the cleaning of the bathroom. There's no problem doens't have bathroom at the rooms, but I think the clean staff should be more carefully.
Reasonable price (for NYC) Clean and well cared for property great location good hours of usage (check in /out)
Great location. Reasonably clean.
Very dark and old looking.
Was comfortable n close to restaraunts n stores
Not much to complain about
We really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is located in a quiet street but within a walking distance to all major attractions. Everything was clean and the toilettes and showers were always free. Grate value for money.
It would have been great to have a small cooler in the room, for water etc.
I was on the 6th floor and my tiny room was awash in sunshine when I checked in. I always love a sunny room. They make clever use of space so the room, although small, doesn't feel cramped.
Nice hotel. Shared bathrooms are a bit of a pain, but it's half the price of the private-bathroom hotels. Bathrooms are quite clean and usually free. The internet is ok.
The bed was too short. The power plug near the bed is in an inconvenient place.
Location, staff is very friendly and helpfull, clean , good WiFi connection in the room
None , I had 5 nights and no complanes )))
The room was clean, air-conditioned and adequate in size, with a safe, TV and coffee-making facilities. There was a desk and reasonable storage space. The shared bathrooms were also clean. The hotel had character, with all the wooden panelling.
A sink would have handy to have in the room... otherwise no complaints.
I loved the mahogany wood throughout this quaint brownstone hotel. It was intimate and romantic. I felt like I was in an old movie set in New York. The hallway was quiet and lighting was dim and romantic with rugs throughout. We didn't hear anyone during our stay, other guests seemed pleasant. My husband had an early appointment at the VA Hospital on 1st and E. 23rd - so this locale was perfect. We are staying there again this month.
The shared bath was not a problem, except that the guest before me soaked the bath mat/rug -not sure how- maybe by standing on it while she took a shower? My room -602, unfortunately smelled of cat pee, a shame because the room was pleasant otherwise -- teenie, tiny - wish it had a queen size bed, but this is New York City and space comes at a premium.
Location, nice room, nice building, they cleaning very often the common bathroom,a few times every day.Helpfull stuff.Good price.
Problems with the WIFI all weekend, which I think in Manhattan is a must.In the middle of the first night they called us on phone because they forget to charge our credit card. The programmed cards for the room doors lost the information randomly. They solved in 1 minute every time, but still a problem.
Staff are very kind and helpful. Securely stored my bags before check in. Great walking location. Good restaurants nearby. Hotel has beautiful interior architecture details. The furniture is standard, simple, but well care for and in good condition. AC works just fine. The bedding was well made and clean. The bedcover was clean and in good condition, which many hotels overlook. The bathrooms are spotless, and always kept clean. I swear a gnome would come in and clean between people, I don't know how they did it, but the bathrooms were always clean and tidy. I was very impressed.
Price was good Location excellent
I think the bed was too small and tv didn't offer enough channels. Elevator is small and slow. Staff is meh.
Unfriendly front desk staff (some) Very poor wifi
